History

Established in 1985.

Ettore Ravazzolo was only 16 years old when he moved from his small hometown in Switzerland to begin a 3-year, full-time Pastry Chef apprenticeship at a bakery in Zurich. Ettore quickly distinguished himself as one of the top apprentices in Zurich and became a talented Pastry Chef all before he turned 20 years old.

To complete his required Swiss military service, Ettore joined the Swiss Army and was employed as a Chef for the mountain infantry. Imagine cooking for 200 soldiers based at 14,000 feet in the Alps. This would be the first of many adventures that would lead Ettore to America and eventually, to his home in Sacramento.

When Ettore opened his European Bakery in 1985, he made wonderful desserts, sweets and cakes that people had never seen or tasted before. His insistence on using only quality ingredients, combined with his specialized training and a flair for presentation, quickly made Ettore’s a continued favorite destination.
