Came here with my brother to try the fries, and I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the Ireland fries, and the bacon just seemed to be very overcooked and burnt to the point of no flavor. The cheese did help give the fries some good flavor though. My brother had the Italy fries, and it was overseasoned with salt, parmesan cheese was bland, garlic was tasteless, and the bottom of the paper tray had a small pool of grease. The only positive about this place is the lemonade, which is freshly squeezed, half the lemon peel thrown in the cup, and served with ice in a reusable souvenir cup. Other than that, I would come back to try their deep fried oreos and snickers, plus the lemonade.

I found my spot for fair food! I’ve been craving funnel cake so I Unilocaled this place and came during my cheat day. I was not disappointed! This is fried/fatty food paradise. I ordered the strawberry funnel cake with one scoop of vanilla ice cream. I also tried the Canadian And Ireland fries. The funnel cake was Ahmazing. The fries were good, expect ally the gravy dressing on the Canadian fries. I will be back!

The food was okay but the lemonade was awesome! And to top it off, the young man at the front is super sweet. I would go back just for the lemonade.

Was in Old Sac for the day, and wanted to get a cheap bite to eat! With $ 2 Hot Dogs, you can’t go wrong, and I got them fairly quickly after ordering! The lady behind the counter was extremely nice, I wish that was the standard for customer service!

If you want to learn about the world through the decadent joys of french fries, this is your spot. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful and the create a fun, engaging atmosphere. I went for the large portion of Italian fries. That means they come with Parmesan and garlic. It sounded great, looked great, but sadly fell short on flavour. as mentioned, the portion size is generous but it should be given the price. I think it was $ 6.50 for a serving of frites. Yikes. The parmesan could not be tasted and the garlic was from a big commercial bottle of chopped garlic which for me, translates into little or no taste. The fries themselves lacked seasoning which, when one orders frites in Europe, regardless of the ‘mode’, they are always well seasoned with salt or special spices. The all star cast saved the day to ge the 3.

Maybe you should update your hours or even your phone number so people that want to give you money don’t waste time attempting. Wanted the opportunity to give you a chance but clearly you don’t have the courtesy to notify customers of hours or provide a phone number to confirm those hours. You should consider reading all reviews and not just the decent ones about your establishment.

I had my first poutine! And it was glorious! And I didn’t even have to go to Canada! So this place is a French fry shop. A WHOLESHOPJUSTFORFRIES. Heaven on earth. Their French fries come plain or with many different toppings and dips, and they also do some deep fried desserts I think. But when I saw that they had poutine, I knew I had to give it a try. My husband and I shared an order for lunch and it was wonderful. The fries were cooked perfectly, the gravy was nice– flavorful and perfectly salty(I like my fries pretty salty), and the melted mozzarella was tasty. It was piping hot and fresh and hit the spot on this cool day. Some of the other combos they had sounded pretty good too– like the Irish fries, with melted cheddar and bacon? Oh yeah, I bet that is fantastic. And the Italian fries with garlic and Parmesan sounded really good too.

This Place is OK. The Staff is very friendly, and the prices are good, but the food is just OK. I personally ordered the Canadian fries, and while the fries were cooked well an the cheese was good, the gravy tasted like it was from a packet. There was no place to sit inside, although they had benches outside. If your in Old Sac already and looking for a snack, I would definetly stop by, but i would not make it a point to travel there just for this.

Disclaimer: This rating is solely based on availability and in no regard is an assessment of the quality of food provided. Spud Shack is a small town treasure with one issue: When are you really open? Mid-day, lunch time and the doors are closed while the google info says«Open, 11am — 5pm» with no phone number to dial. On a few occasions, I’ve made the journey to Spud Shacks only to meet a locked door with a «We’re Closed» sign. I agree with the other reviewers that the food is really good and innovative, however, actually experiencing the menu is the equivalent to waiting for the Christmas Holiday sale in July… it’s just not ‘here’ yet. Please consider adding a phone number to the shop so that the faithful can be assured that the journey is worth it.

This place alright. I like the idea that they have specialty fries representing each country’s style but maybe my expectations were really high. My sister and I ordered the Ireland(my pick) and the Canadian(my sister’s pick). The Ireland were french fries topped with melted cheddar, bacon bits and came with a side of ranch. The Canadian was a poutine style so it came topped with melted mozzarella and gravy. Ireland was good and salty while the Canadian was saucy lol I don’t know it just seemed really easy to make and not extremely creative on the amount of ingredients. I think it was cool to see the variety but ehh it didn’t leave a lasting impression but a 3-star impression.

