Morelia Mexican Grill

Very dirty floor and restrooms. Not a clean place. Waited 30 minutes and hadn’t gotten our drinks yet. The place had five young kids standing around the hostess area, one decided to take initiative and seat us. Only ONE. Waiter seem to be working all the tables. We waiting about 15 minutes to get our drink order and he only came after I complained. Don’t blame him, he was busy. Bedroom all of our order, drinks and food, after 15 minutes more we still hadn’t gotten our drinks yet. We walked out and will never walk back in.

Food is good. But the service and ambiance at this location is horrible. We liked going to the one on 79 before it closed, and we go to the one on Parmer when in that area. But this one is close, so we come here. Been gradually getting worse since it opened. Disappointing!

Most crappiest customer service you walk in you have to let them finish their conversation before they even look at you
They sit you down with «fresh» chips there oh amd your food is going to take 46 minutes coming out they don’t warn you about that and when it does come out itll be cold your tortilla soup will be served with no tortilla chips and it will taste like beef stew not chicken

First of all, I’ve visited this restaurant in the past and have eaten at the one in Pflugerville. None of the previous visits went awry and I had a good experience.
However, on Mother’s Day that was a different story.
I realize it was Mother’s Day but that really can’t be an excuse in my book. They knew it was coming and were probably going to be busy so they should have planned for it.
Around 6pm my wife and I came in to grab some takeout food. We sat at the bar and ordered:
Large Queso
Grilled fish tacos
Pollo Famosa
Enchiladas Cremosas
We waited at the bar for well over an hour in a restaurant that was not even close to half full.
We got home in about 15 minutes after leaving and were extremely unhappy.
Here are the problems:
The charro beans were so undercooked and bland they were inedible.
The grilled fish tacos were basically a slab of fish with an avocado and no spice at all. I had to add pepper and salt as well as slather salsa on them just to get some flavor out of them.
We may as well have ordered cheese enchiladas instead of Cremosas because you guys seem to be extremely short on chicken when it came to making them. Also flavorless.
The Pollo Famosa was so greasy and the vegetables so soggy on top of a rubber chicken it was not finished.
I don’t usually write to the restaurant or call them after the fact choosing to just avoid ever going back but everything was just so wrong with our food and experience I felt I needed to get this in writing and actually sent this same message to the restaurant. I even gave them my name, phone number and email address. My reply was crickets.
If we’d have been sitting in the restaurant I would have sent the whole meal back and demanded to speak to the manager at once, then head over to Taco Cabana.
Look I understand it was Mother’s Day and maybe they were just having an off day or something. I don’t know.
Bottom line was we waited well over an hour in a half full restaurant and I tipped the bartender very well but we seriously WAY overpaid for the food/​garbage.
Hope they can fix whatever was going on but seriously doubt we’ll ever go back. There are just too many choices around here for good Mexican food and if they won’t even grace my comments to them with even an apology then they won’t get any more of my money. Probably not even go back to Pflugerville location either.

I prefer the Pflugerville location over this one. Ambiance is different, and although the customer service at the PV location is terrible, it just feels homier. IDK if its because this place is so freakishly big, but is SUPER open, and just odd.
We had wonderful customer service here, but the food caliber definitely took a hit.
I had the fajitas for one– and its a lot of food. I try to try different stuff every time I hit up Morelias, and I’ve never had a bad meal here. Drinks could be stronger, honestly, especially for Mexican food. but its worth dining!

I have come here several times for business meetings. Everytime we have horrible service that is slow and shows how little they care about customers. Orders wrong, take forever, but when we do get food it’s good food. Fix your staff problem and maybe more people will come. I have already asked my business team to find a new place we can go to and enjoy food while we talk about things.

Worst experience ever. Took two hours to get our food. The only thing good was the margarita. Literally two hours and the place had maybe 4 tables of people when we came in! Too an hour just to get an appetizer. So disgusted in my taco salad! Two hours… A taco salad and they didn’t even make it like they got advertised on the menu

location location location… bad food… poor service… orange juice margaritas.
the waitress shot the breeze with one table and when my drink came it was not as ordered… food come out blazing in some areas and cold in others… the mark of chef Mike (microwave)…right down the street but I won’t stop there again… there is a competitor across the street that does everything right… if you go there do not make friends they will not be open long

Friday night DJ Albert made it happen with a birthday party we had a nice table set up next to the DJ, The dance floor was in front of us, the music was great a mix of everything from Hip Hop to Spanish and Country.
Food wasn’t so great as before… mix drinks weren’t so great either. Other then that it was a good time.
Highly recommend for a party!

I had Carne asada… best I’ve had in centex. My husband had the ribeye, it was cooked just right. Thank you Sylvia and staff for a very VERY pleasant evening.

