Excellent Resource For Helping Disadvantaged Individuals in Sacramento
SITREP
I first became aware of this outlet of the Salvation Army when I was involved in some of the soup kitchen volunteerism responsibilities that I have participated in for Loaves & Fishes in the same block area as The Salvation Army
SETUP
Just north of the Downtown District of Sacramento and sandwiched between the 12^th and 16^th Street boundaries of this neighborhood, this community of services — that includes The Salvation Army — provides for some exigent services that alleviate the suffering of individuals who have newly found themselves on the streets.
SERVICES
Besides providing emergency temporary shelter and clothing & food services, this Sacramento branch of the Salvation Army also provides some employment direction & counseling services to help steer individuals that are truly looking for employment opportunities, avenues in which they can pursue a more self-​determination of rising out of circumstances finding themselves homeless.
THE LOWDOWN
Sacramento’s branch of The Salvation Army is doing a lot of good work, but is always in need of both financial and physical resources to help an ongoing population of homeless individuals.
