Last Year on Earth Mayan Elite Event @ Tequila Museo Mayahuel

I knew I had been here before… but why on earth dont I have proof in review form, of my experience???
Ohhhh yeah, cause I drank a ton of the tequila and they had run out of food so I continued drinking MORE tequila. I guess that will ruin a gals memory of an event.
I do remember the watermelon drinks though, with the chili around the rim… very tasty. I also remember the pounding of the drums and the tops of feathers bouncing around in the front of the room, but being as it was so packed, I couldnt see what was going on.
I also have the faintest memory of walking, more like stumbling, to Pyramid to try and get something in my stomach to absorb all that delcious booze I had just consumed. but Alas, they were closed…
I shall try Tequila Museo Mayahuel again… sober. for a better review of the place

I think it’s pretty clear that Alex has seen Apocalypto one too many times. All joking aside, there were a lot of nice touches and unique aspects to this tribal tequila extravaganza.

While the event was great, the venue itself could benefit from a few suggestions:
~*~ Two words… COAT CHECK… or a coat rack at the very least
~*~ Open up the full restaurant space for groups of 100+
~*~ Install some acoustic tiles on the wall/​ceiling to reduce the noise
Overall I’d give Tequila Museo Mayahuel a 4, but all the finishing touches and combined effort Alex put into making this a great event goes well beyond the call of duty and easily earns the 5 star.

I only subtracted one star because I’m greedy and lazy and awkward, so I wanted more food and more space to sit down and move around without touching 93 483 people (respectively).
That being said, I feel sooo lucky to be an Elite with Alex as the CM. His events are so inventive and I love all of the themes. This one was no exception: Tequila Museo Mayahuel is a beautiful restaurant that was amped up with the amazing décor and wall paintings and slide shows. The Mayan dancers were such a nice surprise!
As for the food, whatever little appetizers I had were delicious! I’ve never had roasted cactus before. I was not quick enough (read: I sat down and never got back up… I’ll explain later) to get to the waitresses before the food disappeared, but I did try a few bites here and there and it was gooood. As for the drinks, the chili rimmed watermelon margarita and house margarita were really good… was there even alcohol inside? I guess it didn’t really matter because Don Pilar was there, and he brought a TON of tequila. I did not hesitate to try a one, two… seven samples, which inevitably led to me sitting down for the remainder of my time there.

The event was packed with Elites walking around and meeting other elites; who were very friendly. The main event was awesome too! A cultural experience with mayan dancers.
Much props to the Museo, the CM, the Dancers, and everyone else!

What a great time! The food was really good — some very inventive and unique Mexican fare, the drinks were fantastic — loved the tequila and the jalapeño margarita??? Out of this world! If the world does indeed end in the near future, I will be OK with that now that I have had a couple of those really great margs! I thought the dancers were a lot of fun — an unexpected surprise! The venue was really nice — service was very good. All-​in-​all, a really great night!

Dear Alex,
You did it once, you did it twice and im sure you will continue to do it over and over again! (dont think perverted) I enjoyed this event even if the place was a bit small. I felt like it was more intimate and gave a chance to let the elites meet each other. The margaritas were tasty! Probably one of the best margaritas i’ve tried. The watermelon jalopeno margarita was different and very tasty, it went really well with the Don Pilar Tequila shots. Don Pilar tequilla was tasty and went down really smooth. I wish them well with their business and would definitely purchase their bottles in the future. The Mayan dancers were full of energy and performed enthusiastically. I had a really good time at this event and met a lot of new elites. Thanks Alex for coordinating such an awesome event!

Wahoooo! Thanks Alex for a ridiculously awesome Unilocal Elite Event! I had tons of fun, and of course, I loved the food and drinks!
Sooo… imagine vultures, waiting for their prey so they can eat it… well… sadly, that was like me and Anna B., in which we were so not obviously waiting by the kitchen entrance, trying to snatch as many appetizers when the servers walked by… heh. Thankfully, the servers were really patient with us and gladly offered us more food.
The venue was beautifully decorated, with a cool mural at one side of the wall and random video clips playing on the other. To top it off, there were Mayan dancers passionately doin their thang! I felt like I was at some tribal fiesta! Thanks again, Alex, for the amazing event!

Another awesome show of Unilocal events. It was nice to stay in theme with the end of days Mayan dancers and décor. The food was grand, of which I had the mini chorizo tostada and the mouth watering shrimp taco topped with chipotle sauce. I wish I had more but there was way too many social interactions going on here at this party.
I love the diversity of all the Unilocal parties that reflect the aspects of our capital city. Hopefully everyone had a chance to mingle and connect. Returning on topic, the spicy chili margaritas were mucho grubo, especially with the watermelon piece to top it off.
The tequila tasting table was a nice touch. We even got to meet and take photos with the maker. I loved the blended flavor of the darker tequila. Very smooth. The addition of the coveted red Unilocal watch was definitely a treat. Another awesome time. I don’t want the world to end because there is so many more cool Unilocal parties to attend!
Our photographer was very attentive and accommodating with the attendees, even after a little bit of drinking. The venue was a tad small for the crowd when the dancers took to the main floor, but after the show, there was plenty of room to smooze. Looking forward to the next event!

