History

Established in 2005.

Gary Kluck the CEO has been in the construction business for 50+ years, he started working with his father when he was just 12 years old replacing concrete. The rest is history. Gerry Anderson the president also has been in home improvement for 50+ years. 100+ years in combined experience is what Quality First is made of, we are a family-​ownered christian company. The atmosphere at Quality First is always full of positive energy, «positive things happen to positive people» –Gary Kluck. We truly believe we are the best and we think the best and we deliver the best service in our industry. During our 3rd year of business we were awarded with GAF’s master elite roofers, typically you have to be in business for 5 years before you qualify. Quality first within 3 years exceeded those standards and have kept their GAF Master Elite title for each year since. Only 3% of roofing companies in the United States are awarded this achievement. We are also Diamond Certified for 8 consecutive years.

I started at Quality First Home Improvement in January of 2013. I graduated from high school in 2011. I’ve taken online college courses for social media marketing, adobe photoshop and adobe dreamweaver and plan to do more classes soon. I always have a smile on my face, I’m also very creative and think outside side the box! I love customer service and love assisting homeowners with any questions they have, I’m more than happy to oblige! I really enjoy working here and all the employees are genuine and care about their work, great atmosphere to work in!

Following deciding to go with another company, the Quality First representative sent me a text message that implied consequences from the Ygrene program for switching over. Apparently he was unaware that I had read AND was in the time limits of the contract to cancel. The terms are ridiculous by the way, hand deliver, mail, or telegram. Who uses a telegram these days? Based on his unscrupulous response I will be requiring written verification following hand delivering my cancellation. I did post a picture of the text message for anyone interested.

Worst experience you could image. Started the engagement in December and it’s still not complete. I feel stupid for not reading the reviews. Windows ordered wrong several times. Sliding door ordered wrong 3 times then delivered with large scratches. While they replaced them it took months as the replacement was wrong. All the screens are the wrong size. They ordered new ones but the tabs in the wrong place I’m still waiting for those but nobody will return my call. The caulking installed around the windows is horrible. Not even sure it can be painted over. Please read the reviews and believe that they are true. We still haven’t signed off on the job but the loan has started.

Beware of this company and their un-​ethical pushy sales people. i am a disable vet and how their team treated me is unbelievable. I was looking for help with my garage door and they canceled on me twice. Now they wont stop calling me because they want the sale. It is an absolute joke. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.

So we scheduled an appointment with this company at a home and garden show. Got home and checked out their Unilocal reviews and quickly found out we were not interested in doing business with this company. Canceled the appointment and they sent their sales person to our door anyways. The either ignored our cancelation request which is VERY unprofessional or they couldn’t figure out how to let their sales person know which is incompetent… Either way it is all bad. Definitely made me feel better about my decision of canceling in the first place.

I had windows installed in my home they did a poor job installing them and the salesman had me sign the finance papers for my loan and did not disclose of a day to day interest now I’m stuck with his loan paying all of this interest 1.50 a day it sucks I wish I would have known there salesman are poorly trained they have no knowledge in any financing terms please do not do business with this company and I also have a recorded phone call from the salesman that is disclosing

I can not tell you how rude, unprofessional, arrogant, and illegal these solicitors that come to my doorstep to sell solar panels are! One came to our house, opened our back gate (I am assuming illegally to enter our back yard), and once greeted by our large dog Randall knocked on our door. He left our back gate open, did not apologize for his illegal trespassing behaviors, and luckily our dog did not run away. This companies sales approach is ridiculous. A police report was filed and notified our neighborhood on Next Door.

Called this company to get a quote for a new roof. The sales person came and did his pitch but although I liked what he was offering me I didn’t agree with the Price. First he quoted me $ 14k+ then kept insisting about their customer service and how they are Contractor of the month with YGrene and blah blah blah. I told him that I wasn’t comfortable with the price. Then he stared throwing prices from $ 14k+ then final price to $ 12k+. So, I told him that I was still in the process of shopping around. The following day he calls me again I said I was not interested because I felt I could do much better. So, 3days pass I get a call from another person asking if they can come out again but this time with another guy that is more experienced. So I’m like ok hmm the other didn’t have experienced talking about products that he swore was top of the line and best product and get customer service… Ok so the other guy comes… He said he was the owner… Hmm lucky me the owner came… I happen to forgot to remove the other roofing papers from other contractors on the table so I removed it… Then he said oh no don’t move it bring back here… Let’s see what they got probably all bs you shouldn’t believe what they offer unless it is GAF products and his recommended from YGrene… Right off the bat I’m thinking hmmm arrogant… So I had to tell him all the contractors have contacted is from the YGrene website list of contractors then he started talking about contractors that filled bankruptcy and went out of business and that if u had a problem with the roof who r u going to call… He just kept bad talking other contractors to make us change our mind… I told him that I had a lower quote with the same product GAF that he was offering… Then started saying oh it’s GAF we r getting and he wanted to see the quote… He wanted to see all the quotes I got so I showed him a few then he started to talk crap about it like ur not getting this and that and that and this… Uhmmm isn’t the there’s an inspection after it is done? So if we r not getting something we will now… At this point I’m turned off by his attitude and demeanor so I just flat out said no on the price and what he was offering… Then when he was walking out he said well you should of told me that pricing was the issue and he wasn’t going to bring down the price. And he shouldn’t of wasted his time coming back… What the hell really?!? They lost 2 business like I told both of the guys that my parents r looking for a contractor as well but I will not be recommending then to them or anyone…

