Cheap, delicious, authentic Taiwanese in SoCal! My favorites here are the egg omelet and the salty rice roll. I like all the savory items but the sweet items are good as well. You really can’t go wrong with any item here because it really reminds me of Taiwan. If you want to avoid the wait, come early! If you order to go, go outside and they give you all your food through the window. The only downside is it’s not the cleanest. My stomach hurt later that night and I’m pretty sure it was from this. CASHONLY.

Food — 4 stars — very authentic Taiwanese breakfast and most of them are delicious. Environment — 2 stars — located in HK market, Rowland heights. It’s pretty small and dirty. Service — 1 star — no service. You don’t need to tip so you can’t really complain. Overall, it should be one of the better Asian breakfast spot in the 626 area.

This is my favorite traditional Taiwanese breakfast place that I go to. It is a hole in the wall place, with no fancy plating or setup, but it’s a taste of Asia that you can find here. I actually don’t know where else has better sticky rice roll and soy milk breakfast other than this place. * recommended — savory sticky rice roll, soy milk hot, and egg in chinese pancake(not the green onion pancake add egg, two different thing) My favourite type of Taiwanese or shanghaiese breakfast is the«fan tun», savory sticky rice wrapped over chinese donut and meat foss, and the freshly made soy milk(avaliable in sweet and savory), oh and not to miss their«Dan bing» egg pancake. Such a bad idea writing this in the middle of the night, it’s all making me hungry again. I love how their sticky rice roll is freshly made, with just the right amount of rice and the stuffing inside, while the chinese donut still stay crispy. And the soy milk is freshly made unsweetened and you can add sugar to adjust your sweetness. They have a lot other items that I would come and buy for Togo after having breakfast there. «Gua bao» — fatty pork belly slides with pickled vegetable, and sweet chopped peanut with sugar. It’s a sweet and savory bun, but super good even you steam it again the next day Sweet sesame rice ball(chinese dessert) freshly made in house. Love the rich sesame flavor. Come frozen. Almond milk drinks– as good as their soy, it rich in flavor and made fresh. Just felt like there is no preservatives added. Things to watch though, it’s that their mochi do get moldy easily without preservative and made in house. So make sure you watch what you eat and they will exchange for you. The only thing that is taking the one star off is really the seating area. The tables and chairs does not feel really clean, especially the condiments’ bottle surface. and because they get very busy, it’s always crowded with not a lot of seats and space. But other than that food is great. At least to me, it’s a taste of nostalgia.

This place is alright, the food is good, I love the xiao long bao here. Also, we had the Chinese tamales, soft and meaty. The soy milk is super fresh. Although the service from one of the ladies was super rude, the food was still good!

Been to Taiwan 3 times… this place is close to the true Taiwan flavors. Although I have yet to have a rou wan as good as the ones in Taiwan. Their rice rolls are pretty good, same with the pastries and soy milk. Gets pretty crazy busy and intimidating in the morning as this is more of a breakfast type of food, but they’re open all day. Does help if u speak Mandarin…

The radish cake is extremely salty. I like the garlic sauce though. The puns sesame bread is flavorful, but it’s is tough to chew. I like four seas in hacienda better.

I have been going to Yi Mei since I was little. It’s a go to for Taiwanese breakfast and Taiwanese dishes. I have always love loved this spot! I used to buy a bunch of their dishes and bring it back down to college. I have tried a bunch of their dishes: — sweet rice roll — salty rice roll — sweet and savory soy milk — gua bao — ba wan I love Taiwanese food!