Everything was cooooool from the tasty tequila tasting that proved to be quite smooth (so we came back for seconds/thirds…maybe forths?) and the legendary Unilocal watches we have… if only I can figure out how to set the correct time.
I had my first sip of a Mexican Salt Rimmed Watermelon Margarita, it was really different from their already tasty house margarita, more of a refreshing taste. I’m actually craving some more of it right now… sigh
The only flaw of the night was maybe how cramped the vicinity was but that was also bittersweet, allowing us to talk/​mingle to everyone around. So after a couple drinks, I doubt anybody really cared :)
Really can’t wait for the next event Alex, see all of you guys soon!

My FIRST Unilocal event for my LAST year on Earth!
I was not disappointed, I mean, come on– great event, great looking Unilocalers, great Mayan dancers and great drinks!!! I’m a very light weight drinker and the spiced watermelon margarita was heaven! My friends even used it as a chaser! (I wish I would have at least tasted the tequila but my plus one was doing more than enough drinking for the both of us-​he was the one that called out to everyone to get into the group picture at the end of the night.) My boyfriend and I, both had a great time and we can’t wait to attend future Unilocal events.
I went to the Mayan Ruins in Yucatan Mexico last year and their dancers were not nearly as entertaining as the ones we had at the event in SACRAMENTO! The drummer was hitting it hard! You go girl!

Well, I was hoping to see some crazy stuff go down when the dancers came out and the drums starting beating. unfortunately they kept it pretty PG. I guess we’ll continue to keep the wild sacrifices to the after parties!
I enjoyed the expensive tequila tastings. Which I took total advantage of, I mean why not! My margaritas were good but watch out, some of them were way too sweet. Still, my sweet tooth and the alchy inside of me kept chugging them down. The appetizers were few and far in between but quite delicious and nutritious!
All the regulars were there with tons of other people I’ve never seen around but that’s cool, it made for a room full of packed people! And when the lighting got dim we all became super sexy Unilocalers! A room lit by candle light really make all of us look like we have supermodel cheekbones!
It was a good event, but I’m still angry at the Unilocaler that stepped on my foot! Thanks for the bruised toe! I’m going to hunt you down. (I’m kidding!)

When the world ends, I want to be swilling tequila, eating great food, being hypnotized by drumming, and having my butt fondled by Unilocalers.
Oh, wait. That already happened.

Alex, you’re such a delight to have as a CM. I am the most fortunate gal to come to such incredible events. It’s always a pleasure to see you! Thank you for your kindness, and for creating such diverse events. We went from Disco soul to a end of the world celebration. Love it!
Oh my, my, my. Spicy Watermelon Margaritas=the perfect summer drink. Thank you, Tequila Museo Mayahuel for introducing me to my newest obsession. Following that, the bartenders are next. They were super cool and adorable! I dig those guys!
So I hate giving super awesome and free events less that 5 starts. I feel like an ass, but by no means do I intend on coming off ungrateful. However the previously mentioned noise level and squished feeling are my only two strikes. I think Tequila Mueso has a really intimate, sexy vibe that was thrown off slightly by the amount of packed bodies in that space. But DAMN, did all those bodies look gooooood! We Unilocalers sure know how to dress up.
Don Pilar knows his tequila, that’s for sure. The tasting set up was a fabulous idea. I tend to stay away from drinking just straight tequila, but the more floral of the two made me realize «hey, tequila stuff isn’t too bad after all!»
Finally, the dancers were a really creative touch. It really tied everything together.
Thank you, Unilocal,for another super event. Because of you, and my new Unilocal watch, I never have an excuse to ask «what time is it?»

Hells yeah! Alex L did it again, my friends. This was the perfect event to cheer me up after days – no, weeks – of unpredictably crappy weather.
The Venue: Tequila Museo was awesome all around with great ambience, delicious tacos, and staff that was there to please.
Mayan Dancers: Yeah, we totally had «Mayan» dancers, and they killed it! It must have been hard for them to go balls out like they did since they only had a small space to dance, but they pretty much kicked ass nonetheless. I love tribal shit like that, so I was all into it. I chilled throughout the whole show sipping on tequila and feeling the drumbeat. So my thing!
Tequila Tasting: I’m not much of a tequila drinker, so I can’t say whether or not this stuff was spectacular. However, what I can tell you is that Don Pilar (the man whose face is on the bottles of tequila) was there representing his brand. How cool is that? Yeah, pretty f-​in cool!
Unilocal Shwag: Kick ass digital watches. Need I say more? I think not.
Coolest Moment of the Night: Sneaking a peek of Rachel Z’s pink panties. They totally matched her Prada purse – tres chic!
Biggest Regret of the Night: Missing out on Marina C’s butt fondling frenzy. How was I supposed to know it was a free for all?

