S&E Hauling and Handyman Services

I live in a (fairly) new condo with standard adjustable mount wire shelving in the closet. My shelving fell and needed to be «reinstalled». The wire shelf itself was not damaged; the nails/​screws merely fail out the wall do the weight of my clothes (& BOXES OF SHOES which I sit on top of the shelf). I first called RHS Contracting who I found on Unilocal.«Ron» came by and said that it was too complicated of a job which I thought was odd because all that needed to be done was drill nails with the anchors back into the wall. I’ve even purchased one of the wire closest systems from Home Depot or Lowe’s before on my own and installed a multilevel one 5 years ago but I’m not a good stud finder or driller so this time I figured I’d call in the big guns.
I called Sergio that same day and he arrived that afternoon, assessed the work and advised it was easily doable. In LESS THAN TWO HOURS we went to Home Depot, purchased screws and stronger wall anchors to support the weight of my clothes (and SHOES) and my closet was repaired. He also filled in the holes in my closets wall from where the old screws were ripped and even repaired a big gash in the wall caused from the wire shelf scraping the side wall when it fell. He even showed how to repair those types of holes on my own so I’d be prepared in the future!!! I was also impressed that he was really trying to look out for meant home Depot to make sure I wasn’t bung more than I needed. He even bargained discounts when Home Depot was out of what I selected and he needed to substitute for slightly more expensive replacement items. Although the few dollar deferential didn’t make much of a difference to me, it did to him and he didn’t want me to waste money.
Sergio was so great and helpful! I even asked him about other odd jobs needed repairing around my place and he was more than helpful with. He was really friendly and filled with stories when I’d come around. I will definitely use him again and have given his number to friends!!!

I contacted sergio because the reviews about him were good… I had him do a small job when the condo was vacant and then when he did ok, i had him do a bigger job… Boy did I make a mistake… I mean he did half of what was needed to be done but the ones that needed more attention, i felt like he took the easy way and did not do it properly. the dishwasher wasn’t installed properly and he leaves a mess. the first time it was ok because it was easy to sweep it up but the second time… a big no no. tenant complained and when he was supposedly done and i had pay him, turns out there were things still not done correctly. Not only that but the other review is correct, he wants half of the money up front because he doesn’t want to get rip off. but I was the one who got a rip off. I had a new handyman come look around and found many things if not more wrong with what he did.

great guy all around but maybe not for big projects

all in all, i was very hesitant writing this review because he is a good guy, but the service that I got and wasted money on was not a 5 star… I was hoping that he would have been my to go handy man but i guess i will still be searching.

Called Sergio to do a lot of knick knack things around my rental in Davis — checking the outlets, changing the hood above the stove, replacing a chandelier, patching a crack in the door, pressure washing outside. He was late at our first meeting, but was very helpful whenever I had questions. He had a list of material i needed to purchase for the repairs so I inquired what his email was in case he forgot something or vice versa, but he doesn’t have one! :(I don’t do well with phone tag… star off for that one. Repairs were done well although clean up wasn’t. Up to this point, everything was satisfactory. Sergio was on the road to being my go to handyman guy. I paid him for the repair services and I agreed to send him a check for the pressure washing services after he was done. Side note: I was very pleasantly surprised to see that he had cleaned the screens of my sun room. Not so pleasantly surprised that all the furniture he took out of the sun room to clean the screens was LEFT OUTSIDE!
I understand that with new clients, maybe you’d expect payment right after the project was done via credit card or in person payment. Sergio did not mention any of this but proceeded to hound me for the check for the next week. I put the check in the mail and when he did not receive it 3 days later, he called and I said if it does not come in by the next day, I’ll write him a new check. Personally, I was really offended! If you didn’t trust me, you should have asked for the payment up front! I shouldn’t have two live checks floating around because of your impatience. When the next day rolled around and he still had not received the check he wanted me to directly deposit the money. He should have had me do this in the first place. He might be worried about getting swindled but now I’m carrying that risk by direct depositing AND having a live check out. Never again!

Really great service! I contacted Sergio on Friday morning to see if he would be able to remove an old satellite dish from the second floor of my house and haul it (since it certainly wasn’t going to fit in my trash can!). He was quick to respond, came out same-​day to perform the work, and completed it quickly at a fair price.
If the HOA finds anything else to complain about, I’ll be in contact Sergio!

I have just met Sergio in the past week and I am very please with his work. I had him replaced a water heater in a rental property and redo drywall damage. I must agree that his prices are extremely reasonable and he delivered as promise. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking for handyman or hauling service. He is a pleasure to work with and now I think I have found my handman for my own house projects and the double plus is that his wife is a house cleaner which I was looking for one too… Keep you post on how that goes…

Sergio Arellano, the owner, can assist in many areas of your home improvement and yard cleanup needs. Extensive yard cleanup and hauling away of debris, fence repair, power washing, and interior/​exterior painting, handyman services, etc.
His prices are reasonable and he is always on time to the job site. Easy communications, plus they are always available to answer your call. I was kept informed on a daily basis regarding the next days work schedule, etc.
Sergio made several trips to the dump with excess dirt from my job site.
S&E charges only $ 80 per load for hauling dirt, rock, trash, junk, etc., to the dump, including all fees. Lowest price I have found.
