Tokyo Steak House and Sushi Bar

Pretty bad. Waited 5 min at the front counter face to face with Jessica waiting to be acknowledged. After being ignore for 5 min, me and my party of five left. No one even attempted to stop us. Disappointing.

Food is just okay. Nice service. Ate there due to convenient location. I would not go back.

I’ve been here twice with my kids — once for sushi, once for teppanyaki. Both times, the food was excellent and the staff was extremely attentive and friendly. We’ll definitely be repeat customers!

Went here 45 min before closing. (I know, im an asshole.) Needless to say service was speedier than usual, which was good, cause i was hangry. The hibachi master, Moses, was entertaining and witty as hell! He taught me that, yes indeed, food can love you back (pictured). I had the teriyaki chicken hibachi and that stuff was on point. My boyfriend had the trio and it was all delish. We ordered an extra side of rice each and had 2 whole other meals out of the left overs. It was a great dining experience.

Expensive and horrible. «Traditional» onion soup has bland flavor and what looks like those fried onions in it, like what you buy in a can at the grocery store. Chef was boring. We ordered the filet and a sirloin steak. He switched our steaks and then gave us another sirloin to try and correct his error. All the steaks were cooked very rare. My husband said they tasted «off». Gamey taste to me. If you pay $ 30 for SMALL filet, it should at least be edible and taste like steak. The hot sake is sub-​par. No cabbage in the vegetables. Fried rice over-​cooked. Not sure if the crunchiness was due to being over cooked or egg shells. I will stick to Kobe where we always have great food and service.

Went in for lunch. I think Tokyo Steakhouse has the best hibachi in town. I love their rib eye steak. The quality is consistent, and the staff and chef (Victor) were super friendly! My whole family loves their fried rice! For $ 13, we got soup, salad, fried rice, mixed veggies, and yummy rib eye! I was well fed, couldn’t finish the whole plate, so ended up packing up in a to-​go box! I will definitely return for lunch specials, my cravings and celebrations! Check out the cute salmon rose!

Went here for lunch on Saturday afternoon and had a great time. The food was outstanding and our chef was awesome. He put on such a great performance. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal and a good time.

I usually come here for lunch when I am craving some meat and veggies. I have not been here for dinner. I have sat at the grill and at a table (privacy). I say privacy since they do add multiple parties around the grill that you sit with. Makes sense to have enough people there to enjoy the show.
The service has always been good. The food has always been so tasty. As you know hibachi grills are not cheap so my lunch (just me) ends up being $ 15 – 20 depending on how many meats I get and what I order. I have to say that their meat is really good and their sauces for the meat are good. I love their Teppan Yaki and the veggies it comes with. So good.
The floor manager, Jessica, was so kind today. I ordered a to go Teppan Yaki and she offered me a water while I waited. I am sure you are not thinking much of her gesture, but I mention this since I have ordered to go items in the past and it’s pretty rare they offer me a drink, mint, small talk, smile, etc (you get what I mean).

Updated to a 3 roll because the waitress acknowledged that she didn’t check on us. I think the hostess told her something when we had to get her help.

I love this place. 2day I had a server I’ve never seen before we were her only table and we had 2 keep asking her over and over 4 things we asked her 4 lemon 4 times. Susan please be more attentive 2 your customers.

A bit disappointing. We called around 5:30pm on Sunday to ask what the wait for the grill was. We were told no wait at all, we arrive 10 min later. Our wait was forever… about 15 min in waiting area and then about 30 – 45 min at a table waiting for a chef.
The worst part though was that when we finally did get a chef he wasn’t very good. He wasn’t engaging, funny, or really that impressive; to me this is the big draw of a Japanese steakhouse. Even our 3 year old said he just wanted to home during the ‘show’. And the food was ok-​ish I’ve had much better at other hibachi places.
Price wise for three adults and a child your spending over $ 100. Not worth it in my book.
However on the plus side my husband and I had a sushi appetizer and that was really good.

