GHS Interactive Security

Received a knock at the door after 7:30pm. I listened patiently for a few minutes as the person told me he wasn’t selling anything, just wanted to put a sign in front of my house and I would get a security system installed for free. I said I wasn’t going to make a decision at the moment and would like information, a brochure or something so I could research the company. He said he didn’t have any. I politely repeated this several times, stating I wouldn’t make a decision at that moment. Someone else came to the door and I really felt it was a high pressure sales pitch. He finally said if I changed my mind I could call. I asked for a business card, he replied he didn’t have any. I asked, «How am I supposed to call if I don’t have your number?» He didn’t have a response. While the company itself seems legit, it makes me question whether these people are really with the company or some kind of scam. If they are really with the company, these pushy sales tactics are horrible and I would never sign up with a company that pressured me like that. I’ll research another company.

If I could give 0 stars for the companies equipment and some service I would! I’ve had my system for about 5 months or so and the installation first off wasn’t completed correctly, the have technicians who do not fully know what they are doing, one tech even told me that he just learned what he was doing at my house about 10 min before he came! Wth?!
I called to see how I could get notifications sent to my phone when there is motion around are house as we had someone still some tools out of my husbands truck, they csm out several times, did the tech support over the phone, etc. And still CANNOT get the notifications to my phone. My system is not fully up and running how it should and is very disappointing!
My alarm is ok, however, they did tell me that the motion sensor would be ok with my cats since they are inside, but would most likely go off with the dogs. However, that is not the case, as we’ve had multiple times where we are out and get a call that the alarm is going off and the picture it takes is of our cats!
I will be calling to cancel and looking for a new company!

is a good monitoring company, I’ve had some issues with customer service from ghs about the equipment, the issues were rectified BUT you will have to keep on calling to get to the right people to fix the issues. Overall not a bad security company but there is room for an improvement.

A young women knocked on my door 5pm, was not as knowledgeable about the company as much as she should have been when I asked specific questions. She first started off with letting me know she was not selling anything and wanted to just display the advertisement and give me info on the company. As a business women I am busy with certain tasks at home so I listened in with her for about 10 – 15 mins told her that is fine if her company wants to display the alarm advertisement on my lawn and I will be sure to look over the company and its features (literally looking for a alarm company for my home but every busy at home to further communicate with her) as soon as her supervisor came to my door with the packet he asked to see if my door was wired in the past with prior company’s for an alarm system WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, that made me feel uncomfortable. He felt on the top front door as well as the inside of the front door rim where a prior company would wire the house. I understand he wanted to check to see if my home was «qualified» but nobody let you touch the inside of my home. So going forward I let them know I would consider their company as soon as I said that it seemed as if that was a «hint» to them that I wasn’t going to actually look into the company which is horrible business instead of me considering their business I am on here giving them a one star on customer service. Well. On with my search for a home alarm system good luck to GHS and their upcoming in the market.

I was very impressed with the knowledge of my tech. He was super helpful and did an amazing job. He was early and finished on time. I sleep so much better now that we have our system installed. I love all the features and using
is very user friendly.
I would recommend GHS to all of my friends and family.

I’m not sure if the ladies who helped me recently all want their names publicly acknowledged so I’ll just omit them.
Heather for sure though just got right down to business and probed for the root cause of our issues. It was a very pleasant interaction and they sent another technician and updated our system’s vulnerabilities and placed the proper equipment that was needed from the beginning. I also received the referral gift card just as they promised last week.
I profusely thank them all for helping make it right and ensuring that my Family was safe. I’ll happily pay for our service knowing we’re all safer now.

I am pleasantly surprised and pleased with how well this ended up going! The installers were absolutely outstanding!!! They were extremely professional, nice and personable. They did an awesome job not only installing my alarm equipment, but also my cameras!!! Everything they did was perfect and outstanding. Thank you to Kyle, Josh and Dylan! They did an amazing job. Couldn’t be happier!!!

