The food was ok, that’s why I gave one star. I ordered a dish with rice, however when the dish came there was no rice with it. I told the bald and tall waiter about it, he was pissed at me and took away the plate hitting my chopsticks and other plates, no sorry, no help, just walked away. When he came back, he literally threw the plate on my table, that’s not even the worse part, i heard him talking to other employees in Cantonese and even cussed us out in it. Funny part, in the end they asked for tips. Never coming here again, disgusting attitude.

The food here are always good! I love their roasted duck and the wonton noodle. I get to-go order every time I come so I am not sure about their service. I just wish they take cards.

Their food is always fresh and delicious. BBQ duck is the best in the town. I have been going there for many years. I recommend it!

This place used to be good in the 90s under the name sam woo. It was the place to be for cantonese food especially the BBQ Decades later, i come back for the three delicacy(pork, duck and chicken) rice to-go and all i got in return was fatty meat with a ton of white rice… and i don’t even like white rice… or fatty meat. How do you expect me to eat all this fatty meat anyways? Beyond shady. Yes, i should have checked my order but i like to give people benefit of the doubt. Never again. Ever. Cash only. No gracias no bueno.

My family has been coming here for years. Here are our favorites… We always start with the egg drop soup. I always add the red chili that’s on the table. Fried pork chops and fried shrimp with spicy salt. Green beans with pork are delicious. Pan fried noodles with seafood. The pan fried noodles are so good and crunchy. We order a lot of salty dishes over sweet. If you need something, you have to call over a server because they won’t come check on you. Once you ask though, you’ll get it pretty quickly. Lunch prices are great though. For five people, we paid fifty dollars and brought home four large containers of food. I always come home in a food coma. Loooooove it

Excellent service first and foremost. Very helpful with the menu. Started off with a drink, decided on the coffee and tea which was unbelievable. For lunch I had the roasted duck lo mein. The duck was delicious, tender, juicy, definitely fresh. You can also order whole duck as their also displayed in the front of the restaurant to go. Which I plan on doing soon the next time I pass through. They also serve you rice and tea with your meal. Food is very authentic. Great experience.

I went here to buy fried green beans for Easter dinner instead of driving all the way to Sam Woos in Alhambra. Then came back yesterday with my wife to dine in. We ordered the dumpling soup, which came to the table super fast considering it was just broth, 6 dumplings and two stalks of a long broccoli stem. Also ordered some vegetables, Yeung Chow fried rice and half a Crispy deep fried chicken! Topped with colorful fried shrimp chips the kind I used to make when I kid. But they could have been drained of the oil better. It also came with a wedge of lemon and a small side dish of something that looked like MSG mixed with white pepper and salt? Didn’t use it as the Deep fried chicken was already pretty salty. Our total came to about $ 40. Not bad. Looking to come back and try something new! We tend to look around to see what other people order to see what popular and tasty! Service was quick. Portions were a good size. Get their early, place filled up quickly on a week day. Oh BTW my sister liked these fried green beans better then Sam Woo’s but they may be a little more $$.

Came here with the family and we ate as a family style. We ordered Salt and Pepper Squid, Mongolian Beef, Half Roast Duck, Sweet and Sour Pork, and BBQ Pork. And let me tell you, those food were all delicious! If you’ve never been here and don’t know what to order, ordering one of these won’t do you harm. My favorite dish of the night was the Salt and Pepper Squid, which were crunchy and had the green onion taste, which was delicious. As for the service, it wasn’t the best service we had. When we needed to refill rice or anything else, it took them a while to cater to us. We had to come up and walked up to them in order to get their attention, therefore this restaurant deserved a 3 stars.

Sad that this place doesn’t have more stars. but I guess I can see why. The service isn’t really on point cus honestly, it’s been the same guys working here for like twenty years and so they probably just don’t care anymore. Not that that’s a valid excuse, but I’ve been coming here every since I was really little so I’ve talked to them and I know they’re pretty good people. But anyways, on to the food, five stars for food! This is one of my favorite traditional Chinese food restaurants. I was thinking about which dishes to list as my favorites but I could go on forever because I have way too many. But if I really had to, some good ones are the deep fried whole sole, seafood tofu pot, beef stew, fish fillet with baby bokchoy. I don’t know if these are the actual names on the menu but I think I at least got it close enough. Their lunch special prices are really good and they don’t skimp you on the portions either. You’ll always find a line out the door on Chinese holidays waiting to get peking duck or the soy sauce chicken at all of their locations so that should say something. Basically, the food here is A1 so definitely check it out if you haven’t.

