KC Smog Center

Old dumpy building, probably an old gas station from back in days when you could have your car repaired there and they would pump the gas. Most people on Unilocal have never seen that. I always find coupons on line which is important since we have to smog three vehicles this year. $ 38 out the door for the Nissan. Do not understand negative reviews but there was someone new performing the test today and I have no complaints. Everyone was paying cash. Not sure if they take cards. They used to charge less for paying cash. Not sure what the policy is these day. This part of town cash is king. Print coupon before going to the place.

My family has been going here for years. Mr. Hernandez is the technician that did everything from getting the paper work done to the test. He’s very quiet and right to business. I called to see if I could bring in my car. He said, «No problem.» I told the make and year of my car and he quote me a very low price for the smog test. There was no hassle coming here although if you blink you might over shot the turn in. Yes, it’s in an awful spot. On the other hand it’s clean and efficient.

The young man who helped me today was very friendly, a little quiet (not complaining) answered all of my questions over the phone and in person, gave me an accurate estimate of wait time, had my car in and out in 7 mins, honored my coupon that I got online and took a picture of (yes, took a picture of a coupon on my phone and he honored it without hesitation! Crazy customer service!) The neighborhood is crap (all sorts of weirdos walking around) but I will come here again!

The best place to smog you car. Workers were friendly and very helpful. Flat rate and fast service. Will recamed this place to all.

Dont go here any more. I been coming here for a several years. According to the guy here the older owner is gone and its some guy with an attitude. No eye contact just a little punk who thinks he is better than everyone else. I am one to support small businesses and it takes a lot to piss me off. But with the way I was treated was wrong and I havent even signed the paperwork.
A good business always keeps his customers happy because they always come back. All my 6 cars are now taking our business elsewhere.
I wish the best for this company but honestly treating people like this is a good way to send this company packing.

Customer Service SUCKS! The guy acted as if I was disturbing him. Not another sole in the place so it wasn’t as if he was busy. Total A$$

Good considerate people, fast and accurate work. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Highly recommend this place. Some work going on at the corner so have to enter by Fruitridge rd, but good place.

Very good place if your in the Sacramento area stop by KC Smog hands down best smog place in Sacramento. The smog tech was very polite and explained why we failed and how to fix the problem. Went back for my re-​test and I passed. Very happy this place helped me.
Price was very reasonable.

No frills, in and out in under 30 minutes, accurate to price on coupon (out the door less than $ 40 for check + certificate), what more do you need from a smog place? If your derrière requires cushions or your skin requires air conditioning, this ain’t the place for you! Props to Macy the receptionist for being friendly, and to the mechanic for being quick.

I got a coupon for this place to get a smog check for $ 30.
They do their job, that’s for sure. But definitely no customer service. The receptionist is cool, but the mechanic needs to work on his people skill. He spent a lot of time flirting with the receptionist. My car failed because of an ignition timing issue. They do offer free retests though.
Took my car to another shop. Guy there told me that my timing was indeed off, but only by a slight margin. That it should have passed smog anyways. He set it regardless, but didn’t charge me for it. I guess it was only off slightly to that extent. Where he felt wrong taking money for doing it.
Took it back to KC Smog. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to different machines being used or whatever mechanic thingy is done to figure this stuff out.
Mechanic dude with no people skill starts drilling me about where I got it fixed if I’m absolutely positive that it was done right. A bit patronizing. I know I don’t know jack shit about cars, and I don’t pretend to. But dude, relax. The receptionist could tell I was a bit put off by his demeanor so once he stepped away she explained that it was so I could pass with the free re-​test instead of failing again and paying for another test to be done. That I understand and appreciate, but how am I supposed to have known that?
Mechanic dude with no people skill comes back after about 15 – 20 minutes. Says I passed. Hooray. Then he just says «$ 10»
Me: What?
Him: $ 10.
Me: For… what?
Him: The certificate.
Oh ok! So I hand him $ 10. Then he gets defensive while saying the re-​test is free but the certificate isn’t. Like I was trying to wrangle my way out of paying, when I hadn’t said a thing. I was just confused by his random 10 $. Use full sentences dude. I can’t read your mind. I said that was fine, I just didn’t understand what he meant by just saying 10 $ and he immediately calms down and all of a sudden develops some semblance of manners by saying thank you to me. Too little too late homie.
If you want a cheap smog test only center and don’t mind a dude not speaking full sentences at you, come here. But I feel like there’s similar deals to probably far friendlier places elsewhere in Sacramento.

Ive been coming here for years now and got my car smogged here a couple weeks ago and new owners the girl in the front counter doesnt know anything about smog and couldnt advise me of what failed. Old man Smog tech took forever just to smog my car, I had 1 car ahead of me and i still had to wait 1 hour and it failed for emissions but not by much. Im definately never going back here and it pass else where!

Alright, so I will say that there is one good thing about this place, if you have a coupon it’s very cheap. However, the smog center itself is extremely run down, the waiting area was hotter than outside (it was 95+ outside). It’s run by a bunch of 20 – 25 year olds in gym shorts and shirts who are more busy cleaning there own cars and letting there friends get smogged in front of you. They quoted me 40 minutes, which was reasonable since there were 2 people ahead of me. However, they let one of their friends who showed up go before me! And I know that he wasn’t there before because the two people ahead of me got there right as I did. So I had to wait over an hour in the 95 degree heat. Definitely not worth saving a few bucks, I’ll go to someplace more respectful and professional next time.

Local and honest. Flat fee and no bs.

Great place in and out will be back in 2 years when I have to go through it again for D.M.V. =)

Just went back to get my car smog-​ed for D.M.V. and in and out the guys were very nice helpful and it passed.

Very fast! I was in and out the shop in no time! Workers there were extremely helpful and made the smogging process a whole lot easier than I thought! I definitely recommend them to anybody thats looking for a knowledgeable smog shop!

The guys there are very helpful, and nice. It was quick smog. The price is $ 50.00 flat. I would recommend people to go here.
Remember it is just a TEST ONLY STATION!!!
