Every single time I visit here to have something framed Ron welcomes me with a smile. He is a true craftsman, something rarely come across these days. His hours are the typical, bizarre, «mom and pop» shop, but you will leave with a smile, great work, and saving– at times, up to thousands of dollars dependent on what you’re having done. It’s hard to miss, so be sure to use directions. Parking can is tight so if you’re driving a big Escalade or the like just park on the street somewhere. Despite the small lot, I’ve never had the issue where I find myself walking more than I would at any grocery store.
If you are unsure what colors and style you’re looking for, if you leave it up to him he always hits it on the mark, making the art the main show. Ron often adds this or that on the house for pieces that are special (diplomas, graduation pictures, etc.) and it has always looked great. Some places will wonder off in another direction than the one you decided changing the look in a bad way, but again, I’ve never had this issue with Ron. Tell him what you want, he understands through some sixth sense of the sort. Truly one of the hidden gems of Sacramento. I’ve never been loyal to a business before meeting Ron, but if you give him a shot you will understand my review and why I am giving him such high praise. I’ve saved a solid 5 grand going to this store rather than all the other horrible frame stores remotely near Sacramento and Elk Grove.
On my last note, I’ve not once had to return here to have him fix something through failure of hardware or his work. Ron is the best. I wish he would get more mention from magazines and papers, even online. I’m even going to go as far as saying he’s easily up there with the best not only in the city or the state. I can say with confidence that his work is some of the best you will find anywhere in the country as far as framing, prices, and interpersonal skills as a business.
Does he have a 5 star Unilocal standing? If not, anyone that says otherwise is just having a bad day or something. Yin Ning Tong (I always forget the alternate name, but it just gives a wave of purity and nostalgia) — One classy guy and business.

I can’t say enough positive things about Ron. We came here based on the excellent Unilocal reviews. It was well worth the drive from Vacaville! Ron was so cheerful and friendly, yet professional. His price for the mat job we had done was ¹⁄₃ of the price Michael’s wanted to charge — $ 250 just to have our piece matted. Ron was able to give us a quote over the phone and get the job done in 4 days. Amazing. We will make the trip for all of our future framing needs. Thanks Ron!

Being particular, I am that appropriately. Brought in 2 posters for my daughter with plans to use inexpensive newly purchased frames. Ron’s mat work made these prints look like quality art. Amazing what the eye and the right mat will do for «simple». In addition, it’s nice to observe an honest assessment; rather than the up-​sale used elsewhere. I came here to get a shadowbox made as a gift for someone who organized a small group hike up Mount Whitney. The frame turned out better than expected and Ron was very helpful about helping me figure out how to design it. I had two pictures from my travels that needed to be framed professionally to both preserve them and help them look their best. They looked AWESOME! Extremely well done and professional. I’ve invested thousand of dollars in photo equipment shooting youth sports over the years. It’s great to be able to shoot and print high quality actions shots but you have to be able to showcase these great photos of these kids in action properly. In the past, I’ve taken my large prints to either Michael’s or Aaron Brothers for framing service. Lots of these types of stores use computer aided framing machines to make the cuts. Nothing wrong with this but you have to remember you as the consumer pay quite a sum toward the overhead involved in producing your framed photo.
Ron is a one person shop using the old school methods of cutting and framing manually. It’s a human art form over machine. There is never any upselling from Ron like chain framing shops. This owner is more proud of his work to produce for you an outstanding framed print of your memories than making a lot of money.

If you can just overlook the funkiness of the place and just appreciate the friendly good naturedness of the owner, the quality of his work, and the down to earth price, I think you would agree — this is the place to bring your art to frame… If it didn;t look good before you brought it to Ron, it will definitely look great after you get it back.

Ron is super thoughtful and awesome to work with. I got a couple of my brother’s paintings framed and he helped me pick out a fame for a very bold orange piece. Once we had those picked out, he had it all set for 2 weeks for pickup. Turns out, one of the frames were discontinued. So he called me up, asked if I wanted to come on in and pick another frame out. He still had it done within the timeframe as promised. He actually even saved the bit of painting that I had him chop off because of a blemish. I didn’t want it, but it was a nice gesture.
Cheaper than most places, and great customer service. I highly recommend.

I dealt with Ron personally, and am very happy w/​my experience. I brought in several different types of things I wanted framed. He worked with me re. what look I was going for, and had great suggestions. My art looks great, the service was great, as were the prices (considering custom framing is not cheap any way you look at it). Highly recommended.

Very customer-​centered and kind. The other Unilocal posts were true to their word. They even accommodated my procrastination and put in a rush order — and then as I was leaving offered me an ice-​cream bar his wife brought out — I can’t tell you how the calm of those two and the little treat right at the end just made my Friday. Very reasonable and friendly.
Note: the sign says «Yen Ning Tong» not «Ron’s Frame Shop» — I had to turn around. It’s a small shop but they are capable of nice custom jobs. Worth going to!

The service here was excellent! Ron and Jackie are very nice people. I have been here twice.
The first time (around September/​October 2011) I was getting my diplomas framed. I am very indecisive and was having trouble choosing between two frames. I was there WAY past their business hours, but Ron was very patient and did not rush me at all.
I had the $ 10 for $ 20 deal from Unilocal,and he applied it to each of the four frames! excellent value!
It took Ron about 2 weeks to get 4 frames done. When I went to pick up, I noticed a small scratch on one of the frames, which Ron immediately offered to fix with no charge. However, because I would have to come back another day, and I didn’t live that close, he actually drove my frame up to Folsom and delivered it to me!
The second time (around February/​March 2012) I was getting 2 certificates framed. He remembered my name, which was nice. Again, very professional and service was excellent. He gave me 20% off because I am a repeat customer.
I would definitely come again and recommend to anyone who needs things framed!

I had about 5 pictures to frame and was sure that Michael’s would be my best bet as far as pricing and professionalism. Ehhhhhhh, wrong!
Ron was so professional and promised to have the framing completed by 2 weeks and called me sooner. Also, the price for ALL frames was less than 1 frame at Michael’s. I couldn’t believe it. Oh and he is so detail oriented that he noticed one of my posters had a wavy and dirty border so he added FREE OF CHARGE a border to make the frame look better. Did you read FREE OF CHARGE? I was set on a red frame for one of my black and white pictures and he suggested to use the black, so glad I went with his suggestions. He’s been in this business long enough to know what works and is visually pleasing.
PLUS I feel like I gained new friends. Jackie, Ron’s wife and I laughed so much it was like we knew each other for years. They both have a very sweet and personable way of doing business that is just hard to find these days. I will definitely go back to Ron for all my framing and highly recommend him.