This is THE go-to place whenever I’m craving traditional Taiwanese breakfast. If you with a group of friends, make sure to have one of them steak out a table because there is minimal seating and always a long time. FOODBREAKDOWN: Green Onion Pancake w/egg(蛋餅) — This will forever and always be my favorite thing to order! It’s like an Asian green onion pizza but with scrambled egg on top! Definitely pour a generous amount of their garlic soy sauce because the combination is soooo good. If you’re taking your order to-go, make sure to ask for the sauce! Chinese donut(You Tiao 油條) — I usually dip this with my salty soy milk to make the donut softer to consume. Rice roll(Fan Tuan 飯糰) — this is basically Taiwanese version of sushi. It’s a full of glutenous rice usually filled with shredded pork sung, pickled veggies, chinese donut, and sometimes egg. They do have vegetarian options for those that don’t eat meat! Salty Soy Milk(Xian Dou Jiang 鹹豆漿) — This can either be eaten warm by itself or as a soup. The soup comes with a bunch of tofu, chopped up fried donuts, green onion and pork sung in the soup! Sweet Soy Milk(Tian Dou Jiang 甜豆漿) — People usually get this drink cold and pair it with their meal SERVICE: The workers here speak little to NO English at all so just show a picture of what you want so you can minimize the confusion. FINALTHOUGHTS: This place is definitely one of the better Traditional Taiwanese breakfast/brunch place. Food is yummy and prices are cheap! This place ISCASH only buy there’s an ATM in the supermarket you can always go to.

I wanna visit Taiwan so bad T_T Yi Mei is the one place I’ve been to in the U.S. that serves breakfast even close to any place in TW. Great variety of food and drink. There’s not much service here and the place is not very clean so I’d much rather get my food togo than dine in. Also if you don’t speak Chinese your life will be a lil easier if you bring your Chinese speaking friend.

LOVETHISPLACE. Best Taiwanese breakfast in the area, FORSURE. You get the full Taiwanese experience here — cash only, sharing tables with complete strangers, cheap and good food, bad english, somewhat rude servers, but quick and efficient service! If you can’t read or speak mandarin, you’ll kinda of be thrown in a loop, or you can just believe me that these items are good, show the cashier your phone, and hope for the best. Please don’t take any of these translated English names literally, it doesn’t sound appetizing, but that’s what the translations end up being. Savory Rice Roll + Pickled Mustard(鹹飯糰+酸菜) — It’s a Chinese doughnut which is basically a long piece of dough that’s been fried(more similar to a churro without the cinnamon sugar than a doughnut), that’s covered in pork sung and picked mustard and rice wrapped all around it. SOGOOD. It doesn’t come with the pickled mustard, but I always pay the 50 cents for it because I love it. Green Onion Pancake w/Egg(蛋餅) — If you’re eating at the restaurant, get some of that garlic soy sauce in the container and pour it all over! It’s doughy and more like pizza crust than a pancake, and they cover it with egg and pan fry it. Rice Juice(米漿) — It’s like a peanut drink(comes either hot or cold) that you have with breakfast. It’s sweet and I usually get it hot. It comes in a bowl if you get it in the restaurant and you drink it like soup! Beef Sandwich + Pickled Mustard(牛肉燒餅+酸菜) — It’s a rectangular biscuit-like breading, but it’s way thinner than an actual biscuit that has white sesame seeds all over it! There’s thinly sliced beef in there along with some sauce, cilantro, green onions, and I always get pickled mustard added. It’s a Taiwanese breakfast sandwich! They offer way more things and they’re all really good, but those are what I always get because they’re my favorites. Other things to get are: Chinese Donut + Biscuit(燒餅油條), my mom lives for this stuff, but I’m not a huge fan, Savory Soybean Milk(鹹豆漿) you can dip the Chinese donut in this — adds lots of flavor, Pork Belly Bun(刈包) there’s a thick slice of pork belly between a Chinese bun with peanut powder and cilantro, Radish Cakes(蘿蔔糕) are good too, but they aren’t special here, but if you want to try it, might as well!

Why are some Asians so critical about this place. Like if it’s 4 stars it’s an «Asian F»? I like it. The cashier we got spoke english but my mom ordered for us as it was faster in Chinese. For some their mochi is too sweet but that’s how I like it. Japanese style. Love the black sesame ones. Price is right. Calling them Chinese Tamales isn’t right. Bring your bank roll fools! Cash Rules Everthing Around Chinese Restaurants. CREACR get the money! Dolla Dolla Bills Y’all!

This is one of my favorite Taiwanese breakfast spot. Everything is super authentic and delicious. I would give it a 5 stars if it wasn’t for the horrible service here. Everyone is super rude and fast paced, and the seating area is super small and cramped so you have to share tables with other people. The food is pretty delicious, couple things you must get in my opinion is their egg omelet, their radish cake with an egg on top, and their baked sandwich with Chinese donut. You can’t go wrong with these.