Fantastico! Its always nice to see my favorite fellow Unilocalsters new and old– even if we only were able to stay for the first half–
(I’ll have to drag my ass to a HH very soon, if I’m able)
The dancers/​drummers were a super rad touch… I guess my only «meh» comment would have to be that it may have been better to hear this kinda drumming outside– ONLY because I wasn’t able to really converse with others as much– But I thoroughly enjoy this kind of entertainment;)
This venue is pretty kick ass– Tequila is my summer drink. The Don Pilar was amazing (Thank you for coming Sr Pilar!!) I preferred the blanco, but the anejo made me feel like a manly lady (in a good way?) The appetizers were sahwheeet (well, savory, really) My favorite was naturally, the chorizo– I loved the red sauces in a few other foods.
Everything was set up so nice and very chic– I loved the candlelight, standing tables, swag everywhere, scoring shots glasses and saying «hello» to familiar and not so familiar faces.
Thank you soooo much to Alex and everyone who helped throw a pretty neat event!

Major Guatemalan Kudos for Alex! If it truly was the end of the world, I wanted it to be in this venue, with awesome Unilocalers and those fantastic watermelon-​chili margaritas! Hot damn those were tasty! Not to mention the tequila bar, can I get an amen???
When I first saw the restaurant, I was a bit concerned about the sardine-​can feeling, but I quickly realized that it would only mean me getting closer to a few HOT UnilocalERS! End of the world baby, I’ve got to smack a few asses and pinch a nipple here or there. Right Jefferson?! This venue created the close-​knit environment needed for me to pull this off.
The highlight for me was the human sacrifice of our dear Community Manager. I felt like I was in that episode of True Blood. The high energy dancing was thrilling and the colors really brightened up the joint. All in all, the entertainment factor was put into high gear. Oh yeah, I was just joshing you about the sacrifice… or was I?
I will mention this… I definitely need to come back here — not only because I enjoyed myself tremendously, but because I left hungry and wanted more food! When I stopped a server long enough to give me some appetizers, (after intense hunger pains, I practically begged for crumbs), everything I ate melted in my mouth. A little odd for Mexican food… but extremely delicious! A full meal needs to be eaten at this culinary haven, and SOON. Humpy Hour anyone?

This was my first Sacto Unilocal Elite event and I gotta say, Alex L you did an outstanding job putting this event together.
Tequila Museo Mayahuel is located in a great location. It’s at the intersection of 12^th and K st. One block from the State Capitol. Next door to the Hyatt and LOTS of valet parking and parking lots to chose from, so there was no excuse for anyone to be late and not have a great time.
Our night started off at the bar where we sampled some tequila’s, a «off the frickin’ hook» watermelon margarita and mojito’s. I want to thank our bartender Gill for not only making some great drinks, but taking the time to explain some of the history of tequila making to us.
Standing next to the kitchen’s door, the wife and I were able to sample the different appetizers as they emerged into the room. I enjoyed most of the snacks, but those taco’s were incredible. In fact, I was so impressed by the appetizers, I ordered dinner after the event.
Other than to the appetizers and alcohol, the evening boasted a Aztec ~ Mayan dance show and some great socializing with old friends and some new ones like; Stacy H and her husband Tim. You guys rock and I look forward to our next reunion.
Over all, a great night. Well worth the trip from the valley.

SITREP
The «Last Year on Earth Mayan Elite Event @ Tequila Museo Mayahue» lived up to everything that one could ever expect, and MORE, given the fact that we got cool red watches to tell time when we are faced with the global destruction of the end of the world and time… as we know it.
So we celebrated in STYLE! With authentic Mayan food, incredible tasty margaritas, and celebratory traditional dancing by Mayan Indians in regal traditional wear.
THE SETUP
Tequila Museo Mayahue is an outstanding venue right on the K Street Mall @ 12^th Street. This affords the foot trafficker the opportunity to take in the surrounding Capitol scenery and then just pop on in for some well-​deserved refreshments and food.
Alex, Christina and the Unilocal crew provided an a fun, festive environment all of us to enjoy and socialize in.
THE MENU
The taste treats included delicious tidbits with beans, cheese, seafood and other yummy mixes. There were even some delicious small tacos to be had if one was quick enough to snatch one up.
And who can say «NO» to a Spicy Pepper Watermelon Margaritas?!? Apparently not me! I absolutely LOVE all three (3)… wait…(Alex gave me another ticket) …four (4) of those refreshing puppies!
THE DANCING!
There was an exquisitely dressed Mayan Indian dance troupe that provided some native music and dancing skills to regale all of us with. With the pounding of the beating drum, the Indian dancers shared creative, synchronized dance steps and movements that held us in awe of their ancient talents.
THE SOCIALIZING
It is always fun to meet in person the Unilocalers that we have spent many weeks, if not months, sharing hiLARious Talk-​Threads and Compliment-​bombardments with. Sacramento is really really lucky to have an exceptional group of fun, spirited Unilocalers.
THE GOOP!
And then surprise upon surprise! As if the night’s antics weren’t enough, there were cool red Unilocal watches given away to the Elite members at the end of the night. Wow. Plastic Red Watches! It doesn’t get any better than THAT! ;^D
Oh! And then… there were more margaritas! So it DID get better! So all in all, an incredibly fun night!
