Our most important move is your move! Since 1967, we have been moving people, logistical products and businesses locally, within the state, nationally and internationally. We specialize in all components of household goods moving; packing, crating, transportation and storage in our safe and secure warehouse.

We also perform office moving and modular furniture relocation and reconfiguration. With regards to office moving, our forte is project management and we hold certification as an IOMI office mover.

We also operate a distribution center that provides home and business deliveries per a stated schedule.

Our business records storage center, provides storage for business records, daily delivery and pick up of records, certified destruction of records, and even digitizing of business records.

History

Established in 1967.

We opened the doors in 1967 as Global Moving and Storage with the idea of offering our clients a broad spectrum of moving and storage services and establishing «quality service» as the company’s cornerstone. In 1990, we changed our company name to California Moving Systems and started our «interstate» affiliation with Atlas Van Lines. Along the way we added other lines of service, such as office moving, logistics and distribution, commercial storage and business records storage. Through it all, we have continued to grow, providing a workplace for our employees to have rewarding careers, without losing our focus on «quality service».

David and his brother are the second generation owners of California Moving Systems. David has worked at California Moving Systems his entire adult life, first on the trucks as a packer and driver, then in Sales and finally as an owner. David has also served the moving and storage industry as the chapter and State President of the California Moving and Storage Association. David leads the company in its pursuit of «absolute customer satisfaction» and along with the employees is responsible for our growth and our commitment to the greater Sacramento community.

Wow they are way over priced! The guy looked at my cars and all of the sudden my prices skyrocketed! I’m using Pacnbox movers they are way better price and their fees don’t go up and down based on the type of luxury cars you drive. Remember a quote is a quote it should be the same across the board.

Incredible. I’ve moved several times in the past few years for work and this has by far been the best moving experience ever. The three man team arrived promptly and despite the 100 degree weather had my apartment packed up within seven hours. They were polite, professional, and incredibly efficient. I couldn’t have asked for a better team.

95° and humid in Sacramento, no problem for these guys. Right on time, professional appearance, no nonsense approach. They unloaded our storage unit for us into our rental truck, but I’d have been confident having them do our entire move (Wish we could have had them with us on the other end in Oregon!).
We even got these guys on a Sunday, which for some moving companies was not even possible. Top notch, no wasted time, and they tied everything down in the truck so it wouldn’t move. Obviously, I only used these two guys, but if the rest of the company has this same work ethic, you can’t go wrong.
(The only slight glitch, and why it’s 4 stars and not 5, was that my phone contact promised me a callback on Friday and I didn’t hear from him until Sunday morning when we were getting ready to move, but it all worked out. Just the same, might not hurt to have a backup plan)

California Moving Systems moved my family yesterday and they did a great job. They showed up right on time and the work was professional. They didn’t scratch anything and they were so careful with our belongings. I had a huge custom fridge and they were able to move it to my new house without any damage. Loved the whole crew! The final charge came out to be $ 30 less than the estimate. That is amazingly close. My family loved them! Worth every dime!

CMS (aka Jack Higdon Movers) moved my family in Sacramento during October 2010. We had some VERY heavy furniture items that had to go upstairs in our new place (with a turned staircase). They were like surgeons with these items and worked steadily and carefully. I would highly recommend them. I believe the foreman’s name was Dan, and he and his crew were great.

I read many good reviews of this company on another website, so I called for an estimate. Judy was knowledgeable and helpful. I decided to use this company and her estimate was within $ 20 on a $ 3200 move! Very impressive. The moving crew was wonderful and made a stressful time much less so. They were exceedingly careful with my furniture and piano. However, I deduct one star because 1) they lost my LCD TV power cord (they packed the TV for me, charged me quite a bit to do so, and the cord was not in the box when it arrived at my new house), and 2) they lost several small shelf brackets. I was able to replace both these items but just after a move it was a nuisance, and the shelf brackets (really, small wooden «plugs») could have been removed and taped to the bottom of the small bookcase if I had been warned they were likely to get lost. ONE BIG CAVEAT: The movers you get on the other end of your long distance move may not be any good. Mine were TERRIBLE. They got sweat ALL over my fine furniture, were almost rude, and one of them had his small children in the van «helping» them unpack, which made it very difficult for me to keep track of the inventory numbers as they unloaded since several people at once were calling them out, etc. As a result, I didn’t notice until today (5 years later, editing this review) that they lost a large Rubbermaid tote full of my adult son’s childhood Lego sets, which he was saving in case he had his own kids. Also, my load had been transferred onto another van somewhere en route and everything was very dusty, even though I had carefully dusted everything before it was loaded.
I would highly recommend this company for a local move. Long distance, there are circumstances beyond their control, and you take your chances.

I had an estimate done on a Tuesday. Dan Skoglund came to do the estimate. Because he had to leave soon after, he wasn’t able to give me a written quote right away. He said he would call me that Friday and then mail me the quote the week after, as I didn’t have a fax machine. It is now the following Friday and I haven’t heard from Mr Skoglund. I am sure I ought to call California Moving Systems to inquire about my quote, but I have already decided to go with a different moving company so I will just leave it at that.
Mr Skoglund may just be quite busy and he forgot to get back to me. I’m not upset, because all it takes is one phone call on my part to inquire about my quote but there’s no point anyway.
I read on a moving website that California Moving Systems had some good reviews, hence I chose them as a company to do a quote. I still recommend them if you are looking for a reputable moving company, as there are a ton of moving companies out there that are a nightmare to deal with.
