Hello tots. We arrived at noon, an hour after they opened. They were already out of ground beef to make the hamburgers; technically the beef hadn’t arrived yet. Tri-tip sandwich $ 10.99 | Tri-tip was so tender that when I bit into the sandwich the meat just surrendered and the bbq sauce attacked(attacked my shirt). It’s on a soft french sandwich roll, I wish the bun was toasted on the inside to give some textural diversity. The sauce is way more sweet than savory, but not so much that it assaults you into giving up. There’s just enough spice in it to keep it interesting. A little more spice wouldn’t hurt. Super delicious. The sandwich does not come with sides. I ordered those tots, though. They sprinkle on a spicy cajun style seasoning salt at the end(or maybe old bay) on top of these INSANELY crispy tots. Yup. Dominating brownness. Service is good. Dudes are hella nice. We were there conversing for around four hours and they never once asked us to leave. Saw a lot of people coming and going, a lot of people walking from the surrounding neighborhood. By the time we left around 4PM, the place was hoppin’. I can’t wait to take my mom.

Haven’t had good BBQ since RD’s left Oak Park and finally tried this place. Expensive! a couple of slices of tri-tip and stale white bread cost $ 13 – which wouldn’t have been so bad if they’d given me my sides. But they were out of greens and the cornbread wasn’t ready. The green beans were from a can and the coleslaw was boring. And, one of my pet peeves – music and TV on at the same time. I had high hopes but definitely won’t be back.

By far the best BBQ in Sacramento. The area is so-so but safe worth the trip. The Ribs and Chicken are to die for and all sandwiches are fantastic. Good Mac-Cheese, potato and Mac salad too. Not to mention, he’s open on Sundays and most holidays when most other BBQ places are closed.

Coming from being a Memphis native at one time, this BBQ was legit(even though it’s Texas). The pulled pork sandwich was great and their BBQ was really good. The mac and cheese was typical southern, but good. I came with a large group and the owner or cook was very nice and helpful and got us all our food pretty dang quick. Great place to try while I was in town.

My mom convinced me to try this place out, one night we were in the neighborhood and I must say, I wasn’t too impressed. We originally came in for wings, she had them prior to the evening we came in and she highly recommended them. Unfortunately they were out of wings! What?!? How’s that even possible? So I had a pulled pork sandwich and it wasn’t bad, just kinda dry and way too sweet. The guy at the counter was pretty rude and wasn’t much help when I asked about the menu. Overall it was decent. I’ll give them another try.

Went here with the in-laws. Very friendly atmosphere and Rodney is such a character, had us all laughing the whole time. Not to mention their food was pretty bomb, and not all of us eat meat! Will definitely be paying this place another visit! Sincerely potpourri.(Rodney’s nickname for me)

Classic BBQ joint located in bustling Oak Park. PROS: Nice menu options. BBQ sauce was savory. It had a good sweetness with a little spicy kick. Tater Tots were crunchy and delicious. Decent prices and you get a pretty good amount of food. Friendly staff CONS: Interior and exterior of the building are dirty and off-putting. It made me think twice about kitchen cleanliness. And it was hot and stuffy inside. Chicken was really dry and hard. (Personal opinion) way too much sauce. If you like less, maybe request the sauce on the side. OVERALL: Experience was decent. I ordered the 3×3 plate with tri tip, chicken, and ribs. Tater tots, beans, and cole slaw. The meal came with bread too. I ordered my food togo and it was ready within 10 minutes. I was not floored, but was not upset with the food. With tip, I spent $ 25.

Now I’m not saying to dine here– more like«to go please.» But what I am saying that this place has THEBEST half rack of ribs in the city!!! It’s not about the price… meat prices fluctuate, and that’s how it is, but the delivery is key, and T&R have proved to me time and time again that they have what it takes. Please, please, please support this place… I’d hate to see a single Sacramentan pass this opportunity up. Thanks!

It has gotten a lot more expensive than before! I got tri tip and ribs with green beans for $ 20! They also ran out of tater tots, which I found out about after I already paid for the meal. Keep in mind it may take some time for your food to be prepared as well :/

In my opinion this place is «Hygienically challenged.» It smells good when you are driving by, but it is not clean inside, Get it together people, how do you pass inspections?

Yummy — I’m having the hillbilly pulled pork hoagie sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese and baked beans — barbecue. The hoagie has pulled pork and try tip in it with coleslaw and it is very tasty. I did get an extra side — I wanted to try the macaroni and cheese and I am enjoying it. The barbecued baked beans are tasty, on the sweet side, which I like.

