I’m pretty sure this place is closed. I searched and searched for it and couldn’t find it and called and the number is disconnected: T

Had a hard time finding this place. I think it’s the same as kingchops on gale so look it up on Unilocal if you’re having a hard time finding the restaurant on maps.

Chicken rice, pork chop rice and tofu are all really good. I like their pickled cucumbers. Service is hit or miss, depending on what your luck of the draw is that day.

They have the best pork chops in all of Rowland Heights. It is as if you are in Taiwan again. Also very cost effective as well. This is a great place for a quick meal that is delicious and simple.

Best pork chop in the area. I go to this restaurant a few times a month, but recent visits I found the taste of the food is different, less flavor. Before was very consistent. I still like their food, hopefully they will bring back their proud standard soon.

I’m really surprised this place only has a 3 star average… because it is the best pork chop I’ve ever had in the states. Sure, the ambiance, décor, and service isn’t quite up there… but most legit asian restaurants are like that. I come here expecting good food, and that’s what I get — order, eat, and pay… no frills or fuss. It’s pretty telling how good a restaurant is if it lacks all that, is only open for a few hours during lunch, has the most plain, non-descript store front ever ANDSTILL be busy. Order the pork chop rice or noodle soup here. It’s perfectly crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and packs a blend of flavorful seasoning. I can’t wait to come back next time!

Probably one of the best Taiwanese pork chop rice in LA. Often times, it’s the simple and modest food that differentiate excellence from mediocrity, such is the case for pork chop rice à la Taiwan. At the heart of it, it’s just deep fried pork over a bed of rice but Golden Garden(Jin Yuan) just gets it right. The flavor is simple — the pork chop is juicy, thick, delightfully fried and seasoned with black pepper. What more do you need to enjoy a piece of fried pork? How about some cucumber and pickled radish to balance out the fried meat? A braised egg to add more pow?! How about some short grain rice(instead of Jasmine rice), as they serve it back Taiwan? I can’t stress enough on the simplicity yet satisfaction that pork chop rice provides. Some may dismiss this as a Taiwanese thing but who can resist fried pork? Not me. Their version of the Taiwanese classic has a thin batter and is not braised. It’s really based on personal preference of crunchy texture versus extra flavor gained from braising. I say either method yields excellent pork chops and certainly so here at Taipei Golden Garden. I recommend going with the classic pork chop rice but the noodle is good too. The side dishes aren’t as memorable and I wish the bamboo shoots came with pork chop, instead of as a side order. The price may seem high for such a humble dish and the premiums may be attributed to the eatery’s name and association to the original restaurant in Taipei. Nevertheless, the pork chop this good is hard to find this side of the Pacific so I say«Just take my money and feed me!».

Okay so this is my favorite taiwanese pork chop/chicken leg place. A little history… Apparently the owners are 2nd generation as the owners’ parents opened up the first store back in Taiwan some 30 odd years ago and it was very very popular. They are known for putting their pork chop in worcestershire sauce with pickles on the side. It is very homestyle, meaning it’s very mom and pop, not alot of fat, oil or msg. They have a very simple menu which I appreciate, ala in and out burger. You basically get either pork chop or chicken leg, with rice or noodles. I prefer the rice as they give you side dishes to go along with it, and the sides have been slightly different every time I go. Also, the rice to me is more filling than the noodles. The noodles are little on the blander side but still decent. The only downside is that I eat alot, and I find it doesn’t get me completely full, only about 85%. For most people it should do the job. Again, I definitely recommend this place. It is one of my staple chinese eateries and makes my rotation at least once a month.

They used to have better review so I went with my boyfriend one time. After our order we heard the server opened the microwave. «NOWAY???»(is she gonna cook our food by using it???) and guess what YESWAY as the microwave started beeping. 30 seconds later our food were severed. It was. hmm so-so. You don’t feel anything is delicious when you know it was prepared like that. Even McDonalds does not let me see them microwave the food. This restaurant definitely is not a place I will go again.

If you’re in the mood for Taiwanese styled pork chops or chick leg rice, this place does an excellent job. It’s a little place. It’s «home-styled»… serve yourself if you want hot tea or water. There are not too many choices on the menu. But I would recommend only ordering what they do best(pork chops and chicken leg). The other stuff on the menu is just average, not worth looking for parking over.

I come here every now and then for their juicy pork chop. Not that many dishes you can choose from though…

Best pork chop rice I’ve had in the United States of America. This place does not deserve 3 stars. I don’t know why people rate it so low. I’m an authentic American Born Taiwanese. Pork chop rice, Pai gu fan, is my go to item at pretty much any Taiwanese restaurant I go to, so I’m well qualified to make judgment. First of all, I’m only speaking of the pork chop rice, that’s what you need to order. Afterall, the restaurant translate to Golden Garden Pork Chop in English. Now onto the review! This place has amazing pork chop rice. Their pork chops are more fried than many other Taiwanese restaurants that serve pork chop over rice. I’m not a big fan of the railroad pork chops where they are a little watery and soggy. I prefer the ones that are on the fried side, this is why Taipei Golden Garden Pork Chop Noodle & Rice is the best restaurant for Pork Chop over Rice! They definitely have the best pork chop rice I’ve ever had in the States. I’ve tried so many in America. Why thirsty, plaza deli, simbala, yummy house, supreme dragon, 101 Taiwanese restaurant and many others. Just none of them can compare. If you can suggest something better, by all means, tell me! Cause I’ll definitely try it out when I’m in town. Just order it! Pork chop with rice! Best in town :). You won’t regret it.