This is as much for show as anything else. We went for a birthday dinner and I guess it is a popular birthday place as there were at least 4 others there on a weeknight with the birthday hats on. We walked in about 5:15pm and walked out by 6:45. I did not feel we waited for much of anything. I read in other reviews it was dirty, the chef was missing the servers were lazy, etc. I did not experience any of that. Our server was very attentive as soon as we arrived and another couple (birthday as well) joined our table as well, but with our appetizer order it worked out just fine.
We had chicken and shrimp with fried rice, the egg roll appetizer (free with my Unilocal check in!) and crab dip appetizer as well. Our server told us the crab dip was spicy, and she was correct. It was good, but hotter than I expected!
The food was good, not $ 25+ per plate good, but good. The show was the best part and the whole point of hibachi to me. Our chef was pretty good, he was funny and the kids loved it. For that it was worth it and a good birthday dinner with leftovers!

If you are new to Hibachi, then you will become a fan of it. If you are NOT new to Hibachi, then I’m pretty sure you will like this place. It’s not the best, nor is it the worst. Hibachi spots are slim-​pickings in the Austin area, so perhaps I would have given 3 Stars instead of 4. With that said, we had a good first experience to Tokyo Steakhouse & Sushi Bar.
Upon entering, we realized how big this place is. It has lots of space for large groups, yet smaller spots for an intimate dining experience as well. Upon being seated by the host, I «checked-​in» via my Unilocal app and noticed a coupon for a free vegetable egg roll. I showed it to the waitress, she smiled and a small wait later came out with a long rectangular dish of 2 large egg roles cut in halves. I am not a huge fan of egg rolls but I must say there were really good! They were fried perfectly and the insides were tasty. I figured we were in for a good experience. When the chef came out, he was Mexican and I immediately thought this can’t be good (Maybe it’s just me but I feel that it should be an Asian instead! It’s kinda like you going to an «authentic» Cuban spot and there are NO Latino’s working there LOL) However, ignorant me had to apologize to my silly-​self because he was an entertainer and did a solid job. The House salad was fresh, crisp and cold but they put way too much dressing. i mean like way too much, so much that it was drowned and un-​enjoyable. The onion soup was good though. For our entrees, we then ordered the «Steak and Shrimp» combo & the «Steak and Chicken» combo (with Fried Rice). The rice came out very good and the steak was good, but the chicken left something to be desired.
Overall, it was a good experience and I would visit again in the future.

This place has gone downhill.
It took 45 minutes after being seated for the cooking to even begin and we had a full table of people. The chef stopped by the bar on his way to our table and had a drink with his buddy. All the while, our cart full of ingredients just sat there.
The grill and table area was filthy and stunk. We asked them twice to clean it but it was still stomach turning. The fried rice was just white rice with egg. Isn’t it supposed to have veggies and/​or chicken in it?
To top it off, they got one of our orders wrong after we repeated it 3 times.
There are much better hibachi grills in town. We’ll stick to those instead.

$ 65 and 45 minutes I’ll never get back. My husband said we should have gone to Applebee’s which is as bad as it gets. The service was awful– it took about 10 minutes for someone to get our drink order. At first I thought the waitress was just overworked, but then we noticed she had a total of three tables.
The ambiance, when I had been here several years before, was sort of a classy date spot. It still looks like it, but the place was packed with ill behaved children. I’m not talking about loud– there was that, too, but three kids were running a RC car and chasing it between tables, and neither parents or management raised an eyebrow. I was also there with my kid, but there’s no way in hell I ever let her run around like that in a restaurant.
As for the food– when it arrived, my salmon was so over cooked it was white, the miso dressing on the salads was inedible (it tasted like it was almost pure red miso paste). The onion soup was good, but other than that the entire dinner was underwhelming. I also had to request items for my dinner that were on the menu as part of my dinner multiple times.
If your looking for a expensive place to take your kid for mediocre Japanese food, this is the place.

