Our signature products are Chinese Bridal Cakes and Mooncakes, but the Bakery also provides 3-​times-​a-​day freshly baked breads and introduces the «Self-​Serve» modern bakery system where customers are welcomed to pick their choice of pastries. Throughout the year, the Bakery offers different kinds and sizes of fresh cream cakes for different occasions, such as Birthday, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Chinese New Year. Custom designs are also welcomed.

History

Established in 1985.

Established in 1985 Kee Wah was originally founded in Hong Kong in 1938 by Mr. Wong Yip Wing (1911 — 1999). The Company is well known in Hong Kong and overseas for its signature products — Chinese Bridal Cakes and Mooncakes — though a wide range of Chinese and Western delicacies is equally popular. In 1985, due to an increase in the number of immigrants and the request of our patronized Chinese communities in the United States, the Company decided to take a step further in marketing and opened up its first subsidiary in Southern California located in Monterey Park, Los Angeles known as Kee Wah Corporation aka Kee Wah Bakery. As supports continually provided by our loyal customers, we opened more branches.

I have seen Christina W’s review and pictures of Kee Wah Bakery and I know she has great taste so I bookmarked this place ever since. I would have came sooner, but the parking in this plaza is such a pain since it shares the same lot at Boiling Crab and Kang Ho Dong. I recommend avoiding peak lunch or dinner hours.
I knew I had to try their Crispy Egg Tart ($ 1.50/each). They have boxes you can put it in if you were taking it to go, but I was okay with their cute egg tart sized holder since I was going to eat it right away. The egg tart filing was warm and it just melted in my mouth. It was sweet without being overly sweet. The breading on the tart itself was soft, fluffy and buttery. The thin layers were a mess, but it was the most delicious mess ever. I will definitely be back for more.
The rest of the bakery was lackluster compared to the glorious crispy egg tarts. The bread didn’t seem fresh and the cakes were not the prettiest. I saw cute panda shaped cookies ($ 14.50/giftbox of 27) and penguin shaped cookies ($ 12.50/giftbox of 18), but I was put off by how many were broken in each giftbox. I didn’t want to overpay for broken cookies… but maybe next time when they have some well intact cookies.
I will be back soon for more delicious Crispy Egg Tarts! If I didn’t have immediate dinner plans coming up, I would have surely purchased all of the Crispy Egg Tarts they had left. *Nom Noms*

SLOW. There were two ladies at the counter, both helping to fill a large order. There were 4 other people waiting and neither one of those ladies offered to get people through the line. Inefficient, I say! After waiting about 7 minutes, I had enough and decided to leave. None of the 4 people behind that large order have even been rung up.

Slowest service ever… Writing this review as I’m still waiting in line to pay. One person working at the counter and she operates as fast as a turtle :(I understand that it’s cny, but how hard is it to have two people at the counter? Ugh.
Also tried all the breads/​pastries that we got… and it was MEH. I would much rather prefer 85 degrees.

My mom and I went to buy a cake for my sister’s birthday only to be completely ignored by all three workers, after multiple attempts to get their attention we decided to leave. Two of the workers were just in the back talking while another had her back to us pretending we weren’t there.

This is probably my favorite Asian Bakery by far. When I go here, I get almost everything and spend an average of $ 40 every time I’m here. They have too many items; you just want to buy the whole store sometimes. The cakes are good; the egg tarts are delicious as well as the mini pies! You have to try all of their pastries; it’s a hidden gem and I suggest everyone to try it!

I used to come to this bakery all the time but now I remember why I don’t come back. The bakery was small with narrow aisles and not much area to walk around. Everything in there was dated and it just didn’t feel very inviting. I came here to pick up some moon cake but they ran out of the moon cakes and also the good breads. The rest of the bread didn’t look appetizing and there was a long line. They were poorly understaffed and the cashier seemed overwhelmed. Not to mentioned The parking lot is always full. I can’t think of one reason to come back to this place and should remind myself to never come back here again.

