21st and R Self Storage and RV Storage

This place is horrible as far as being part of the neighborhood. It’s a hub for the homeless to stash their goods and I swear it’s a one stop shop for stolen bikes and bike parts. Unfortunately the ownership/​management/​employees only care about making a buck and could care less about the clientele that they bring to the neighborhood, especially because they’re homeless clientele is always leaving their stuff (trash) around the property once the can’t pay their rent.

I have been storing at this self storage location on and off for the last 3 – 4 years. Any the new manager is awesome and super friendly. Not only do they watch who comes and goes but they lock up the building at night so no one can mess with your unit. If you refer some one they will give you half off your next months rent too… Conveniently located on 21 st and R st this building was originally used for wine storage way back in the day.

Hands down the best staff I’ve had the pleasure of working with in years. Very professional when needed but also held a personal relationship with what seemed to be most of their customers. Made any time spent there more out a pleasure instead of a chore.

The fact that all the units in this facility are indoors pretty much had me sold on this location. I also like that it’s in midtown, very close to where I work and easy to access if I need to pick up/​drop off anything, which I regularly do. The facility has camera surveillance and all floors (5 stories) are checked regularly throughout the day.
I was treated like a valued customer from my first phone inquiry about renting a unit. The employees have a friendly and easy nature and get along with customers and each other and have always been helpful, making ladders and tools available when I needed them (and forgot to bring my own.)
They have loading docks, carts and an industrial-​sized freight elevator. All hallways are lit but you may want to bring a lantern or flashlight if you’ll be inside your unit. Boxes and packing materials are available to purchase not just for storage but for shipping packages or organizing at home.
They’re also a drop-​off location for e-​waste and collect shoes for the charity Soles for Souls.
And for local history buffs, this building was originally Capital Van and Storage then the Bekin’s moving company’s building, has always been a storage facility and has been standing for over 100 years.

I honestly didn’t know what to think. Some reviews were good some weren’t. I called spoke with Monroe and he was kick donkey! He was able to honestly address all my concerns and explain. The price was acceptable and I was satisfied with the service. The only thing I had a problem with (which it’s me & my irrational fear) was the elevator!!!

These guys are the best. The place is clean, secure, and priced extremely fair. I was able to store my stuff there for three months at a fraction of the cost of what I was being quoted at other places. The freight elevator and dollies make it extremely easy to load and unload. Also, if you need moving supplies (I.e boxes, tape, etc.) or moving trucks you can get it all here

I have been renting a unit from storagePRO for a year now. My experience with them has been amazing. They are very customer service orientated. They always find a way to work with you and tailor to all of your needs. The price is very affordable and the location is conveniently in mid-​town. I couldn’t ask for any more.

StoragePro made my first storage experience amazing. The staff is so helpful and transparent on everything. I feel very safe keeping my things there. They are the perfect location and I recommend them to anyone looking for a storage unit.

The staff is SUPER friendly here. The facilities are indoor with a large freight elevator to move one’s belongings– and can hold a lot. There are big rolling carts to move your things from the ample parking lot to your storage space on one of 5 floors. The building is centrally located downtown with accessible parking. Conveniently located is also a facility to drop off old computers, tv’s, etc for recycling next door. The hours are typical business hours, so one has to accommodate for that. For me, the storage location is great since it is in my neighborhood!

I rented a storage unit from 21^st & R for three months. They seem to have the best prices in town and it’s nice that the units are all indoor. My unit was very clean and the place looked well maintained. However, I am giving them 5 stars for their staff. Extremely nice, professional, and helpful young men who just seem to be naturally happy and pleasant.
My only wish is if the hours could be longer, especially on the weekend. Also, if you get assigned a unit on the top floor (based on availability), it can take extra time getting stuff in and out. Unfortunately, my unit was on the top (5^th) floor and it takes a full minute to get there on the freight elevator (the kind you have to manually lift and lower the gates, then press & hold the up/​down button). It’s a great workout lifting the gates though! :)
The place can get quite cold (or hot, depending on the season). If you are renting in the winter, bring gloves and a jacket.
Anyhow, for the friendly staff, excellent prices, and clean facility, I would definitely recommend 21^st & R Storage!

Updating the stars. These people are awesome. I forgot to pay this month, and instead of letting me incur late fees or worse, they called to remind me and took my payment info over the phone. Great customer service! On top of all the other good stuff.

You won’t find friendlier, happier workers than the employees at 21^st and R Self Storage. It doesn’t make sense, but for some reason the nicest people in Sacramento work here. And there’s free coffee and cookies, too! Yum! Hats off to Henry and Andy for great customer service with a smile!
As for the place itself, the units are clean with easy loading. I do wish their prices were a little bit more competitive, but perhaps you pay a little more for this convenient Midtown location.
Look for discount coupons online at their site before reserving. It will save you some cash-​ola.

I adore my storage facility! The staff, the history, the clean bathroom all just icing on the cake. My possessions are clean dry and safe here. The little details like carts to shlep my stuff and a sexy elevator to ride in to my unit are the mint on my pillow.
After sketchy storage experiences at other places I have to recommend 21^st & R storage as a 5 star facility!

Great customer service at a storage place? Huh? Why?
But really, it is that good. Super nice guy when I checked in the first time, and very, very helpful people when I’ve been back.
We keep our small motorhome back there and have never had one problem with anything.
Owners need to watch out… If I owned another biz and was looking to hire, I’d poach his staff in a heartbeat!
Highly recommended.

UPDATE: The fact that these folks are denying this incident is classic. I am not sure how they could have investigated this event when they don’t have my actual name. Are they denying that any thefts happened in 2006? What exactly do their records show with regard to burglary? And how about the policy on storage locks and insurance? I know where my family and I stored our cherished things and I know where they were stolen from. Denying any knowledge of the incident is one thing but saying I made a mistake about where it happened is fraud. I originally posted this Unilocal review to warn other people to take precautions with this company and their followup only underscores this… WATCH OUT!

Bill and Eric (?) are great, very friendly and helpful. However, I had to deal with a particular employee on a Sunday afternoon who drastically changed my opinion.
I requested to modify a detail of my lease and asked a question about a peculiarity in their policy/​process. When I tried to discuss her response she turned on me and was belittling and gave threats.
After posting, I spoke with Bill. He reassured me that she was NOT following their policy and has since left for reasons not related to our encounter. I really appreciated him following up with me and feel confident that all the current employees I know are great.

Just moved into this facility, renting a small space. Shopped around and found it to the be the best bargain for the money. Like that its located downtown and easy to get to regardless of where I’m at.
The old elevator is a little slow but other than that I like this place so far.

Considerate and economic storage.
A couple of my buddies in similar divorce situations found great service and a mid-​stop until more permanent residency situations were able to materialize.

Really friendly staff! This place reminds me of the definition of Sacramento — friendly, competent, contented people. After going through the absolute Hades that is U-​Haul, 21^st & R shone like a heavenly beacon. You can rent Budget trucks or store items. Love the elevator. I think it’s bigger than some of my previous apartments!
Surprised to hear the family heirloom review, I suspect it’s fake. Not only were the family heirlooms stolen, her wedding dress and all things of value were in there!
I’ve talked to other renters when I’m there, no one’s ever had an issue. The locks are secure & I trust the unit. There’s a sign in sheet, and every time I’ve been, the management’s on the ball.