I love this place! This is probably my new go-to pork chop rice spot. I love supreme dragon’s pork chop rice but this one comes with so much more! My gf found this place and raved about it so we went here after getting our hair did. The place is pretty small and there’s only two ppl serving. I think one is the owner. She’s really nice and keeps it real with what to order. We were going to get the boiled veggies but she suggested the steamed bamboo shoots instead. It was delish! We both got the pork chop rice and cold cucumber. They first brought out the rice and sides. The sides were sauteed chinese broccoli, sauteed firm tofu and half a marinated egg. The variety was great and they all tasted really good. They then brought out the pork chop which was huge! It wasn’t too fried and still tasted somewhat healthy. There wasn’t too much breading on it which I loved and it was super juicy. $ 7 bucks for all that food! This is definitely Taiwanese comfort food. I will definitely come back… I miss it already.

The pork chop and fried chicken here are absolutely the most awesome things I’ve ever tasted. They’ve perfected the recipes for frying the things. The rice that comes with it as well as the other sides are just okay. You don’t come here for those things — you come here for the pork chops. Do note that when it gets busy, the folks here utterly break down in terms of service and efficiency, and so look to get here early when things aren’t busy otherwise, you’ll have to be patient to get your order or get seated in a timely manner…

SMALL hole in the wall Taiwanese restaurant w/an even SMALLER menu!(used to be in Diamond Plaza, but now it’s in the Smart N’ Final plaza) there’s basically 4 main things people get on the menu… fried pork chop w/rice, fried pork chop w/noodles, chicken leg w/rice OR chicken leg w/noodles(all for a pricey-when-it-comes-to-taiwanese-food $ 7.30) We all got the PORKCHOP, since the name of the restaurant says it all, but i’ve definitely had better… its peppery & crispy… and that’s about it. noodles were nothing to rave about either SELFSERVE water & tea i’d SKIP this joint, but if you plan on eating here, GETINEARLY because there isn’t much seating!

I finally found this place, on January 1st to boot! The best first meal of the year. I am so thankful for asian restaurants that are open everyday of the year, regardless of holidays. This restaurant used to be in the Diamond Bar Plaza. across Fullerton Rd and above the Freeway. I thought the place had shut down! I was in total disbelief because this was way too delish to be doing badly! This is my faaavorite chicken leg NOODLE place. that I know of. I never get their rice. because their noodles are amazing. I used to be able to eat a whole bowl of noodles AND pork or chicken all by myself. My god, I’m disgusting. The key to the noodles. is to order it DRY. It’s good with soup, but try it dry. you’ll be amazed! The other little dishes are great to share with a group, too. Like the Preserved Duck Egg & Tofu, Broiled Vegetables. yummy. I just wish this place was open during dinner, too.

My mom makes pork chops at home, and she bases it off this restaurant, one she’s been going to since her youth. With the lines extending outside to this place, you would think there was some kind of magical concoction of pork chops were made in here. Let me tell you, it was just. ok. The taste was decent enough but not enough for me to frequent this place. Being Chinese, I’ve been to a fair share of not so great service areas, but this one is the cherry on top of poor service. 45 minutes for 3 bowls of pork chop noodle, and another ten minutes of wait for my pork chop rice. Really? Do I really need to wait that long for a place that is as small as my backyard and could maximum maybe hold 50~60 people? I could tell the other customers were getting impatient as well. The price isn’t even that cheap either. Before you pound me and think I’m critical, I’ve worked in the restaurant industry before and that was long enough for me to understand that your food shouldn’t take that long, especially something like frying pork chops. Maybe the food supply was backed up, maybe they didn’t prepare enough the day before, but this is just ridiculous. 2 stars because this place was my mom’s pork chop inspiration, and the taste wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great.

So the old Golden Garden in Diamond Plaza has finally got a new home… It’s in the same plaza as Smart and Finals, Starbucks… on Gale/Fullerton. It took them sometime to finally open(went there a few times but it wasn’t opened…). The place is small and PACKED with tables. It’s really difficult to move around since there’s no room. Like the old place, you have to get up and get your own water by the cash register… It’s very crowded… there was a line waiting outside at around 11:45am. Menu is limited like the old place… The price for the pork chop/chicken rice/noodles has increased from $ 5.50 to $ 7.30 now. Still very reasonable since it has veggies and soup that come with the meal. The chicken seem a lot smaller in portion than the old place… still good, but something’s different about it. Service can get really slow since it’s crowded and only 2 people were working there. Go early if you’re planning to go for lunch.
