East Lawn Memorial Parks Mortuaries & Crematory

We buried our son there 4 years ago and visit his grave quite frequently. I am always pleased to see that the grounds are so well kept and even if his flowers have wilted and been thrown away in between visits, the grass around his headstone area is always nice and clean. I recently visited and needed to also put flowers on another grave but I needed help locating it. When I went into the office I was greeted by «Meredith». She had the location all looked up and ready for me when I arrived. She brought out a map of the grounds and tried to show me where to go but discovered that the information was incorrect, so she offered to escort me there. It was far from the office so she gave me a ride in the cart and even had the maintenance man «Omar» come over and help us get the vase out of the ground. Omar was so helpful. He even drove to the shop and got some tools to get the vase out for me. Then he took the vase and went and rinsed it out for me. While I was there with Meredith, she noticed that the headstone was very oxidized from the hard water and offered to have it polished and said she’d also have my sons polished. I left there so happy and impressed by the kindness of these two people.

Really not sure how I would rate this. My grandfather, grandmother, and other family members are buried here. It does seem peaceful here and it is maintained decently. I did experience one bad experience here. After a funeral of an elder lady she was scheduled to be buried at this cemetery. When we arrived at East Lawn with the body, they have not begun to dig the hole for the casket. It was very warm outside so they had to take the body back inside until the hole was dug up. There was a 2 – 3 hour delay and the main family members had to come back to watch the casket lowered into the ground.

I felt the need to update this review as I was here for the wake, funeral service and interment of my aunt today.
East lawn did an excellent job of taking care of the needs of the family. My aunt’s body viewing was displayed beautifully. The funeral service was so well done where all three of the sons spoke. The one granddaughter who sung to her grandma while she was alive sung «Amazing Grace» today that it literally tug on everyone’s heart strings even her own that the other granddaughter ran up to give her hugs. Even the greatgrandson at the very end came up to comment about his Greatgrandma like she was still very much alive!
You can tell family was of huge importance to Auntie Dorothy. It literally showed through today. I had to update my review of this place because this was the first time ever I was here for a wake & funeral service. I had been here before for my father’s interment & a few others too but not for a full on funeral.
I really was impressed by the professionalism of this company that if I wanted to have a funeral done here I know that it would be done by the best people of the business! No doubt!!!

Beautiful cemetery. Hopefully it will be a while before I end up here. Until then I like to stroll through here with my dog every so often on our daily walks through the 40’s. They even provide poop bags. If your pooch loves squirrels for lunch be careful as they are everywhere. I stick to the front area as the rear spooks me out a bit. Of course there are a number of historical plots here including mausoleums. Old city cemetery is more unique historically in my opinion but the setting here can’t be beat.

I like to walk around cemeteries. Some people may think that’s a bit weird, morbid, or freaky, but I find them to be serene places to walk. East Lawn is one of my favorites because it has awesome historical value and I actually enjoy reading some of the older headstones and thinking about the life that the people may have led in the 1800 to early 1900s. This is a very peaceful place that is inhabited by numerous squirrels and birds. I sometimes even bring my camera to take pictures of historic headstones or the beautiful rays of sunshine that peek through the tree branches.
If you have the chance to walk around, I highly recommend it. It’s a great place to walk and think or sit and ponder. Plus, it’s just plain pretty.

Well, I actually had to have someone take care of my father when he passed away. The other two reviews below are about the beauty and the Gypsues services that take place at the cemetery… which are fine… although if you are on Unilocal to find a place to concider for your family, and you want to set up arrangements ahead of time, this place does a great job. I actually worked with Mel at the funeral home off Greenback made arrangements to have my parents burried on Folsom property. Mel was very helpful, respectful and helped save me money and took such good care of me and my family. When my father did pass away everything was taken care of and the service at the Folsom cemetery was very memorable. I guess my father parties with the «king of gypsies» now …
I highly recommend doing buisness with these funeral professionals. They are honest and kind.

