Mahaffey Custom Tattoo

Shawn is great, my husband and I have been coming back to him for a couple of years now, and we’re always happy with his work. He’s easy going, very friendly, and always makes sure that you’re getting exactly what you want.

Shawn is a great person and an phenomenal artist. He is incredibly talented and his attention to detail is unparalleled. I’ve always been somewhat intimidated by other tattoo artists I’ve worked with and have hesitated to really vocalize what I want but not with Shawn. I have always loved watercolor style tattoos and have felt that other «typical» tattoo artists can’t execute what I’m looking for.
Shawn specializes in realistic, vibrant works of art and the tattoos he has done for me so far have exceeded my highest expectations. So far I have gotten a tattoo behind my ear and currently working on enhancing a foot piece that was started by another artist. Shawn took the existing design and improved it beyond my imagination! Shawn is amazingly talented! He and my husband planned my tattoo as a surprise Christmas present. Shawn has an eye for detail and made what started out as a perfect tattoo, even better!

I contacted Sean Mahaffey about to for my wife for Christmas present. I supplied Shawn with some similar artwork that I’d like from a video game and needed a some tweaking to create a tattoo for my wife. Sean was able to take what I provided him about my wife and create an excellent design that my wife was so pleased. I know that from now on Mahaffey’s custom tattoos will be the only place my family will get their tattoos Sean is a perfectionist and an Artist with a great eye for detail.

I’ve gotten tattoos from 3 different artists so far, and Shawn was far and away the best experience that I had. I came to him with just an idea and a few photos and what he turned those into was really amazing. He was always on time, extremely professional, always made the experience as comfortable as possible, and that’s with me being under the gun for up to 4 – 5 hours at a time. I was very happy with the outcome as well as the experience. 5/​5, would come back again (my other arm is feeling bare now…)

I started working with Shawn on a small cover up… Which turned into a forearm sleeve. Just over a year later now and our next will be a large tree on my back and shoulder. As an artist myself I have really appreciated his openness to a truly collaborative process. He is also great with the needle and makes it an easier experience.
I have recommended him to many friends and even strangers that asked about my tattoo and several have gotten a tattoo from him.

I searched for over 7 years for the artist who would understand what I wanted. For the size of the tat I am getting, there is no cover up. It has to be perfect from the beginning. 20+ hours into the tat and I couldn’t be happier. He took my ideas and desires and improved on them every step of the way. When faced with small writing, I told him He could just so a line to represent the words. He said he got it, and wrote the words in. They are legible and smaller than the writing on a quarter. His attention to the smallest detail keeps me excited for the remaining 20+ hours we still have on this massive tat. I recommend him to everyone I know. My aunt has even gone and got a tat from him and is now talking about getting more from him.

I’ve been going to Shawn for about 5 years now and followed him from location to location (with the same place until now!) He’s an excellent artist (he did the spider tattoo in the montage photo for me!) and has an incredible bedside manner. On top of it, he’s reasonably priced and just an all around awesome guy.