MAYBE ive tried one of their worst fries… because looking at others reviews im getting surprised! I ordered the greek style fries thinking I’d enjoy it most, since Greek food is very similar to my cultures food and i love it! The only thing greek about those fries was the feta cheese, which by itself was an Okay feta. The fries had absolutely no flavor! No salt. no texture. Olives looked old and not juicy at all. Tomatoes. ugh! in the middle of summer, when tomatoes are suppose to be the best these tomatoes were tasteless. So dry, rough and again no flavor. They even looked pale seemed like i was eating plastic with no flavor, just filling up my stomach… oh and paid $ 8 for just fries and bottled water! –_–

— Holy S*** that fries is amazing! - I visited Sacramento for three days, and this place is packed every time I passed by. I decided to give it a try, and gosh I was so glad I did! Food: 4 stars Price: 4 stars Service: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars Overall: 3.5 stars Food: My husband ordered poutine since he’s Canadian and loves that stuff. I wasn’t really into poutine since gravy and cheese together doesn’t sound attractive to me. Also I was on a diet, so I tried to eat less fried food. I was THINKING that I would just take a bite or two, but I almost finished the whole bag on the way to our hotel since he didn’t felt like eating when he’s walking. oh man, it was so good… Price: I BELIEVE ours was a large, and the large poutine was $ 5.55. They also have cups there, so you can get water if you’d like. There are lemons at the side, so you can put some in your water. I normally would think it’s pricy cuz why would you get fries for over 5 bucks when you can get it from McDonald for cheap, you know? But hey, this is probably better than McDonald’s!!! Service: There are places to sit outside of the restaurant(well, it’s more like a stand), but there’s really no service other than the fact that they give you a bag to take ur fries to go. But then it’s expected for a place that’s like a stand. Ambiance: It’s located in Old Sacramento and many people come by this place. It’s kind of like a street fair kind of ambiance, some people even stand by the restaurant and eat if the seats outside were all taken. I think it’s quite nice when it’s sunny out. Overall: If I visit Sacramento again, I think I will try some EXOTIC fries there, haha!

Get your Fries fix on!!! Offering Worldly Fries, try different styles from all over the world, including Canadian«Poutine», English curry Fries, Deep South Sweet Potato, French, Netherlands, Irish, etc. Heavy, full of calories, and super unhealthy and utterly guiltily satisfying, give it a try! The«Poutine» fries came with a healthy smattering of melted mozzarella and gravy. Combined with the cheese and gravy, the crispy fries offered a wondrous complimentary crisp and softness that rivals Peanut Butter and Jelly. A wonderful snack to much on while visiting Old Sacramento. Just be sure to not eat these types of fries everyday ^)^

Very cheap to get a hot dog. Some days it good. Some days it ok. It is cheap and the people can be nice. I like getting the chili dog for $ 2 when I’m hungry and rushing to go back to work.

I got the regular sized Irish fries which are bacon and cheddar cheese covered fries with a side of ranch dressing I also got the hot dog and a bottle drink which was a Shirley Temple flavored soda and it was delicious. So my total was just shy of $ 10 which not unreasonable the regular size fries are enough for two people possibly three and overall everything was very good I was very satisfied. The store is small very clean and service was excellent.

15 different kinds of fries?!? Who can walk past that without stopping? We were glad we did! The fries were yummy and the funnel cake was even better! I also got a fountain soda and refilled it twice! The girl behind the counter seemed nice but the inside is pretty old and a bit grungy looking. There is no seating inside the shop, but there are 5 or 6 picnic style tables outside on the walkway which was nice. We were able to sit in the fresh air and people watch while we snacked.

If you’re craving for funnel cakes and the fair isn’t in town, definitely come check this place out. 4.99 base price for a funnel cake with powered sugar, then $ 1.00 for each additional topping you decide to slap on it. On this visit, my boyfriend and I decided to add vanilla ice cream and strawberries. The funnel cake turned out great! I think it’s pretty decent for the price too if you compare to fair prices.

Never having noticed this place in Old Sac before, I thought their«worldly fries» concept was pretty interesting. Basically you can order fries based on a variety of different countries, and there are different toppings and/or sauces for each. Some of the countries seem more appealing or sophisticated than others — the Canada fries are advertised as poutine — melted mozzarella and gravy — while others, like the Japan fries, are advertised as just fries with a side of teriyaki sauce. We ordered the Greece fries, which were topped with chunks of feta cheese, olives, and tomatoes. However, it seemed like these were just that — toppings. They didn’t especially complement the fries, which in themselves were good, but the combination wasn’t overall too special. It might have been better to get something where the cheese was actually melted onto the fries, such as the Canada or Ireland fries, so everything went together more instead of seeming like two separate things being thrown together.

The sign advertises«Fries from all around the world»… pretty much the same type of fries all around but with different toppings. Creative gimmick SO of course I had to try it! I liked the concept — don’t judge me. lol We had the fries«from» Greece. It wasn’t saucy with melted cheese or anything so our fries stayed crisp. It was topped with some olives, goat cheese and tomatoes. Everything tasted really fresh. They also serve Nathan’s Hot Dogs, funnel cakes and shaved ice here(although the shaved ice isn’t anything fancy — just crushed ice and you add your own syrup). It isn’t a place I HAVE to stop at every time I’m in Old Sac, but for $ 4 – 5 it was worth to try just once — although I will probably return to try the other toppings… possibly Ireland next time.
