History

Established in 2014.

m.a.r.k. vintage is owned and operated by Tracy Avenell, a nurse by trade and vintage lover, collector and dealer at heart. Under the name She’s Craftyyyy, Tracy started selling vintage home furnishings and handmade goods that utilized vintage and recycled raw materials at local markets such as GOOD: street food + design market, indie craft fair, Sacramento Antique Faire, Indie Mart San Francisco, East Sac Mercantile and the Davis Flea. Fast forward 2 years and she has turned that love into a full blown business, hoping to share her affinity for mid century and retro home goods with Sacramento and surrounding areas.

I’m a nurse by trade, mom, wife and small business owner. I started m.a.r.k. vintage as an extension of my business She’s Craftyyyy which I started a couple of years ago. Having a brick and mortar has been a lifelong dream of mine. Now I get to share that dream and my love of vintage with Sacramento.

Amazing Eye-​Poppin Retro-​Heaven!
SITREP
While really coming to visit Tea Cozy in this little aisle of shops (next door to Fox & Goose), what should I find? This virtual Shangri-​la of a retro «Lost Horizon»! So many items of wonder & retro-​glory. ;)
THE SETUP
From furniture to knick-​knacks, from clothing to jewelry, there was just so much to see!
* I’m particularly a fan of the mannequin merchandising — I love trying to figure out why staff puts together a particular hat and/​or pair of glasses and/​or dress, etc. etc. together as an ensemble, and if they really think it is an attractive mix — OR, they are getting our goat:
* I particularly like the seductive art of the 50s/​60s — comic-​inspired animation, with a headline that is supposed to deter — and scare! — reckless youth from the addictions of bad habits. And yet, the figures are so sexy I think it has quite the opposite effect. Perhaps a tongue-​in-​cheek snub at the morals of the day!
* And then there are the truly practical items of the time — and also fun (and dare I say romantic?) — such an old Schwinn tandem bicycle!
MY FAVORITE ITEM
I have to give a nod to the old anatomy «game» of «The Visible Woman», which looks like an interesting way a bunch of young boys could spend an afternoon (or MANY afternoons). I am also intrigued by the caption on the box «Optional Feature: The Miracle of Creation», as if this might be perhaps an acknowledgment to the Christian Right, and yet turn out to be some perverse or deviant subterfuge that allows you to watch how a sperm gets «injected» into the woman’s womb («Oh my god, is that SEX?!?» «Oh my god, it IS!»)
THE LOWDOWN
If you are looking for some truly fun — or obscure — vintage items & antique items, then Mark Vintage is a stop you will have to make!

This place rocks. The owner is a badass woman. I got some really cute dresses here that were priced well and in mint condition. So much great house stuff for all you collectors. I only had time to purchase a few dresses but I can’t wait to visit again.

Came here while my boyfriend and I were waiting to get a table at Fox & Goose.
This place is awesome! When you look into the store, it looks like a time capsule as the furniture and other house hold goods are from the 60’s-80’s.
They have some clothing items, but majority of what they have for sale are household goods.
We had purchased a blender for about $ 50. We tested it out prior to buying to make sure that it actually runs.
If I lived in a loft, I would totally do my furniture shopping here as I love this style (my grandparent’s house used to have this style so it brings back fond memories).
If I’m looking for unique decorative items for my apartment, I will for sure come back to this place.

Tracy and Scott are fantastic! I came in looking for the perfect tv stand /​dresser, armed with a picture and measurements. Owner Tracy actually went out and purchased exactly what I wanted!
The only down side is that I might start signing my checks to these people because I have a new apartment and I want everything in their store. See you next paycheck!

I’m looking for a mid-​century desk for myself at the moment, and while visiting my mom in Sacramento she said ‘ooh there is a cute store next to my yarn store that might have something’. We browsed, and while I didn’t find the desk I was hoping for there was so much good stuff I will have to bring my husband back for a look. Sweet sofas, end-​tables and china hutches in particular, with lovely figurines and lamps and tablewares with a kitsch/​retro feel. Shop owner/​employee was very friendly and available, but it was okay just to poke around. I just love that building and all the businesses in it and look forward to my next visit!

I visited MARK Vintage during their soft opening event. They had a lot of really cool furnishings and décor. Tracy and Scott were the hosts and they were super nice & helpful even though they were very busy that night. I ended up walking away with a really cool mid-​century wooden crane figurine — which was the perfect gift for my boyfriend’s mom.
The 2nd time I stopped by I happened to be in the area. I found a really cool handmade dress and a pretty mid length navy accordion skirt. Scott helped me out & told me where I could go to try them on. I liked that I received them in a reusable bag! I also noticed this visit they had a 2nd area open with more furnishings and décor.
It’s worth a stop because you never know what treasures you’ll find! Plus the owners are really nice!!!

Drool-​worthy mid-​century modern furnishings! Well-​curated shop with a couple racks of vintage clothes (what I was hunting for). I didn’t walk away with any items this time, but I’ll be back. The shop is tucked inside a larger artist building next to the Fox & Goose.

Literally just walked out of this place, came back to work and sat down to write this.
I went down towards the F&G area to get some tea with coworkers. I had little interest in buying tea (for me, hot tea is meant purely for fall and wintertime, summer is for ICED COFFEE!) so when we walked by m.a.r.k., I said, «I’ll catch up with you,» and quickly deviated from the route.
As soon as I walked in, Scott greeted me. There’s something about a scruffy, tattooed guy that always makes me feel welcome! We chatted while I browsed and he had a very good knowledge about the items in the store. He told me that they opened in March (… or May, of course I can’t remember) so I was really excited to be checking out some of this cool stuff so soon after they opened!
They have a great selection of everything vintage; from clothes to dishes to cameras and tchotchkes — they have it! Scott even pointed me in the direction of a few dresses that JUST came in that totally suited my style.
The prices were a little above my thrifty budget, but I could see myself coming here for a gift or a great dress from the 1960’s for a night out! I can’t wait to come back and actually buy something next time!

I discovered Mark Vintage while having lunch at Fox & Goose next door. It’s a super cute store, stocked with a well curated selection of Mid Century furniture and knick knacks. This is a really cool addition to Sacramento’s antique/​retro retail scene. I will definitely be going back.

Their name says it all! m.a.r.k vintage is a destination for anybody who appreciates all that is midcentury, atomic, retro & kitsch. The owners Tracy & Scott are so warm and friendly and they’ve brought together a fantastic collection of home furnishings, accessories and apparel from that era. Items are reasonably priced and you can even take advantage of their FREE layaway. They’re conveniently located in midtown Sacramento within walking distance of Fox & Goose.
