Greenwise Joint Venture is focused on a bold vision to transform the Sacramento area into the Emerald Valley: the greenest region in the country and a hub for clean technology.

As an independent nonprofit, we serve as the region’s conduit to green opportunities and investment – creating jobs for our communities and fostering environmental stewardship.

The Sacramento region includes the counties of El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba.

History

Established in 2012.

In May 2010 the Greenwise initiative was launched by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson to convene, coordinate and align leaders in the region and establish a shared vision for the future.

The Greenwise team convened more than 275 experts and community leaders during an eight-​month initiative and identified challenges and opportunities through five policy committees: Energy, Green & Clean Technology, Urban Design & Green Building, Waste & Recycling and Water & Nature.

Greenwise Joint Venture formed as an independent nonprofit organization in February 2012.