They are pretty bad as I have Cantonese foods all my life. We have the more expensive items – lobster, lamb in hot pot, bean spout and one other item off the lunch menu. The total was over $ 70. Their cooks were just simply not good. As I see so many of the other photos and see how bad the cooking are. Their manager or boss came out to meet me, but did not want to identify himself – a weasel. No second visit… I have been to a lot of other Sam Woo in both So Cal and Vegas. They are ok to good – just this place is bad.

love their roast duck so much flavor. I was craving for some crispy fried noodles over seafood, unfortunately it’s not on the menu. The waiter said they can make it for me. Yaaayyyy! but it’s short lived. the noodles were so soggy and lacking flavors. Hubby and I enjoyed their spicy stir fry eggplants, great saucy goodness. Next time I’ll just stick with the roast duck

This used to be a Sam Woo BBQ. The restaurant itself has not changed nor has the food they serve. We came by to get a few things to go late on a Saturday night and it was fairly empty. The food is typical of BBQ restaurants, the quality of what we bought was good. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

I been here before for lunch and to go. Tonight, I brought my dad here for dinner. We order 3 items and rice: Hot Pot-Chicken, Taro & Chinese Sausage, Black Mushrooms & vegetables and a Steamed Fish. It was great. All have distinct flavors and they were all nice. The place is small and many of their tables are set up for large groups. Just beware this is a CASH only business. The staff was very nice and accommodating and the place is clean.

Beware especially if you don’t speak Chinese. Ordered to-go and they let your food sit for 10 minutes because they are so disorganized. Even when there are two people waiting(no hoards)! I guess you have to nag them to keep checking every order they put up on the counter. And even then they tell you it’s not yours!!! Then come to find out it is yours ten f-ing minutes later! What dumbshites.

This is my stable for Cantonese food. Since there’s not many canton options around, this seems to be the place to go for some beef chow fun. I’ve come here on and off for over 10 years and they have made progress with their cleanliness and service. I remember the waiters use to be rude, but now they’re nice considering typical Asian service. You can always count on the food to be comfort food and the bill is not bad for the amount you get. Remember to bring cash, cash only!

This place used to be a solid 4 ½, but they are a 2 ½ now. The barbecue here is still pretty good, but the sit-down ordering dishes changed dramatically for the worse the past few years. Those dishes remind me of chop seui(American Chinese food) more than the classic canton home-style food. Some dishes were too sweet, and some dishes in an attempt to make more colorful, contained ingredients which changed the dish’s traditional flavor. I gave the sit down food three tries the past two years.. it was nononono for all 3. Their variety of fried rice and noodle used to be very flavorful, but now the taste is bland and the ingredients changed. If you like your fried rice made with dry chicken breast, you may like theirs now. Now I only order the barbecue and fried noodles. Not great, but they’re okay. I miss old Sam Woo.

They were very friendly to me and quite happy when they saw a white guy speak fluent Mandarin. I ordered the Lobster with noodles. I rated it 3 stars because they served average food. They are not a high end restaurant. Lobster arrived a bit on the hard and chewy side. I believe they deep fry the lobster meat which makes the meat hard and chewy. Other reviews state that the staff here are not too friendly and that the restaurant is not that clean but this is just the nature of the Cantonese people. Anyone who has been to Hong Kong and Guangzhou in China would know this. This is not a Japanese restaurant with Japanese staff from Kyoto lol. Price of $ 19.99 is considered average because Lobster is not cheap these days so I am fine with price. Came back to try their duck and chicken with rice. This was 1 star duck, rice and Chicken so I deducted 1 star from 3 stars to 2 stars.

Chinese food Food comes out super fast More like an asian restaurant in Asia. Fast pace, quality is good, big amount, servers are there but not all there. The chow fun and the wonton duck noodles soup is really good! When you first enter the place you’ll see duck, chicken and pork hanging. All that is good. It’s bbq and they can bring it to the table.

This restaurant is filthy… First«clean» plate settings were not clean. There was lipstick marks on the tea cup, food wasted that was not properly washed on the plate and the whole table was was just filthy. Definitely not clean. Food, my husband said the duck was pretty good. We also ordered seafood sizzling soup and beef chow fun. Chow fun noodles were pretty much all broken, I would definitely skip on this. Food was just mediocre. The service was poor, they need to be a little more attentive… they definitely need to raise up their standard on its clean factor.