Came here for the groupon deal. Better save your money. It was not the good. Nothing special. With so many bakeries now a day they need to step it up if they want to compete. Two stars just because there are so many better places out there

Came here to buy a birthday cake, they have a decent selection even pretty late int he day and the prices are pretty fair as well, also picked up a small bread pastry on the way out and it was pretty good. quick service and good quality baked goods, would come again

The bread here has a very Cantonese style, such as using ketchup and onions on the bread. We got the pineapple bread which was a bit dry but still good, the green onion bread which was very good, and the pork bun which was also good. Not a bad place for Chinese styled bread

I’m a taro lover, so obviously for my birthday, I decided to order an 8″ chocolate cake with taro filling ($ 33). To my surprise, it was delicious! They were every generous with their taro filling, two thick layers of creamy taro in between spongy moist chocolate cake. Perfect balance of sweetness, which was the perfect ending to the birthday celebration.

I have a love/​hate relationship with food. It stems from early childhood when I was my mom’s favorite child and she would over indulge me with pastries yet she would say I was fat afterwards.
Growing up my mom would buy tons of baked goodies from here and I had a ratatouille moment when I stumbled onto this location one night when I was going to Ten Ren next door.
One morning on my way to work I wanted a egg tart and stopped by this location. The store was just opening and they had just began stocking. I only saw one egg tart but it wasn’t the kind that I liked but I still tried it. I also picked up a coconut bread with buttercream for someone @ work. It was my childhood favorite but I try my best to avoid bread and such. The young man who bagged it for me handled it without much care. He gave it to me smooshed and since it was damaged I decided I shouldn’t give it to anyone. I gave in and ate it myself and it was the best version I had ever had. Love at every bite: p
I stopped by again today to pick up a box of individually wrapped panda cookies to save for my boys as a treat, two crispy egg tarts, and two Portuguese egg tarts for my boys. They love to eat the filling. The crispy egg were the BEST!!! I tried the original last week and it was okay.
I will come later next time when they are fully stocked. The ladies who work here are very nice and everything is very cheap. $ 1.10, $ 1.40 and $ 11.95 for a box of 27 adorable panda cookies. The receipt even has $ 3 off when you spend $ 20…

Kee Wah has outstanding, delicious egg tarts with delicate, light, and flaky crusts which come in three varieties (original, crispy, and Portuguese) which put the egg tarts at dim sum places to shame. They also have excellent savory puff pastries in the form of chicken pies and BBQ pork pies at the counter. I also picked up a variety of buns including green onion, custard, curry pork, pineapple custard, and taro swirl.
The bakery isn’t too big and wasn’t crowded when I went. There’s a 99 Ranch Market and crowded Boiling Crab restaurant in the same parking lot. The bakery receipt had a special Chinese New Year coupon offer for $ 3 off a $ 20+ purchase which expires at the end of the month. I’m definitely coming back!

Breads aren’t as fresh as other bakeries. It takes a while for items to be replenished, especially compared to places like 85 Degrees who constantly crank out fresh bread. They are a smaller establishment, so it’s understandable. Kee Wah not only has bread items available, but they also sell cakes, fruit tarts, cookies, moon cakes, egg tarts, and meat-​filled pastries. Prices are reasonable, and service is fast and efficient.
Food:
— Raisin Twist — The outside is crisp and flakey, while the inside is soft and sweet from the juice of the raisins. They are really generous with the raisins, and the raisins are twisted in the dough, so you get a little bit in every bite!
— Hot Dog Bun/​Mini Weiner Bun — Bread is very soft, but the hot dog inside is pretty small. Mini Weiner Bun comes as two pull-​apart Vienna Sausage buns.
— Ham and Cheese bun — Super greasy!
— Pork Song Bun — Not very much pork song on top. They slice the bun in half and spread mayo on the inside. I didn’t really enjoy this bun.
— Chicken Pie/​Curry Pork Pie — Chicken Pies have a flakey crust and shredded, flavored chicken on the inside. Curry Pork Pie also has the same crust but with chunks of fatty pork in a curry sauce.
— Egg Tarts — If you’re going to get anything here, GET THE EGG TARTS!!! They offer three different varieties: Crispy, Portuguese Style, and Original. These are always hot and delicious! My favorite is the Crispy Egg Tart with the flakey crust!