Walked right in at lunch time and was seated quickly. The place is huge, and due to that, it is quite loud. We were served chips and salsa very quickly with 2 types of salsa.
(Our waitress seemed a little rushed throughout the meal even though the place was not packed at all.)
I perused the lunch menu as did my business associate. He wanted to make a change but they said it would cost extra, hmm. After looking at the lunch menu and the prices starting at $ 7.95 for very small portions (literally one cheese taco and one taquito) I decided on the beef burrito on the regular menu for $ 8.95. There was plenty of food on that plate compared to the lunch plates and it was good.
They definitely have good profit margins set for the lunch menu. I was expecting a little more value.
The chips and salsa were fine, the food itself was pretty good. I have had much worse and some better. I will likely go back, but not for a good cheap lunch. There are many Mexican food places that offer better food at better prices.

OMG! Do not try Morelia’s in Round Rock in the afternoon! Still waiting to get a drink and the bartender has EVERYTHING to do but take care of their customers! And the restaurant is virtually EMPTY! REALLY???
I’ve been here once before but have walked out on service like this before at other establishments. I may never come back again and I will definitely be passing this experience on to my friends. The waitress was very apologetic but I’m giving their bartender a negative rating. Shame on management!

We wanted to try Sunday brunch buffet after Church and we saw the outside signs. We left after being seated because looking on the serving area and pans, most were empty or about to be empty. Brunch was advertised from 9am — 2pm. We arrived at 1230. Servers were inattentive even after asking them if the food pans were going to be refilled. Disappointing first visit!

About average food. Ordered the chicken fajita Chimichanga with queso on top. The chimichanga was lukewarm but in general okay. The salsa was mild. I had read the reviews about poor service but our experience was good.

I come here often and every time I have had fast service. The food is great as well especially their fajitas romanos! Yes it’s probably not the most authentic, but it sure is good. The entire wait staff is friendly and caring so if you are looking for a casual Tex-​Mex place in Round Rock this is it.

First time I went the waitresses were not that great, the younger bartender was a jerk to customers and fellow staff members, but besides that it was okay. Food is really good, drinks are a nice price, but I would recommend anyone who goes there to get seated with Eric. He wasn’t our waiter but he was so incredibly friendly and helpful to our large party and even informed us of the Friday night events they host at Morelia’s. Eric was very kind and sweet and honestly the reason my large party ended up staying for a few hours. Awesome guy!

Another play on the current Tex-​Mex trend of Mexican «grills» with lots of fajitas, steaks, and grilled chicken dishes. Our service was efficient, although not super friendly and my entrée came out incorrectly.
It’s an option in the area, but definitely not worth a special trip.

Well, well, well — my friends and I had lunch here for the first time today. Very nicely done on the décor and a large place with an outdoor patio. Whats not to like.
Today the service was so fine!
My friends had the chicken fajitas and I had the beef fajitas with rice and beans as sides.
They liked their chicken fajitas. The beef fajitas were kinda OK, very tough to eat and they were cold, the floor tortillas seem old and a little bit hard. The sides were OK.
Would I go back? Sure when my friends want to go.

Mediocre and overpriced with weak drinks, the poor quality was only matched by the lackluster service. It started with walking into the hostess more interested in talking to her boyfriend then seating us and ended with my empty drink, and getting handed a check without asking if I wanted another. I counted eight customers and nine employees standing around wishing all the customers would leave so they could go home. Thoroughly unimpressed, I suggest you pass it up… Even the chili’s next door would have been a better option.

If you open the door at Morelia and hear live music playing, put your left foot behind your right, right foot behind your left, turn around, get in your car, and go to Verde’s Parrilla across the street. Or heck, go to Taco Cabana across the street. It’s for your own safety.
Why? Because if you decide to eat at Morelia when live music is playing, you won’t be able to taste your delicious fajitas and enchiladas because your head will explode after being seated so close to speakers and a singer that are so incredibly loud that your head will literally explode, thus preventing you from ever enjoying delicious fajitas and enchiladas again.
Seriously though, if you love a place where the hostess acts like she’s totally inconvenienced when leading you in to the main dining room and then rolls her eyes as she places menus on your table located right next to blaring speakers from a live Tejano musician then this is the perfect place for you. We had three kids with us and had to ask to move to a different table away from the speakers. As we got up to switch tables, the singer thought we were standing up to dance with her. «Sorry, the children don’t want to dance with you. We’ll just smile and cha-​cha over to a table in the corner. It’s still loud but at least our heads won’t explode».. .. she couldn’t hear us.
The manager eventually asked the musician to turn the volume down. The restaurant gave a collective sigh of relief. I just can’t put in to words how incredibly loud it was– like they were playing for a stadium instead of a family Tex Mex restaurant.
If you go here, try the fajitas. You can get them smothered with cheese, mushrooms, and onions and they’re really quite delicious. They also have the basic Tex Mex classics and a good amount of options on the kids menu.
If the management of Morelia ever reads this, please, please, please check the volume of your musicians in the dining room. My ears are still ringing.

