This has become the first stop my (now) husband and I make when we need jewelry as a gift — or for ourselves. We got engaged last year and went to Brendan for our engagement ring — we heard of him from someone we didn’t know that well at a party, but we wanted to keep our ring shopping local. We designed our engagement ring with his help (we didn’t know what we were doing) and we absolutely love what we have. Since then, we’ve bought several pieces for other events, plus our wedding bands and wedding party gifts with Elements.
The service, the quality, and the overall operation is just fantastic. Brendan listens to what his customers want, but it’s more than that, too — he pays attention to other details so if you aren’t sure of what you want (like I do, sometimes), he has a pretty good idea of where to start looking. He’s a great businessman, and an even better artist.
You won’t be sorry or disappointed by coming here, be sure of that.

Hours of operation are either wrong or they were seriously late to work. Walked up and door was locked when Unilocal and their door said they should be open. Don’t trust you to make my engagement ring when you can’t be trusted to open your establishment when the hours say you are suppose to be open.

Great place for custom work. I bought my fiancée’s engagement ring here. The prices and work was great. Brendan was super helpful and did a great job creating the ring I wanted as well as staying within my price range. I didn’t have a time line to have it done and started the process in November which I assume is a busy time for them and it took about 5 weeks for the whole process, so plan ahead. I’m sure they can/​will do things faster but quality takes time and if you want some crappy rush job then go to a chain place. The ring turned out perfect and we will be going back to get our wedding rings there.

The customer service we received at Elements Custom Jewelry Studio was outstanding!!! Brendan was very professional and extremely helpful. He created one of a kind wedding band for our wedding and we couldn’t be happier with the quality/​design. Brendan was able to meet our deadline even though we came to him few weeks prior to our wedding date. The sizing on both wedding bands is perfect, few months later and they’re still very comfortable. In December my wonderful Fiancée proposed and I now have the most beautiful and unique engagement ring I have ever seen. John worked with Brendan to design it, and it is stunning from every angle! I love all of the tiny details that make it so special, and the fact that my guy designed it for me makes me melt every time It catches my eye. From the side the setting looks like a little crown with diamonds at the base of each prong– they are just for me to see, rarely noticed by the many people that comment on my ring. That’s the kind of detail I adore– not for show, but just to make it a little more special. Thanks Baby and thanks Brendan-​you guys made the perfect ring.

Elements Custom Jewelry Studio is a small jewelry store that offers you the opportunity to design your own jewelry design or the the opportunity to purchase and edit pre-​designed jewelry displayed and worked on location with a focus on custom jewelry.
Brendan, the owner and primary jeweler, is a trustworthy person and Jeweler, will patiently work with you to design (if needed) and create jewelry to your personal liking.
I would recommend patience with Brendan as this is not the «fast-​food» of jewelry. They are custom jewelry and potential future family air-​looms being created.
Brendan offers you the opportunity to hang-​out in his work shop and participate in the design and construction of your piece. This makes the journey of creating your jewelry that much more significant.
I have designed 4 pieces of jewelry with Element Jewelers crafting my vision while maintaining the passion throughout the execution, to the finished product (s).

Brendan did an amazing job on our engagement and wedding rings. I visited several jewelers with a custom design while deciding who would make my wife’s engagement ring. I am so glad I went with Brendan. Other jewelers either didn’t understand what I wanted to do or just tried to push their own ideas, but Brendan took the time to understand exactly what my vision was for the rings. He was able to take my pictures and ideas and create a beautiful wedding ring set. My wife gets constant compliments about how unique and beautiful her engagement ring is. We went through several ring re-​sizings until we got the fit just right — free of charge. Brendan is a talented artist, and I highly recommend him for any custom work.

I have done business with Brendan and Elements for approximately twenty years. I can’t remember how many pieces of fine jewelry he has designed for my wife, but I bet she would know! We keep coming back because Brendan is an excellent jewelry designer and artisan. My wife has never been disappointed. Both my daughter had their wedding rings designed and made by Brendan.
I guess the best recommendation I can give is I keep coming back and I really don’t shop for unique, fine jewelry anywhere els.