I’ve had a few hiccups due to pets setting off my glass breaker alarm etc.
The one person who has always helped me out and is the BEST technician GHS has is Trebor Hart.
This week I had an error in my motion sensor. I called GHS and they sent Trebor again. He was fantastic even after driving all the way from Seaside. He always has a smile on his face. He is always polite and friendly. He even pets my dog.
If everyone who came to my house to fix things was this wonderful, it would make my life so much easier. I hope he gets a company award for being a solid and dependable service technician that goes above and beyond.
Say what you will about the door-​to-​door salesman here on Unilocal,but I can atest that the service technician Trebor is awesome and the phone support has always been super.

I’m reading some of the reviews of how the door to door sales team were «sketchy,» and wondered if this was just another robbery scam in the making. I can understand why some would see it like that. I was approached in the evening time by a sales rep and I was suspicious at first also, but he explained to me why they were out so late. Most people are home at that time! They were a relatively new company just trying to get in the market. Going door to door is one of the easiest ways to try to get customers. I live on a corner and was asked to be a «promo house.» Installation and equipment was free and all I had to do was pay for the monthly. At the time, I was already looking for a security system, and the features, along with the cost was what sold me. I got a three year contract when others were offering a minimum of four. I’m totally happy with their service! My first notification of an incident came a month after installation. My inside garage door was not close properly and the wind blew it open. I first got a text on my phone, then not a minute later, a phone call from GHS. I was able to go home and close it.
When I have questions, Heather was always able to help me out, no problem. I haven’t had any issues. Lucky me! I’m going on my third year and will probably renew. I like ‘em.

Wow!!! Tonight 11÷9÷2014 at 9:00 pm a guy shows up at my door! No porch lights on! No sign that people are even awake, and my door bell goes off! He wanted to sell me security! DO YOU NOT SEE ALL MY ADT STUFF? Wait no you don’t. Why cause it’s dark outside. All I have to say is I don’t trust this company, and if you knock on my door one more time I will find a way to report you! Stay away from my house!

I had one of these sales guys come by this evening asking questions about my security system. After telling him I handle it on my own and that I am not interested, he continues to notice things in my garage and comment on them and try to strike up a conversation then proceeded to make a phone call to someone and attempt to get them to bring a «free» security system to me. I flat out told the guy he needs to move on… and get out of my garage… Be a bad plan for these guys if they want to cause problems around this house…

I do not have a problem with the representative who came to my door other than the fact that he stated not to call the central Sacramento office to cancel my scheduled installation but to call him directly. I decided it would be best to call direct and make sure that they understood why I was canceling. I was greeted by someone who sounded professional who then transferred me to the person I needed to talk with. I explained to the office staff that I was concerned about the negative Unilocal reviews along with reading some content on a reputable alarm company site about scams and sales people coming to your door with the GE logo (which was true in my case). I was just «doing my homework» as any consumer should do before paying out of pocket for a contracted 3 year purchase.
The problem began when the sales person’s manager called me. When I explained why I was cancelling, he proceeded to say that Unilocal filters reviews and they were not accurate. I have used Unilocal for years and have found them to be extremely helpful and have never had a bad experience when recommended. The manager began to argue with me telling me that they were a very reputable company (shall I say «LOUDLY» talking over my voice). When I explained that he was not making a good case for his company he told me that I was the one who was unprofessional and that they didn’t need my business. Let’s just say I reported this directly to the company office and then left this review.):

