Gabe Olson from Devco did an excellent job replacing our roof-​mounted HVAC, as well as installing new ducting throughout my home.
He came highly recommended by my coworker, who has had Gabe do work on properties that he’s flipped, as well as his own homes throughout the years. He said he’s the best HVAC guy in town, and I completely agree!
I called Gabe, and he was able to come by same day to assess the job. He emailed me a written estimate about a week later, and it was much lower than the other two estimates I got from other highly rated companies. I definitely got a better value for my money going with Gabe, and trusting that the job would be done right.
He scheduled a crane to remove my old HVAC, and lift the new one up to the roof. He installed the new 14 SEER Bryant HVAC that day, and rerouted the PVC drain line to the gutter (it previously was emptying water onto the roof itself, which was not right).
Gabe scheduled the ducting work to be done a few days later, and he completed it all in just one day! He hauled away the old ducting to complete the job, and I’m so happy with his level of work ethic, customer service, and with new efficient HVAC. Thank you Gabe!

Devin Olson came to the house, re-​lit the wall heater pilot light, turned it on/​off a few times over a minute or so, looked at the exhaust pipe, and then declared he did not know why the pilot light kept going out. What he didn’t do – and he should have done – was turn the heater on and let it run a full cycle (15 minutes, or so); because, if he had, Devin would have seen that the pilot light goes out, often, after a full heating cycle has run. But, he was gone, although he left his card and said to call him if there were problems. When I called to tell him I had videotaped the problem, and posted it on youtube (
), there was no call back. Two very cold days later, I am still waiting. I called again this morning. I will update this posting once I know how this will all end.
I did a bit of checking on Devin. It turns out he has been licensed by the CA Contractors State Licensing Board since 1987 (license 505 507). Unfortunately, I could not figure out a way to see if he has complaints on his license. I may write one, depending upon how this all turns out. I am the caretaker of a disabled sibling, so, I don’t appreciate the cold nights he is having to endure. Electric heating is not sufficiently keeping the house warm (I am running four electric heaters – one keeps blowing a fuse). On the National Supplier Registration the phone number listed for Devco goes to a sleepy woman who said she does not know Devin. Devin is on LinkedIn, but, his profile is not viewable. Curiously, at PowerProfiles (a website) there is also a listing for Devin, and it also says «I don’t want my information listed!” – I am curious to know why? Well, now it is listed here, at Unilocal.
Maybe Devin is too busy to come and fix the wall heater. But, he should have the courtesy to return phone calls, and at the least find a subcontractor to come out and do the work.