I know this place gets mixed reviews.
Like someone said here, price point is high, and I do agree with that. Generally, though, these Japanese Tappanyaki steak houses tend to be priced high, so I set my expectations accordingly.
Note that we’re also paying for the «showmanship» of it all by sittin’ around the iron griddle, seeing the grillmaster play with food, and watchin the flames shoot high. Not so sure that’s it’s even authentic, but nonetheless, these places are popular for parties, and they do get the crowd amp’d up.
I had the Shrimp Yakisoba, which is the grilled noodles with shrimp, at 17.95. Again, the price point was high, but I pretty much expected that.
I had them add some hot sauce that some other noodle dish had, so they accommodated me. Noodles were a good texture; shrimp was more like prawns, so they didn’t skimp on this; the dish also came with mixed veggies.
SO, food is good, and since you’re sittin’ round the hot grill — made fresh. And actually, there is something to be said about that, esp if you’re gettin a steak cooked with hot butter and oil.
We came here for a birthday gathering, so the grill master made a little show of everything from the food prep to the cooking, and was conducive to a larger group. I was pretty much pleased with how everything turned out.
They only get 3-​stars, though cuz it’s also pretty standard fare considering the type of restaurant it is — but great for parties.

We used a $ 5 coupon and enjoyed some good eats at this very reasonable facsimile of Bennihana’s. My wife and I shared an appetizer of crab Rangoon done right, an order of chicken fried rice and a Tokyo ribeye teppan yaki lunch special that came with onion soup, a salad, fried or steamed rice, grilled veggies and pieces of grilled ribeye cooked rightly and tastily medium… per specs… the service by Kara was spot on and very friendly, we sat a booth away from the show, but we could see it from where we sat… I come for the food which was good, we’ll be back said Arnie…

Tokyo Steakhouse. Not much has changed.
Exceptionally fantastic food quality and taste. And just a taaaaaaad more than I think you should charge. Just a tad. Really. I love this place tho. Never disappoints.

We recently had an early dinner here. The food was tasty. Shrimp dinner yummy. Ate it all. Teriyaki Chicken mostly good. Could have been more tender. I think it was over cooked. Godzilla steak (fillet) melt-​in-​your-​mouth fine! Ribeye or another steak dinner was pretty tasty. Took a to-​go box.
All had fried rice. Always yum. Both soups and salad very good. Veggies were just alright. Too many mushrooms. Broccoli, zucchini and onion were other veggies. Could have had more variety for $ 20 & $ 30 per plate. Godzilla dinner came with asparagus also. That was very tasty.
Entertainment superb!
Recommend this place, not highly but I would recommend. Be prepared to pay a lot. Our bill was $ 200 for 6.

Well Bust My Buttons!!!
The Foolish Boys and respective others appeared at Tokyo Steakhouse the other night for dinner. I think there were 8 of us but who’s counting.
Tonight the service was good and the chief very entertaining, the fires, the tossing of eggs and shrimp to the mouth at the end was as expected. If you have been to any of this style place you know what I mean.
The food was good tonight we are got a variation of steak or steak and shrimp or steak and lobster with various drinks and some even got some sushi. I’m not a sushi person so I didn’t eat any. We got steamed rice but others got the fried rice ($ 2 bucks extra). My cost for two without booze or beer was $ 100 including tip.
Over all we like our dinner and entertainment.
Note; A few of the foolish boys were so extincted about a Belly device at the entrance,
They both got free T Shirts, guess what I now have a Belly card, whooped de do! So I ask the question again does a chicken have lips?
Would I go back? Sure!

Been here many times with co-​workers for lunch, and it’s always a good time at the teppenyaki grill — though there are big differences on how amazing the entertainment is depending on your chef.
Today we had Mr. Boring. He said hello and then quietly and efficiently went about his business of cooking our food. No volcano, no flipping of eggs, no real showmanship.
My scallops seemed a little undercooked, but not so much so that I would send them back, and my steamed rice (I was the only one at the table without fried) didn’t arrive until after I finished my chicken and scallops, and only once I asked the waitress about it.