I heard a knock on the door at 8:45pm and it was two strange men claiming to work for a security company. My brother answered the door and stepped outside to speak with them. They introduced themselves, they never showed their ID badge or anything, and they started asking questions about our home security, questions that were indeed RED FLAGS that brings up the thought that these guys are possible criminals.
My brother’s girlfriend and I were listening behind the front door, and many times my brother told them we were not interested. They asked us about how secure we feel about our home and if we felt safe. We said yes. Then they would raise their voices and said false claims about our current security system. My brother would constantly say that we’re satisfied with our current security system, we said yes. then they started badgering us with even more questions about how our home was laid out, which brings EVEN MORE suspicion, and downright, I felt like these guys were scoping the neighborhood looking for an easy home to target.
Then, they said they could install a «Free Security System»; place monitors and other security products in the house, and that they could do it right then and there for «Free».
We said «NO!» for the 9^th time.
THEN they asked if they could come inside in an angry tone.
NO!!!
I locked the door as the salesman continued to badger my brother outside, the salesman eventually started arguing with my brother, saying that our home is not «safe» that there has been an increase of number of break-​ins in our area, etc, etc, and eventually, they told us that were in imminent danger of being robbed if we don’t let them come into our house at almost 9pm to install this system.
My brother’s girlfriend got VERY CONCERNED with the raised voices and shady comments of the salesmen, and we heard enough RED FLAGS and she told me to call the cops. Cops show up, and pulled them out on the street to talk because of our complaint of possible shady and suspicious activity.
Turns out GHS is a verified legitimate company, but if this is what they train their salesmen to do and how to conduct business, well, from what I experienced, this is still one shady security company in my book.
I won’t be surprised if we’re not the only ones to call the cops to report possible shady and suspicious activity.
This company has HORRIBLE AND UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES.

I am writing this review as of Monday night, March 24, 2014. Just less than an hour ago, around 8:00 p.m., a sales rep from GHS Security came to our door. We did not have our porch light on, and it was pitch black outside. My younger brother answered the door, and a rather jovial young salesman in a neon green safety vest said he was with «GHS Smart Home» and asking if we had gotten the brochures in the mail that they had sent out (we did not). We immediately told him we were not interested because we do not generally like receiving strange solicitors in the darkest hours of night.
The reason this troubled me so much is that this happened last year around the same time, with a sketchy young man showing up at odd hours claiming to be a representative for some kind of security company that I had never heard of and asking if we received advertising materials in the mail. Afterwards, I immediately looked up «GHS Smarthome» on the computer, and came up with nothing. I suspected it was a fake company, and I sincerely thought that these «GHS» sales reps simply bought some neon safety vests from Walmart and got their materials from some cheap printing company so that they could pass themselves off as utility company workers and more easily case houses that they were planning to burglarize.
However, my brother did a more comprehensive search and found that GHS Interactive Security is apparently a real company based out of Sacramento. These boys were far from home, if that is the case. Now, I realize that door-​to-​door sales are hard as many customers are not home during regular business hours, but this is just ridiculous.
I was left with the feeling that this was a fake company, or a front for some form of criminal enterprise. With sales tactics this execrable, how on earth could they have stayed in business so long? Of course, maybe that explains why they were so far from Sacramento (Visalia is 240 miles south of Sac): practically everyone in Northern California is sick of their nonsense and they have to travel farther and farther south to find customers.
Even assuming this is a legitimate security system company, and, again, I have my doubts, these sales tactics of going door-​to-​door in strange neighborhoods at night are extremely dangerous. It could end up getting these innocent sales reps arrested and thrown in jail on suspicion of attempted burglary or breaking & entering; it can end up getting them injured; or it could even end up getting them killed.
For all I know, this company’s security system may be top-​of-​the-​line, perhaps even the best in the business, but I really do not care. I think people should go with security companies that provide quality security systems but (1) do not endanger their sales reps in order to do so, and (2) that do not frighten and worry the public with extremely suspicious, creepy, and hard-​sell sales tactics. Security companies and their representatives should ideally make you feel secure, not make you feel like you are about to be robbed.

GHS reps apparently do not know how to read. Despite my large «no soliciting» sign, he still knocked on my door.
Pushy rep, trying to make it sound like we’re getting something for free. Really annoying. Most people don’t like it when you knock on the door and push some product or service on you that you don’t need. Was in the middle of cooking dinner and I overcooked my spaghetti. Thanks a lot GHS.

Incredibly rude and overly persistent sales people. They came by way late (near 9pm) in the evening waking my children up. Flat out rude and discourteous sales people. Had two salespeople come by in 24 hours after telling them both we didn’t want them at our house. Even after telling him to leave, he just stood there and started going into another sales pitch.