A great place for authentic Chinese food. Everything tastes great and it’s relatively inexpensive. A big negative is the service. Me being bald and bigger than most Asians just automatically means that I’m a criminal according to the mean Chinese ladies in the front. THEYTALKSHITABOUTMEINCHINESE, THINKINGTHAT I DON’T UNDERSTANDBUT I DO. They’re not nice people but I still keep coming back because the food is so good. Some of my favorite dishes are the scrambled eggs with shrimp, beef chow fun, salt and pepper fried pork chops, plus lots of others I can’t think of right now. This place isn’t as good as Newport Tan Cang but it’s still great in its own way. You should give it a try if you can handle the awful service. Oh also, this place is cash only. Which is pretty damn stupid in my opinion.

My favorite dishes are the salt-pepper pork chops, bbq pork, and especially the shrimp in scrambled eggs! I don’t know what they put in the eggs to make it so creamy and melt-in-your-mouth! Simple and delish! This would probably be one of my last meals on Earth. My family also really liked the fish maw soup($ 12.50) The«just ok» dishes include the beef chow fun and yueng chow fried rice. Although most the take out portions are pretty fair/large, the fish maw soup seemed kind of small for the price. Cash only! The cashier lady at the front is not very inviting, but she is fast with the register.

I’ve been visiting this place for almost 15+ years. I was going here when it was first Sam Woo. The food is great, but the service is mediocre. I love Chinese food and this is one of the first places I’ve ever had it. My recommendations: Seafood Chow Mein(Crunchy Noodle), Spicey Squid w/Pepper, and Fried Rice. Tip: Bring Cash!

A nice little place in the Rowland Heights plaza right off the 60 freeway for some roast duck, chicken, and pork. It’s a Cantonese barbecue place that does it very well. You can either sit in or get the food to go. There’s a huge counter where you can see the roast meats hanging or under heat lamps. It can be jarring to see for some people, but I see deliciousness. It’s great for a weekend lunch. On a recent visit, we had some roast meats and garlic stir-fried veggies. Service is fast if a little brusque. There are a dozen or so tables and a few servers. They’ll get to you but don’t expect warm service.

— Locale Destination — Its’ on E Gale Ave and Nogales St in Rowland Heights. It’s in a big shopping center across from«99 ranch market» and«Class 302». It’s right by «Ten Ren»(Tea place). Ambiance: Family style. Casual, a little outdated, nothing fancy. Service: Not friendly. Little English. Minimal. Menu: From big family style dishes, appetizers, noodle to desserts. Portion: It looked like the portion was massive — every table I saw had several BIG plates. It made me wonder how much the people could eat… Bring your friends and family! Payment: Cash only. — Gluttony Expedition — BBQ chicken with soy sauce: It was less than luke warm, which I didn’t like. But the side ginger/green onion sauce was great on the chicken. Lots of bones, so be careful. Not bad. Congee with fish fillet: It’s served by the MASSIVE bowl. It’s good for 2 people. They put lots of fish. The porridge was bland. Without the soy sauce and ginger sauce, it had no flavor :(Sad. — Conqueror’s Deduction — I think the Sam Woo BBQ isn’t bad, but the quality standards didn’t seem to be high. But if you want the portion, you might like it. At this moment, anything but the ginger sauce wasn’t memorable to me.

its one of my favorite Chinese restraunts around. Inside is the Sam Woo BBQ, and its one of the reasons why I love coming here. They have great prices on lunch specials and the Roast anything is good here. especially their Roast Duck, Pork, and my fav, Roast Pork belly. The food here is Authentic, the waiters here work super fast, especially at lunch, which is good if you are on your lunch break. Be aware, around Chinese New year, the Sam Woo section get really packed, and the line get super long. I guess everyone is waiting for the Duck and other BBQ/Roast meat. Somebody tried to cut in front of the line, and there was almost a fight, a verbal fight went down with name calling and everything, but I heard one of the waiters told everyone to Shut up and all was calm. Dont get in between a Chinese person and their duck during The Chinese New Year, because it’ll get real, believe me. lol

Decent Chinese BBQ place. Me and the bf dropped by for dinner. Food came out fast. I had their roast pork and BBQ pork rice plate and the portion was extremely generous, although most of it is rice. The cuts were decent and flavor was there. It’s no Sam Woo, but it’s satisfying enough. Cash only.