We went into elements because we live next door (in that cute little house) and needed to get a cross for my girlfriends father for christmas, as he had given his away to his mother when she became ill.
As we were going through catalogs I heard a strange sort of whirring sound. I peeked around the corner, and there was a CNC machine working its magic. I asked the guy (Brenden, he is awesome) if it was okay if I came back there, he said of course.
When I asked what they were doing he said «we make custom jewelry.» I was blown away. I came back later that day and talked with them about getting a custom job done for my girlfriend for christmas.
Even though it was a week before christmas and the place was a madhouse everytime I went in there Brenden was able to draw up a version of my girlfriend’s logo (she is a photographer) and show me the scale, and get it made to my budget in just a few days.
As if that wasn’t cool enough — I had to keep coming in with my girlfriend to finish the business with my girlfriend’s father’s cross. The whole team did a fantastic job keeping the necklace a secret from my girlfriend, pretending that they hadn’t seen me in between visits with her.
I have never priced custom jewelry so i dont know if I got a good deal, but I can say that compared to my expectations based on price, and how excited my girlfriends face was when she unwrapped her one of a kind necklace, it was very much worth it.
My one complaint would be that they don’t have a website — but I’m biased, since thats what I do.

Elements is one of the last standing real jewelry shops in Detroit. Brendan is a master craftsman and prides himself in all his pieces. The stuff in the showcases is custom, but his handwork is on another level. I highly recommend him!

I’m actually still really surprised by all the 5 star reviews for this guy.
A friend recommended Brendan at Elements for custom engagement ring designs. When I first walked into the store, I was very impressed with the jewelry on display. It’s one of the few stores I’ve been in that have tastefully sized diamonds — not the gaudy overpriced stuff you see at Tiffany. Very modest and classy.
However, I found Brendan to be a pretty flaky business person! He came up with some great designs for my ring BUT he did dodge my calls and emails for a good 2 week period citing personal life issues. That’s fine, but don’t let your business go down the toilet because of it — hire a secretary! Do something, don’t ignore me! I’m dropping several thousand dollars with you, dude!
The thing that stuck out the most with the experience is that I am pretty petite. So we had picked out a diamond that was .59 carats and a perfect oval.
When we go to pick up the final piece, I’m looking at it on my hand and I said, «Wow. The diamond looks HUGE on my finger.» But what do I know, I’m just an artist who pays impeccable attention to detail!
Brendan even says, «Ya I really had to pound that diamond into the setting.» He hands us the certificate, and sure enough, it wasn’t the diamond we had picked out. It was a .70 carat oval, that appeared
more round than oval!
If I weren’t such an honest person, this guy would have been out almost $ 600 – 800! So the ring had to be REDONE! The second setting ending up being a bit big for my finger, where as the mistake one had fit my finger perfectly. To add insult to injury, when I brought the right ring back to have it «cleaned,» he gave it back to me still dirty! I had to take it to AHEE’s in Grosse Pointe to have it cleaned and they made it SPARKLE again!
NOT worth the hassle and aggravation, especially for something as important as an engagement ring. Brendan’s flakiness really took the fun out of everything. Of course I don’t realize this until much much later, but the friend who recommended him also said he had issues with Brendan’s flakiness and felt bad for recommending him to me.
FLAKE!!!

My wedding ring was not purchased at Elements, but I always took it here for maintenance. Brendan and Brian always did excellent work at a reasonable price. I was hoping to own an original piece, but have since moved to Chicago and miss my go to guys. They are friendly, down to earth and produce quality work that is worth every penny.
If you’re in the market, you have to check this place out.

Elements is a small independent jewelery place in downtown Royal Oak. Brendan is the owner and has done a ton of work for my family and it is always flawless. His store is full of interesting things, but he specializes in custom work.
Like Dave H., my husband and I got our engagement/​wedding rings from him and love them. He works very hard for his customers, educating you about stones, giving his opinions, but always checking with you first. The work can take a long time, but it is top rate and beautiful.
Also, I don’t find him that expensive. If you took my wedding ring and went to a chain place, it would have been way more expensive. His work is gorgeous and unique, and you can’t go wrong!

Elements Custom Jewelry Studio is a little jewelry store that has some pre-​designed jewelry that is pretty cool (actually quite a bit for a custom shop), but its focus is on custom jewelry (hence the name).
Brandon is the artist that will work with you to design the jewelry and then makes it right there in the back room. My wife and I got our engagement/​wedding bands from him and we could not have been more pleased. He sat with us and helped us pick a style, then designed it on the computer before he made the wax mock up to make sure its what we wanted and he made the rings.
He is always super-​friendly and remembers us by name when we stop in almost 2 years later now. The only drawback being that it is CUSTOM jewelry, so expect it take a long time. I mean a very long time. It took about 3 months to get our rings after I first stopped in.
Also, its custom work, so you’ll pay for that. It actually was not as much as I expected, but it is VERY expensive. However, you get what you pay for… if you want a simple chain and pendent, go to the mall. If you want a custom piece that no one else will have and is designed specifically to match your taste, go see Brandon.