Expecting good ribs because I thougt of some good reviews. I totally forgot reviews are per person taste & views and just view as information. After hospital visit i went to get ribs for lunch. Order took about 10 minutes I wes ther @ 11:15 am. My meal came to around $ 16, 2 meat &2 sides. Restaurant is dirty feels awful. I saw a large garbage can almost full, it must be from yesterday? Anyway let me tell you about my ribs & chickens. Rib has a lot meat but no flavor just drench in sauce, Barbecue chicken was dry again no flavor just drench in heavy sauce 2 sides I order potato salad and it was disgusting. as other corn on the cob was large yet it was just ok. Personally This is not the worst ribs but kind of made me ill after eating it. I only ate ¼ of my meal and rest of them i had to …

Had the tri tip pulled pork sandwhich with slaw with sweet potato tots and was not disappointed however, it was small for the price. A little less sauce on the meat please!

Nestled in Oak Park and a stone’s throw away from home, I had high hopes for another go-to BBQ spot. Unfortunately, T & R fell a good ways short. The star was easily the pork ribs — succulent and tender albeit a bit lacking in smoke and savoriness. The tri-tip had good resilience though it was on the tougher side. The portion for the 2 meat combo was certainly ample, though I’d highly recommend coming during lunch hours(11 am — 1 pm) on weekdays to nab their daily specials that takes several dollars off all the plates. As for the sides, I went –1 for 2. Green beans tasted canned while the spicy jalapeño & corn gumbo literally had an oil layer atop of it nearly a centimeter deep. Hate to say it, but… they were disgusting. The venue itself screams take-out as the clealiness and atmosphere left much to be desired. Hardly worth a return visit and I’d go with MoMo’s in a heart beat for good ‘Q in the area.

WARNING: LONGREVIEW! I came here after one of my friends recommended to try this place since we wanted to grab Southern Texas barbecue in honor of Super Bowl Sunday tomorrow. Surprisingly, there wasn’t a wait despite being Saturday. We were able to order quickly and grab a seat. We ordered 2 items that came with 6 sides to share. This more-than-sufficiently fed a party of 3 hungry hippos. The first entrée was ½ slab of ribs and the second was a 4-way T&R big Texas platter, meaning you get to choose 4 different meats from hot links, pulled pork, tri-tip, chicken, and/or ribs. The 6 sides we chose were BBQ beans, coleslaw, potato salad, sweet potato tots, tater tots, and french fries. ENTREES: The ½ slab of ribs were better than expected, very soft and tender although it wasn’t fall-off-the-bone like Texas Roadhouse. It was also drenched in barbecue sauce, yuuuum. For the 4-way Texas platter, we chose hot links, chicken, pulled-pork, and tri-tip. Everything, again, was drenched in delicious sauce. They also gave bread so you can sandwich your meats. Out of the selection, my favorite were the hot links but everything was grilled and seasoned nicely. SIDES: The coleslaw and BBQ beans weren’t anything special to me. However, the potato salad was good since the macaroni and flavors were balanced well. The sweet potato tots were fried crisply and had a nice glaze(my personal favorite), but I also really enjoyed the texture of the regular tater tots and fries too. There’s only limited parking here and it’s also located in a smidge sketch area. Overall, this place does its job for those who are craving for Southern or even Texas style grilling in the Sacramento area. My only complain is that it’s quite pricey, everything costed $ 46 and the portions weren’t huge either! So don’t come super hungry or you might end up ripping one in your wallet, hehe: D.

Legit BBQ places should look a little shady in my opinion and this place def looks semi-sketch. It seems like most people get food here to go, which is probably the smarter way to go since it’s ridiculously hot inside. They have a big fan set up but it doesn’t do too much when its 100 degrees out. The food was solid. The beans were good. The tots were good. The potato salad is on the more mustard-y side. I think the meat was good??? I don’t like that they slather so much sauce on top of the meats. I like sauce on the side so you can gauge how much you want. WIth that much sauce, it’s hard to tell what the actual smoky flavor of the meat was. I liked the chicken more than the ribs since the rib meat was a little too tough for me. Overall, it was a decent meal. Probably not the best BBQ I’ve had in sac but definitely not the worst either. I’m not against coming here again but I probably won’t actively seek it out either.

This was my first time here. In Oak Park, you walk in and its a basic little set up with tables and pull-out chairs. I walked up and ordered the ½ slab of ribs with a side of Mac and cheese and corn on the cob. He ordered the pulled pork sandwich with tater tots(they do offer the sweet potato tots too. They had one high chair, which was awesome, so my little one could hang out with us. Food was delish. Personally I should have asked for the sauce on the side because I prefer to control my sauce intake with each bite. Staff was nice, but décor could use a little work(I know, I’m such a female right?) I Would like to see the tables clean of sauces and crumbs from the previous patrons. In spots like these where people are using their fingers and touching stuff I feel it important to wipe down EVERYTHING: condiments, counters, chairs, tables(even the sides of the tables). Yummy though!