I can not tell you how many Rude, unprofessional, arrogant, and pushy solicitors have come to my doorstep to try and con me into buying over– priced solar panels! They come around about once or twice a week and I always get the same guy– KEITH SOWULEWSKI (or SOWULIWSKI) Foutuantely, I was not at home when he dropped by earlier today, but he did leave a door hanger. These guys have been asked more than once to stop coming to our door to sell us something as we are not interested. But they still do! AND not to mention we have a gate in front of out house and «no tresspassing» label on the gate too. So inconsiderate to ignore our requests and private property. Now we are starting to get automated messages from them! I would never use them or reccomend them to anybody simply because their representatives are representing just how poor this company is and how they treat their customers!

I do not know where they came from, my Mother had an appointment with them to get a quote on a kitchen remodel and asked me to join. She did not initiate this as she does not want her kitchen remodeled. She said she was cold called, and then informed the caller that she was not interested. They made the appointment anyway.
While we were out we got a call indicating that the estimator would be early — otherwise I would not have known whom to review.
I was the back room when the estimator arrived. As I walked out, I overheard her explain that she told the original solicitor that she was not interested. He was not accepting that — until he heard me say it, then he could not get out quick enough.
Given the limited experience, I know my Mother, but i wasn’t there for the phone call, I am not sure what opinion to form, but this really seems shady.

BUYER BEWARE — HORRIBLE! A solicitor came to my door offering solar, I told her I was not interested and she said they also do patio covers, since I was currently getting quotes for these we set up a time to have an estimator come to my house. Jesse came out the following Saturday and after a very long winded (2 hour) sales pitch he quoted my $ 18k & change for a 20′ duralum patio cover but gave us a «fabulous deal» and took $ 6000 off, leaving the total close to $ 13k. I already had a quote in hand for another firm for a duralum cover that was 24′ for $ 4400. When I told Jesse this he said his price is higher because his product is superior however he was quoting the EXACT product but less of it. Total waste of time, used car sales pitch. Buyer beware!

The worst, they call them self general contractors yet they discriminated against me for my race and won’t bid my job. It’s around 30k of a deal and they say they don’t do bathrooms bedrooms flooring insulation subfloors etc. After they said that I asked what they do? They said everything from the roof to the floors.
Sad, if I saw reviews i would never of called in the first place. Run far from this place!

Many complaints that stopped me from using them.
1) They scheduled appointments without my approval whenever they wanted and called to followup with me on how they went. I was at work during every single one…
2) When I finally spoke with someone about my roof I wasn’t able to get a quote. He kept asking me what my budget was and showed me the «average» price of roofs which was over $ 18,000. What a joke. Maybe on a tile roof for a 3,000 Sq ft house but not my small asphalt roof.
3) They wouldn’t (and still haven’t) stopped calling me to setup an appointment for a roof quote. I’ve asked 4 times to be taken off there call list. I will be signing up for the do not call registry. Wonder of they know it’s $ 16,000 per person they call on that list…
Terrible customer service and over priced.

Having dealt with QFSI’s solar dept. — I have to admit that they are giving the solar industry a bad name. They are using client’s lack of knowledge on solar’s drastic price decline in the past few years to their advantage & rip off clients by charging high fees to install a home solar system. Their pushy salesman close deals by convincing clients that SMUD/PG&E will increase their prices soon & that you need to go green to prevent global warming & save the polar bears. Whether you decide to lease or own a solar electric system — get 2 – 3 quotes from reputable & well-​established companies. Quality First Home Improvement’s solar dept. rips off good people. I educated myself on solar industry a bit & dealt with a number of solar companies before making a decision & this wasn’t the company I chose or can recommend anyone to deal with.

