A&E has been around for decades and is an old school shop with an expert owner /​operator who has supported the local community during that time. They know their stuff and if they don’t have something they usually know where to go, and their network of contacts for the other auto related businesses in the area is tremendous.
Jim (the owner) loves cars and will usually even help diagnose a problem when they’re not too busy. I send my parents there all the time and I can’t stress how little you see this type of service anymore. They’re really deserving of your business if you need some parts and want to support small, local stores.

Old school expertise that’s young at heart.
There are very few auto parts stores that stock light bulbs for a 6-​volt positive ground Studebaker electrical system. To my good fortune, A & E is one of them.
A & E’s unassuming exterior is home to a two-​level treasure chest of parts for cars old and new. The staff could have pulled a «pros only» attitude, but there was none of that. They were super helpful, encouraging, and enthusiastic about my ride. The staff also suggested a few websites that carried my car’s bulbs in bulk.
Anyone that is into car restoration will note that Franklin Blvd. is home to Acme Tops & Tunes, Gonzales Interiors, and many other excellent restoration and modification shops. A & E should be on the «to visit» checklist as well.
Sacramento never ceases to amaze me with its accessible, modest, and price-​conscious car service shops and parts resources. While there are many great aspects to Sacramento, these small, independent, mom and pop resources are one big reason to stay awhile.
