American River Commons Apartments

I lived here for 3 years in a two bedroom with my roommate while i was in college and just recently moved out (just wanted a change in scenery) and we both really enjoyed it here. My roommate still lives there and he still really enjoys it. The complex for being filled with college students is surprisingly really quiet. i never had any problems with safety. Occasionally, when we did need maintenance it took a day or so to respond but other than that my experience here has been a great one!

This is a multi cultural apartment complex. Just to fore warn you. I saw 13 Hours the other day and this place looks like Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade lives here. I woke up the other morning and I could have sworn I heard the Fajr prayer calling all Muzzies to arms. I’m not a racist but my college has safe spaces, maybe this place could take a hint.

I LOVE this complex. I am quite confused as to how the management is getting such terrible reviews, the women in the office are incredible! The «older woman» that is receiving this reputation as having no customer service skills, her name is Louise, she is an amazing woman who cares for her tenants. She has been nothing but kind to me, my husband and my son. She lights up when I bring my baby into the office, she treats us like her own family. She even gave us tickets to a ball game because she couldnt use them! GOOD tickets, we were practically on the field. And you want to say she has no people skills? Maybe the people saying this are the ones lacking people skills… be kind to people and they will be kind in return. The other woman in the reviews Danette is just about the sweetest woman ever, I don’t think I have ever had a conversation with her where she didn’t smile the entire time. Danette is the type of person that looks up when leaving the office, says hi to the tenants remembers their names, remembers where they live, takes the time! And people want to complain about that?! Maintenance is incredible! I have lived here 2.5 years (2 different units) and I have called 4 times (a light went out, the toilet had a leak… nothing serious). 3 times maintenance was at my door in less than 2 hours! One time they were at the door in 10 minutes. The 1 time they took longer was because I called right before closing and it wasn’t emergency, so they were here by 9am the next day. is As far as the apartments themselves, yes they are older, no they don’t have granite counter tops or hard floors but give me a break who does? If you want to live in a place that is SAFE (patrolled by security constantly, go outside at night and you are guaranteed to find a security guard patrolling the premises), if you want friendly management that will work with you and you want an apartment that has working appliances and is quiet and calm this is the place for you. Ignore the other reviews… honestly. I am shocked. I cannnot say enough about how happy I am to live here. I feel safe, I feel cared about and I am not paying a fortune for it!

I LOVED my apartment. The size the patio maintenance was fast. But when i moved out after four years they took most of my deposit for bull reasons! I got a professional. Crew to clean my apartment. And you still manage to charge me $ 125 on cleaning the mess. And that doesn’t count to six hour plus dollars to fix the carpet supposedly. When I tried to ask him for the photos you took them weeks to give it back to me. Every time I try to talk to them they were rude after I moved out. They completely change personalities the second I moved out. Three stars for the great four years I had. The way they treated me at the end in the amount of money they took was ridiculous. I thought American River was better than this

This apartment complex is an OK place to live if you’re on a tight budget. As a college student I can afford to stay here with another roommate. I’ve moved once from a 3 bedroom to a one bedroom. The 3 bedroom apartment was literally so bad. The apartment looked like it was never cleaned before leasing again. The bathrooms had a horrible odor to them. After a year of staying there we moved to a one bedroom apartment and this apartment looked like it was just newly renovated. The bathrooms smelled like new as well as the bedroom and living room. Over this place is OK. Be warned for noise from upstairs if you live on the first floor.

If I could give a negative 5 stars I would! I was never told once that I had 72 hours after I put down a deposit to decide or else my 600 dollar deposit would be forfeited. Thankfully it says in the fine print that they can’t take your money if you aren’t approved. So I wasn’t approved then they inform me that I will get my deposit back within 21 days. I asked if I could pick it up and received a no. I actually use a lot of different complex a for work and the fact that no one informed me before I gave them the money order was extremely unethical. I asked for the owners information or to speak to the district manager and was told that they can’t give me that info. I don’t write reviews very often but how unethical this leasing office was has really rattled me. I will never work with this complex or refer anyone here.

I currently live here and let me say that it is complete crap. Lets start with the pros because there aren’t many. Pros: The grounds look nice, the pools are nice the apartment is ok and the place is not to rambunctious for being a mainly college student complex. Now for the cons. Cons: Cars get broken into (my car three times in particular), the new laundry room machines do not work well and the elevator is always broken one way or the other. It seems to be more important to them to redo the landscaping and replace the outside walls of the apartment building than it is to fix existing problems. For example the elevator either gets stuck on whatever floor it was left on and you have to go to another floor to get or it gets stuck altogether. The elevator should be top priority in the fix it list considering there is an elderly couple that lives here and one of them has to use a walker to get around. I can understand if it stops working every once in a long while. But when it turns into a multiple times a day issue then IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!

I lived here for 3 years during the end of my college time. I lived in 2 separate units within this time, one being a 3 bedroom and the other being a 2 bedroom. Overall I had a pleasant time. The rent was a little more affordable than other local apartments. My main complaint would be the deposit situation and how it played our both times. We cleaned and cleaned before moving out of both places. I understand they want it to be spotless and I just didn’t have the tools or items to make that happen. So I understand that I wouldn’t get my entire deposit back either time. I thought both places were pretty clean when we were done, but both times we only got $ 20 back of our $ 500 deposit. The gym also sucked here and usually had 2 or more broken machines. I liked the location it was from school, groceries and shopping. If you don’t mind getting ripped off with your deposit it’s a pretty decent place to live short term.

Our daughter and her husband and kids live here and we visit fairly often. But we got a chance to actually live there in the Guest Apartment for 5 days and we really loved it! Our son-​in-​law got us the one bedroom fully furnished apartment (furniture, TV with cable, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, cutting board, towels, bedding, TP, etc) and we had a wonderful time there. We got keys to the pool (which was clean even though it was not swimming season) and the laundry center so it was just like living there. The place is quiet and yet within walking distance of Safeway and some restaurants. The staff were really friendly. The complex has lots of greenspace, large grassy areas with picnic tables and BBQs with lots of trees and nice landscaping. We felt quite safe, which is a credit to their screening of apartment dwellers. The price of the guest apartment was half that of the Larkspur Landing extended stay hotel up the road near the Safeway which saved us a ton of money.

The office people are so rude. they can never get things done on time. I am currently living there while going to school and i walked up while they were walking out to get my school books that have been dropped off there. They would not unlock the door to check my package because they had already set the alarm. I had homework that was due and needed a book. I have also had issues when calling to get things fixed. the ladies in the office never put the reports in on a good time because they were «over whelmed» so i always had to wait for them to come fix something in my apartment which shouldnt be normal. NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE if you ask me. I cant wait to move out of this apartment complex and ready to move to a place that would will give me great customer service and help me and not themselves. isnt that how it should be?!