Just got a bid from them… hourly rate quoted for electrical work was $ 550.00/hour for minor work (conduit needed over exposed wiring and gfci outlet swap out) Typical rate in the bay area (Marin!!) is $ 120.00/hour… not sure why it would be so much more in Citrus Heights. Even on public projects with prevailing wage, it is not above $ 200.00/hour. Seems like they are willing to inflate their rates when dealing with the elderly or people from out of town. Extremely shady. I will not be hiring them.

I had 2 men knock on my door giving me a speech about solar and home improvements. I told them I am not at all interested in the Solar part of their business. However, I did need my kitchen cabinets painted and new counters put in as I am trying to upgrade my home to make it more updated for when we sell it next year. They said they would definitely help me out with it. We scheduled the appointment for the next Monday. Monday afternoon came around and I needed to schedule the appointment for a later date since my husband was called out of town for work and would not be home till very late. The man in the call center said he would call back to reschedule. I received a call a week later offering a «HUGE» deal on solar. I informed him I was not interested in solar. He continued to speak about the great «deal». I had to hang up. 40 minutes later a «supervisor» called me back to tell me the man I hung up on was a good guy and that I really needed to hear him out. To be nice I told him I was not interested in solar at this time. He continued to tell me that my electricity bill was going to double in the next year. Double? Really? I then told him a again that I was simply not interested in solar. He then said to me «Well if you can afford double your bill then you can clearly afford the solar deal we are going to offer you» «Please listen to the representative I am sending over to your house. He will be there at 3PM.» I told him «Please do not send him here, I am not interested.» He then raised his voice and I had to speak over him asking him to please never call me again. As I was lowering my phone to hang up I could hear him still yelling about how I was «not very smart»
I CANNOT believe this company threw away the chance to upgrade my kitchen over the solar product they are hard selling. I cannot and will not ever recommend anyone work with this company. I will be posting a «Do Not Solicit» sign at my house thanks to them.

If I could give negative stars to a «company» I would. The sales man was extremely rude to me and very pushy.
I had a window replacement quote. I know I need new windows (my home is about 30 years old) so I didn’t need to be told what is wrong with my windows. The salesman would not listen to me when I said I was in a hurry and did not want the full sales pitch. I wanted a price quote.
It took him over an hour of him talking about the windows, my old windows, Home Depot windows (which he couldn’t say enough bad things about) another company’s window to get a number. The quote he gave me was for $ 18,425 for 9 window and one sliding glass door. When I told him I wanted his contact info and I would let them know in a few days. He started on the hard sale. The price went down to $ 14,900 then to $ 11,000. I explained to him that I would be paying cash for any work and he kept pushing me toward their payment plan and that would be my best option. I again told him I wanted his contact info and that I would be in contact. He continued to be very pushy, put down $ 1000 today and fill out the application. When I told him again that I wanted to do research on my own and would be in contact, he then said that I didn’t know what I was talking about. At that point I kicked him out of my home.
I will never use this company and I will tell everyone I know about their sales and presentations. I have never be so insulted in all my life. On top of everything else their prices are beyond high.

My Husband and I were looking for someone to do a concrete walkway and pad in our backyard and since our neighbors got their driveway done by Quality First, my Husband went over and made an appointment with them last weekend to come out on Tuesday.
After he made the appointment we were immediately contacted by «Doreen» in their call center to confirm the appointment. We didn’t feel quite right about the whole thing which is why we decided to Google the company and came upon this Unilocal page. After seeing the reviews we called back up and cancelled the appointment with Doreen and thought that was the end of that.
A few days pass and Tuesday (the day of our cancelled appointment) comes around. I will always remember this because this is the day that my dog (and best friend) passed away in an unfortunate accident. I was standing outside a few hours after the accident just trying to compose myself when who pulls up?
Quality First. For our cancelled appointment.
Fortunately my Husband had walked outside with me and was able to calmly explain the situation and sent him away explaining we cancelled the appointment and would not need their services. We thought once again, that was it.
Until they called us the next day.
And the day after that.
Quality First, what don’t you understand? I lost my fur baby and my best friend. Have some freaking compassion. I do not care about the concrete. Especially after experiencing the horrible communication within your company and this Unilocal page.

I just looked them up for a completely different reason and saw all of these bad reviews, but they did a REALLY good and quick job for us back in 2012 when we had SUPER old windows.
We had windows of all different sizes and shapes and very custom-​sized sliding glass door but they did a great job with it. Its the end of 2014 now and we have had no problems and everything is wonderful.