I bought all kinds of egg tarts here and I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed with their Portuguese style egg tarts.
They were burned on the bottom. So that annoyed me thoroughly enough.
Good thing I used a Groupon.
But what saved them is their day old sliced bread.
I forgot which one I bought but it was discounted and delicious.
Parking can be difficult, especially during the weekends.

The bakery isn’t all that big, it’s a small bakery that bakes your typical Chinese goods, from BBQ Pork Buns, to Egg Tarts, you name it, they’ve got it.
The egg tarts are pretty good here, and well the price is the price…
Now, if you check in on FOURSQUARE, they offer a special! Spend more than $ 10, you get a free Apple Tart!
My question is why don’t they offer a Unilocal Check in Offer!?? So sad… luckily my cousin uses Foursquare haha. They should offer a Unilocal check in offer too! Unilocal is more popular and better than that Foursquare they use…

I use to remember this bakery as a really nice spot. My parents would always take me here and we would get nice lovely breads to eat for breakfast. But this time noo I didn’t feel the same way. Maybe it was because I came here at night. I am not really sure why.
Rowland Heights is infamous for loads of Chinese foods, tea spots and bakeries. I feel like if you want something to eat that is Chinese you can drive on any street and find something that you can eat.
I came here almost when they were closing, parking was still not that great but it was alright. I at least found a spot and walked to the bakery I bought three different types of bread. l
One was a pork bun, second was a garlic bread and onion square thingie and the other was a taro bun. I thought all were pretty tiny than I remembered them being. The taste was a little bit sweet and way too oily looking for me now a days.
Service was just ok. The lady was talking on the phone and she didn’t get off for a few minutes and than decided to ring me up and not even say anything… Weird but ok I guess I expect it from an Asian place…
Mmm I don’t think I will be back honestly. But the price was pretty cheap… So I guess if you are on a budget and you don’t mind eating breads for breakfast lunch and dinner than you probably wouldn’t mind coming here.

Small little bakery located in the same plaza as Coconut Bay. There isn’t much variety, and a lot cream-​filled pastries are very oily, and some smell mayo-​based. It isn’t very appetizing, especially if I’m looking for a sweet custard-​filled pastry.
Also, this bakery is rarely busy. Hence, a lot of bread sits around. What I do like about this place is their egg tarts and pineapple buns. I can’t find pineapple buns at just ANY Chinese or Taiwanese bakery, which is a shame.
The staff is really nice and sometimes, they even sell pâté chaud at the front. They’re kept warm by a heat lamp, like most other places, so no complaint there. It’s just a forgettable bakery. I would rather go to 85c to get better, fresh bread…

This bakery is rather small, but I don’t know anywhere else that sells those delicious BBQ Pork Rolls ($ 1.80)! It’s what I get every time I’m here. I usually bring home at least 4 with me each time. It’s so good! I love flaky crust pastries.
A couple other of my favorite items include their egg tarts ($ 1.30) and Napoleon Cake ($ 1.80). There’s plenty of other popular Asian baked goods, too, including pineapple and pork sung buns.
The lady that works here is always super friendly. My family and I have been frequenting here for as long as I could remember, so she usually throws in a couple free goodies when we visit. Super friendly staff.

A bakery, in my opinion, should be at its best at peak hours.
I came in the evening around 7 P.M. it was super busy in this plaza and in this store. There were limited items on the shelf but there was no shortage of people walking and sqeezing and poking what was left. After being poked and squuezed all day, the items on the shelf looked terrible.
This place was packed. it’s just my opinion. Regardless of the time of day, if your doors are open during a peak period, your goods should be at their peak also.