The place to go for a Chinese breakfast! My Chinese and pinyin are horrendous, but here’s what to order! Chinese donut(You-tiao which is literally«grease stick»)… Put hot sauce and soy sauce on it and wrap a Sesame Pastry(Sao-bin)around it. Soymilk drink/soup(Dou-Jiang), either sweet(tian) or savory(xian). I like the salty, savory one because I dip my Chinese donut in the soup. Radish Pastry(Luo-bo Si-bin). Also, to take home and steam, get some bamboo wrapped rice(zhong-zi). I can’t this in DC so it’s a ritual stop in SoCal for me.

I really love getting breakfast here. I love the little beef tamale dish with little pickled radish inside as well as the long pastry that you can dip in the soy bean soup! There is almost always a line and barely any seating but seats empty out quickly and food is served quickly. It’s always bustling with energy and everyone seems like they are on the go. And here I am savoring every little bite of the beef tamale. *i will update this once I find out the name of this beef tamale dish that is so amazing.

This little small deli called Yi Mei looks like it has been here for decades and still even though it might look a little bit old or outdated with the times people still arrive here without and doubt to order some of the delicious things that they offer on the menu. Even though I lived in Rowland Heights when I was little I’m not really sure if my parents had brought me here before but I did recently come here a few days ago for a nice lunch meal. They are open at 7:00AM but we arrived here probably around 11:30AM. It’s a small store so sharing tables with another group of people just seems pretty normal and a daily occurrence here. First thing you got to do is look at the menu items and then order your food at the cashier. Once that happens some lady will bring it to you at where you are seated. Between two people we ordered: 1. Soy milk hot with no sugar and a soy milk cold with sugar. I love drinking soy milk it is one of the things that reminds me of Asia a lot and to get it in a bowl also really reminds me of Asia. 2. The long Chinese donut which you can dip into your soy milk if you prefer and this is what most people would do. Tasty and gigantic! 3. Radish cake with an egg on top of it! One of my favorite items in the whole world and I truly don’t think I would get sick of eating this everyday all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner! 4. Green onion pancake with egg is a pretty popular item here and it’s good when you mix the table side garlic sauce with it. The flavor is just right and you feel like your eating something purely amazing. I would hope this place will stay here for as long as it can so many others can check this spot out. Even at the time that we went there were plenty of people and it was busy so I truly have high hopes that it will last for a little bit longer. Can’t wait to go back here again. Just writing this review makes me want to take a drive to Rowland and enjoy a nice cheap meal that is full of flavor and taste good!

Typical Taiwanese breakfast spot. Knowing mandarin helps 95% in ordering. Good thing my mom speaks the language. This is usually me and my moms goto food. More expensive than other places that serve hot soy milk and soup dumplings. Don’t expect good quality in their soup dumplings, they’re coming from frozen product so the soup leaked by the time you eat it. The soy milk is fresh though. Also known for Chinese donuts, tea eggs, radish cake, etc. To me this is light and comforting, so I would most likely come back just to get hot soy milk. However if you’re looking for quality and top notch service, its not here. Asian establishment.

This is my first time trying Taiwanese breakfast and this place was pretty authentic as my Taiwanese bf claims. This place is super small, cash only, and they call your order in Chinese so if you only speak English make sure you keep an eye out for your order! I really enjoyed the Dan bing(egg pancake roll), tsong yo bing jia Dan(green onion pancake with egg) Be warned, don’t eat too much here or you will clog your artery. This place also serves breakfast all day! Huge plus! The only sucky thing is that they raised all their prices by about one whole dollar the past few months. :(and there were still lines!

This is one of those busy, dingy hole-in-the walls that would be best to bring your Mandarin-speaking friend. It also doesn’t look very clean and you will have to share a table with another party. So be prepared because there is no English menu whatsoever. Order quickly or else they will be impatient with you. They make good soybean milk. No residue whatsoever. Loved the egg pancake. Had a you tiao too aka a chinese donut. They all taste the same so not much to be said there. Beef sandwich(shao bing) + pickled veggie was also tasty. Will come back if I am ever in the area.