The food is great and so are the drinks! However, I do agree with other reviews about the service. My co-​workers and I went there for some drinks and one of the young ladies that work there dropped some glasses by our table. A little glass and water fell on my co-​worker and the young lady who dropped it said nothing. That was unbelievable to me. She wiped the floor and kept moving. We didn’t get a «sorry», «are you okay», nothing. The manager did her best to provide some customer service but the FOH staff needs a little extra training. I have a couple of other service examples but I would be typing forever. If it wasn’t for the food and drinks, I wouldn’t give them 3 stars. But the BOH deserves credit for a job well done.
And if I could make a suggestion… Most people who enjoy happy hours are ready to roll on Fridays. I don’t know whose decision it was to get rid of HH on Fridays but they should rethink that. The drinks are great but to show appreciation to those who frequent the establishment for the drinks and convert new customers into returning customers, HH on Fridays would be a great start.

We must’ve eaten at the wrong place, at least per the prior reviews. Blah food, zero taste, zero effort on the spiciness. Served all three dinners at room temperature.
Avoid, avoid, avoid.

I had such a great experience the 1^st time I ate here in the evening. So I just new the Sunday brunch buffet was going to be great. NOT! We got there at 1130 brunch was over at 130. They could never keep anything stocked. The whole time we were there they were out of clean plates then they never replaced soups. Then left items just plain empty. At nearly 15 bucks a head not worth the slim pickings we got to graze over. Disappointed to say the least!

I came here for the first time today with my 2 kids. We arrived at about 430pm and seated right away. Wasn’t busy at all. Apparently there is music after 8pm, from what I saw. Anyways… I would give the food 4 stars and the overall service from the staff 2 stars.
The chips, salsa, and the rest of our food was very good! Our server however… not so much. Our food was dropped off by Trevor, very nice gentleman who was the only one who smiled and actually greeted us. Our server (Araceli, whose name I got by looking at our ticket at the very end of our service) took our order but NEVER came back to check on us after we received our food… Only when it was time to pay.
With this being our first time, I felt that she could’ve taken 30 seconds to stop by our table to see how ever thing turned out and if there was anything else we needed. There were only 6 other tables seated and SEVERAL staff members there so no excuse as to why they couldn’t take the time to check on the tables. They need better guidance from management on how to properly serve and greet their guests.
And I thought it was strange that no one in the restaurant had name tags on?! Why?!
I would return for the food but the serve could really improve.

Really nicely decorated large restaurant and we were seated immediately.
Service was fast but not friendly — a smile and any bit of eye contact would go a long way.
The chips and salsa were good and kept full and my husband really liked the chimichanga he ordered. I ordered a combo plate that came with a cheese enchilada and pork carnitas — the enchilada was pretty decent but the pork was really dry so I didn’t eat it. We both really liked the beans and rice which can often be bland at many restaurants.
Overall it was a pretty average visit but I think there are lots of better options in Austin.

I have tried several Mexican restaurants. This one is at participating with the best one! Why?
Consistent Quality from day of the week to through lunch and dinner. Everything have been very good:
Chicken Fajitas
Flauta Tacos
Shrimp with Jalopeno and Quest
Very Good Chips and Salsa and also Aa Green Jalopeno salsa which is not extremely hot!
Great Big Delicious Margaritas served by a Friendly Staff :)

If this place could get their service up to snuff, it would be 5 stars. And that is a real shame!
The food is wonderful. I have loved everything I’ve had here. I travel nearby for work a lot, and Morelia’s is a stop at least once, if not twice, a week when in town. I just wish their service was better!
The servers are friendly enough, just incompetent. I don’t like it when I have to go wandering around the [nearly empty] restaurant lo find someone to bring a refill, or the extra tortillas I ordered 15 minutes ago, or whatever.
But damn, I do love the food.

Wow. Just had the beef fajita quesadillas. Unbelievably good. It came with home made tortillas, grilled beef, and melty cheese, all tasting just right!
I also was served a beer in a schooner! Awesome.
This place has really good Mexican food. You must try it. Highly recommended!

I love their fajitas, don’t get me wrong but this is for my experience in trying to reserve a space at this facility.
So I recently got married, but after spending so much on the wedding and honeymoon we weren’t about to go all out for a rehearsal dinner also. We had a lot of family that was coming into town but because something can always go wrong, you never know who is actually going to make it in on time, etc.
I filled out the online request for more information about their catering (because there wasn’t an option about reserving a space). I got a call back and because I am in nursing school its very difficult for me to get to a phone sometimes. I was able to return Carlos phone call, but mentioned I may not be able to answer so if he could send me an email with more information, and price to reserve a room (for everyone paying dutch).
A week goes by… nothing.
I called back, and was able to get speak to him, he said he’d call me back at 11:30. Ok. He calls back to tell me that he would allow us to rent a space for $ 150, IF we can guarantee 20+ people. Apparently, the norm is a minimum of 30.
So even with paying $ 150 to reserve a room, if I cant get 20 people to show, what happens then?
We ended up going elsewhere but it was very sad that one of my fave places to eat:
1) took a week and change to get me an answer that could have been given in minutes
2) I couldn’t move fwd since I couldn’t guarantee 20 bodies in seats