I’m a big fan of East Lawn Memorial Park. I pass by it nearly every day on my scooter. Every now and then I’ll turn in and take a slow drive enjoying the lovely trees and roads that wind through the gravesites. The mausoleum kind of freaks me out a bit, but it’s impressive nonetheless. I like the mini-​houses, I’m not exactly sure what you call them, but they’ll often have a memorial saying, some stained glass and whatever else they hold…
The security guard will sometimes throw me the hairy eyeball when I roll through (I’m always quite respectful) so the management can be assured that he is ‘on the job!’ I’m not intending to take up any more space when my time here is done, so I won’t become a patron, but if I were, I’d give it serious consideration as a final resting place.
I’d like to give a shout out to the city cemetery in Tallahassee, Florida. It’s right up the street from the FSU Music School. Great place to hang out…

In Memory of a G.B. — Gone but not forgotten…

East Lawn Memorial Park is one of the most intriguing cemeteries anywhere: forget the historical significance; forget that William Land is entombed there in one of the largest Parthenon-​style crypts this side of Athens; and forget that Captain B.T. Collins is buried there and is sporting a tombstone with an engraving of a hook that would make Captain Hook envious!
Forget all those things, but remember this — The King of the Gypsies is buried there. And in the crypt next door? The Queen! It’s clearly marked above the wrought iron gates — chiseled into solid granite: KING OF THE GYPSIES.
I was lucky enough to stumble upon this hallowed, Gypsy burial site the day after someone’s dearly-​departed was forever laid to rest. It was a sight to behold… There was a feast draping the tomb: meat; bread; cheese; fruit; desserts beyond your imagination! And dear lord, booze everywhere! Beer. Wine. Spirits. You name it!
Why was there a buffet in a graveyard? I was dumbfounded. And I guess my loitering caught the attention of the groundskeeper. He approached me and commented, „It’s really something, ain’t it?“ I replied, „I don’t get it.“ Then he told me the most amazing thing:
„These Gypsies,“ he whispered, „have more wealth than you or me will see in a lifetime. They live in Reno and Stockton and they’re very good customers of East Lawn. They pretty much do what they want when there’s a funeral; we close the gates and the place is theirs. They were here all night last night. They „party“ with the dead. You wouldn’t believe the jewelry they toss in them caskets before we close the tombs. They left all of this food and booze for the spirits to consume in the afterlife.“
The dude gave me the shivers, but my disbelief was suspended so I asked a final question, „And do the spirits imbibe the beer and spirits?“ The groundskeeper whispered, „Huh? Heck, no… I take all this crap home. It’s one of the perks.“
Until that day, I had no idea a groundskeeper had such a great job. No idea. None. And I knew then what I had to do… I was going back to my high school and punching my guidance counselor right in the mouth!»

I actually applied for a job here once. Just as a receptionist, not an embalmer or anything. I didn’t get the job but the people seemed really nice (I guess that’s what they pay you for in this line of work). The grounds and the office were outstandingly lovely. It used to be a Potter’s Field (where anonymous and homeless people are buried by the city) back in the day. In spite of that, it has a very peaceful feel to it. I would give them my business.

I love coming here alone. My oldest brother passed away when I was about 1, so I don’t really have many memories of him. He was in his early 20’s. I like to come and just hang out there once in a while… It’s always peaceful here.

I SEE DEAD PEOPLE. It’s a joke! Cmon, get over yourself. We’re all gonna go… when will it be? My dad’s number came up 12 years ago. Massive heart attack. He’s buried at the Eastlawn Memorial Park in the Helvetia wing. It’s a nice place. The Lawn is not «golf course beautiful» but it’s still pretty lush. Looks like a good place to practice chip shots. After visiting my dad’s grave and placing some golf tees I wanted to check out my grandparents final resting place too. I faintly remembered where they were located in the Palm Court section. There was the Azalea, Rose, and Magnolia sections. They were big azalea fans so I assumed Azalea section. Couldn’t find them. Went to the main office and they helped me locate them. It WAS the Azalea section! Somehow I missed it. I threw down some Rainbo bread ties and a pack of Marlboros and was on my way. Father’s Day at the Graveyard.