Let me be honest and say we have done no business with this company, now I will explain why. At after 19:30 we have a knock on the door, my wife answers thinking it the neighbors who we are expecting only to find a ghs sales person at the door. He wants to «give us» an alarm and installation valued at $ 1500 he says, my wife tells him we are not interested, he continues to Badger her and asked to speak to the husband. She again tells him we are not interested, he asks if he can come back an hour later (nearly 9pm!) and again is told no. Then he asks if he can come back in an hour and speak to me. Again she says no, not interested — the salesperson then has the gall to tell her our children’s safety must not be important to us!
This is why I justify a 1 star review, my first review in a very long time.

So far my experience with GHS has been a great one. When we first moved into our house about 8 years ago, we decided to use the same security company as the previous home owner because the equipment was already installed.
Over the years I had seen new technology come out and was disappointed that Monitronics did not offer any reasonably priced upgrades. So when GHS came to my house I was very nervous about the method of which GHS was trying to get me to switch to their security company. Monitronics has constantly preached about door to door selling of security equipment being a scam. I advised Randy, the sales associate of this information and that I wanted to do more research before I made a decision. Randy left briefly giving me some time to quickly research the company. I visted BBB, looked for reviews, checked out the company website, etc.
When Randy came back with his lead sales associate I decided to hear them out further. Their company was offering everything I wanted as far as upgrades so I took the plunge with a 3-​day option to cancel and the install of my new alarm to be 3 days away.
Over the next 2 days I thought more about how I was sole the alarm system and something still wasn’t sitting right with me. I did more research and was still nervous seeing some of the reviews out there for GHS. I kept asking myself; «Did I do the right thing? Is it too good to be true? Did I get scammed?»
Finally, I had an idea. Compare my current company’s BBB record with GHS. GHS was accredited since 2009 on BBB with 6 compaints over the last 3 years. Monitronics, accredited since 2011 on BBB with 622 complaints in the last 3 years. That feeling I was having, ya it was hardly there now. I also read about the difficulty with closing accounts with Monitronics and now that feeling had shifted to my old alarm company.
Randy told me to cancel my alarm the day before installation and I am glad I did. I later found out it takes a 30day notice to close your acct with the request being faxed or mailed to Monitronics. Luckily I havent had the same experience as others regarding cancelling with Monitronics, but I was no longer nervous and willing to give GHS a full fledged try.
The installer, Dave came by and I was happy with how knowledgeable and professional he was. He answered all questions I had and took the time to make sure I knew how to use everything. Dave made sure the installation was clean and everything worked right.
I am very happy with my new security alarm so far. I can now use my smartphone to activate/​deactivate/​monitor my alarm, adjust my thermostat, and even get pictures from my motion capture camera. The alarm has a zwave controller which allows me to add all kinds of great features, like door locks, plugs, sensors, all that can be controlled from my smartphone or internet. Randy also advised me if new technology comes out, the GHS will upgrade my system. The service also includes repairing anything that breaks as well as $ 1000 towards my insurance deductible should I experience a burglary or fire.
With that said, I have not had to use GHS’s 24hour/​7day monitoring yet and hope I never have to. If their response and service is as good as I have experienced so far, and I have no reason to believe otherwise, then my decision to change alarm companies was the right one. THE SALES ASSOCIATE LIED! Kyle, came to my door, I live in Yuba City. He came in and sold me a security system that I was very excited for. HE SAID «You will have one camera and sensors on every door with GLASS BREAK sensors throughout the ENTIRE HOUSE so if anyone breaks the window the sensor will go off» The main point was that I had glass break throughout the entire house, to later find out that was a lie.
Throughout the entire sales meeting he kept telling me that he needed to sell two more systems in that day which was very unprofessional.
As soon as i called him to tell him that what he told me was false, that the glass break sensors only cover the windows that were in line of site according to the technician (who was very honest and helpful) he then apologized for not knowing his sensors range well enough after proclaiming 3 – 4 times that he GUARANTEED that every window would be covered!
BOTTOM LINE THE SALES REPS LIED! they wasted my time, the installers time, and their own time to meet their sales quotas.
IF I COULD GIVE ANY ADVISE, DO NOT GO TO THIS COMPANY! THEIR TEAM IS NOT CREDIBLE AND THEY HIRE DISHONEST SALES REPS!!!
