I recently requested a moving quote from Olsen Fielding for a cross country move from California to Michigan. The representative, Mr. McGuire, arrived EXACTLY on time. A rarity. He was truly friendly, courteous, attentive and professional. I haven’t dealt with any in-​home service with any level of professionalism at all, from cable installers, telephone guys, or repairmen of different sorts, NONE have displayed any form of true professionalism at all. Kudos to Olsen & Fielding and Mr. McGuire. You have my business.

First impressions were positive. The estimator that came to our house was on time and professional. He told us hookup of refrigerator and washer/​dryer was part of their service. We asked for a Monday but got scheduled for the Wednesday, fairly inconvenient but we adapted. Three movers showed up on time and overall they were «ok,» but they did somethings we weren’t happy with. First, they all smelled of cigarettes and were off gassing booze. And they all took very smelly bathroom breaks, yuck!
Right off the bat we got comments like «we can’t move all this today,» and «this will take two trips.» I commented back previous movers had managed our belongings in one day/​one trip for two previous moves. When they got to work they appeared to be efficient and careful. At the new house we started to get more complaints. Like «you only have us for 7 hrs, do you really want the treadmill upstairs?» And when I said «yes,» the response was «ridiculous.» They claimed refrigerator/​washer/​dryer hook up wasn’t included yet did it anyway. When my husband told them our sons bed wasn’t put together correctly we got sighs and eye rolls. I could go on but all comments were along the same lines. All and all our stuff got moved and so far only one thing appears to be broken, hoping that process goes well. We had issues with a competitor so can’t say I don’t recommend but just be prepared for less than professional demeanors.

Olsen & Fielding recently moved us from Santa Rosa to San Diego, CA. While our experience with the employees who packed, moved and delivered our belongings was a good one overall, we ran into some resistance at first from management when we submitted a claim for repairs for a piece of furniture that was damaged during the move. However, when push came to shove, management stepped up and paid the total cost of the repair, even when we offered to split the cost with them. To us, this was a very clear example of the customer service ethic that they promote. We appreciate their integrity and would not hesitate to recommend them in the future.

Horrible service. We were promised a driver the day we moved and that our stuff would stay on ONE truck. The movers showed up, didn’t have a driver assigned and our stuff sat in their warehouse for a while. Then another truck loaded up our stuff and was late. We had two boxes missing and still have never found them, stuff was broken. Horrible communication. Bad company and Mayflower is even worse. Please use someone else. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Had Shawn come out to give me a quote to do a local move he was at the house for less then 5 mins and was 30 mins late. Said he would email me my quote never got it called him twice and left voice mails no return phone call and still never got the quote! Would not recommend them AT ALL!!!

No stars. I’m clicking one star because otherwise this review won’t post. Put this company on your do not use list.

It was a smooth and exceptional process.

This move was a disaster! They charged me $ 5700 to move a one bedroom household from Dixon, CA to La Jolla California. There was extensive breakage and damage, i.e., scratches and smashed furniture. The delivery driver was rude and refused to take a chair back to the truck to be delivered to a storage unit. They left a dining table disassembled. The TVs and computer were just dumped in the new location, not reassembled. The truck broke down and delayed delivery. I was told the shipment would be delivered 7 days after I requested delivery and it was 19 days for which I was paying rent. I notified them of the damage the day after delivery and one month later I have not heard from them and no settlement offer has been made.
One star is too high of a rating.
I definitely would not consider this company for a move

I used this company a few years ago to move into an apartment in Sacramento near Sac State. I was happy with the job they did so then I hired them to move me to a new home I purchased in Elk Grove. They did a great job, were very professional and all of my items arrived in good condition. I woul recommend this moving company in the sacramento area!

They also cancel appointments! I’m glad I talked to these rude people before I paid them to break or steal my things!
First they tell me that they don’t make Saturday appointments, so I take off of work to get an estimate. Then, they call me back and cancel and are extremely rude and hang up on me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

This moving company was very good. They showed up on time and worked hard. The 2 guys were nice and only took 2 breaks the whole day. They were careful with our furniture, however, there were a few minor dings/​scratches. (Not enough for me to turn in a claim, though.) They do have a policy of you paying the amount quoted in the estimate and not the actual amount of time worked and then you get a refund of the amount you overpaid. I think this policy is rediculous and I wouldn’t agree to it so the customer service lady spoke with her manager and we got around it so that was good. Overall, a good company to use for moving!
