Andy’s Frozen Custard

Thought I’d take the Triple Chocolate Concrete and the Ozark Turtle on a taste drive… hypothesis was the Ozark Turtle would win bay farrrrr. Much to my surprise, the experiment has proven me wrong. TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CONCRETE is the winner!!! Anyone challengers want to compete against Triple Chocolate Concrete in the next bout??? I have an obligation to my community to go back over to Andy’s for another Taste Drive.

We love Andy’s ice cream. We go so much that we have gotten 3 free treats with our card. The staff is fast and always friendly! The ice cream is amazing! I love the snow monster!

Hands down best frozen custard shop out there… The cookies n cream milkshake is BOMBB!!! This is the only place I go now when I’m having a sweet tooth!

I don’t know how anyone could Andy’s less than a five star review — this place beats any ice cream or custard I’ve ever had. Not only are they reasonably priced, they’re really fast, friendly, and even provide little sampler cones for your furry friends if they’ve come along for the ride.
My go-​to is the Jackhammer with M&M mixings and Cookie Dough down the middle. I really love that they have Vanilla and Chocolate custard. There’s no indoor seating, but they do have misting fans out on their patio for those hot days.
I am never disappointed when I go to Andy’s!

The mrs told me about this place before they were even in Austin. Stopped by a few times now when I pass it! Stands out from other places and great for the prices!

I wish this place had never moved by my house. It’s too close and too good. The best custard. The widest variety of options. Apple Pie and Key Lime concretes are pinnacle.
Even a swirl cone is a treat here. If only I could have someone shock me every time I thought of going to this place.

This is a bad place for a diet. The funky james brown concrete is insanely good.

I couldn’t eat it fast enough as it was melting faster. I had the Butter Pecan Concrete Custard. Vanilla frozen custard blended with butterscotch and pecans. It was really good. Fast service and they accidently made a large. Great little hand out.

I haven’t seen one of these since I was in Tyler Texas. super tasty! I tried the custom custard with crushed pecans, strawberries and cheesecake bites. Omg. I can die happy

–I had the Pumpkin Pie Concrete. While I’m not too big a fan of pumpkin (and especially not on my coffee!), I wanted something seasonal since I can always get the normal menu items another time. Glad I tried, it was delicious!
A bit pricey but custard is incredibly rich and not something to eat all the time. I can deal with premium costs for something I may have once a month or so. Besides, small size is all you need really.
Service — very friendly!
The music was surreal. Throwback to an earlier and happier time. I liked it.
A class above Freddy’s in my opinion

WE love Andy’s. It is literally absolutely delicious! I love their seasonal flavor offerings and I love how friendly they always are. The Strawberry Shortcake and Key Lime Pie concrete are the best things ever to hit my lips. for real.

YUMMY YUMMY! Stopped in on a hot afternoon.
I got Andy’s Ozark Turtle. Heaven in a cup. Vanilla frozen custard covered with hot fudge, crème caramel, roasted pecans, and topped with a cherry. Goodness in every bit.
Downside — NO INDOOR SEATING so if it’s hot, be prepared to sit outdoors or take it home. (We went home but we live close).
Absolutely delicious. Kind of pricey so I am not sure I’d want to stop in with a big family. :)
But for us — it’s a great place to get a treat once in awhile.

YUMMMMMM!!! Before I tried this place, I always drove past as there was a large line always there around dinner time. I waited for a weekend afternoon when there was no line and we took off to try some custard! SO GOOD.
Their Butter Pecan Concrete is delicious. The pecans are the best part of anything on the menu. I first tried this brownie sundae thing they had (it had some not so funny but ridiculous name). The brownie was great but the it needed more custard. Hubby got the James Brown something Jackhammer with peanut butter and fudge and SO GOOOOD! Last we tried an Orange Freeze (custard, flavor, and soda mixed). That was refreshing as hell.
So far, this place is awesome! Some of the best custard in town, especially for Round Rock. They’re fast, too. Don’t let the line fool you. They’re very fast.
No indoor seating. They have a large covered patio.
Their sizes are a bit large for certain menu items so I’d recommend splitting stuff or going small. A little bit goes a long way (and it can be a touch pricey!)

We loved the Andy’s location that opened in Tyler, TX. So much so that it was about the only thing we missed besides people after moving to Round Rock. When we saw a location was opening there, they kids and my wife started a countdown!
If you have not tried it, frozen custard is NOT ice cream. I prefer the texture of frozen custard and this is the best. Everything is delicious. The service is quick and friendly. Do not let the line scare you off. They will efficiently move you right through to your treats. The atmosphere is great, a fun and welcoming feel.
This is by far our favorite sweet spot!

Well weve driven by this place dozens of time and finally decided to stop by.
Things I learned:
1. Their 16oz really weighs 16oz. Maybe even more
2. I don’t remember the names of things we ordered but one was a brownie sundae, the other was a chocolate something, and the third was a cone.
3. Unless youre having a major sweet tooth or plan to share, anything bigger than a small is unnecessary.
4. Service was really good at the drive thru. My daughter dropped a scoop of ice cream off her cone And they gave us a whole new cone.
5. Servings are very generous for the price compared to other ice cream shops
Bottom line: no hesitation recommending this place for dessert.

Waiting in a drive through line 8 cars deep at 9:15 on a Friday night so the kids and I can indulge in Andy’s concretes made with their delicious frozen custard basically sums up my life choices– and I’m fine with that! Creamy, delicious, not super cheap but well worth it. Plenty of mix-​ins available– tonight we did cookie dough and butterfinger! Definitely worth dropping in for a treat.

Custard comparable to Freddy’s. Portions are huge though, even the small is just a bit too much but I had no problem enjoying the whole thing.
The retro vibe is really cute and all the employees seemed to be having a great time.
Something we overlooked was that there’s no indoor seating but the counter service area smartly faces away from the afternoon sun which makes it not so bad.
If I lived in Round Rock, sad and far away from all the wonderful Amy’s, this would be my go-​to ice cream place.

This was our first visit to Andy’s and I’m sure we’ll frequent the one closer to our house in Pflugerville (however, at these prices, I doubt we’ll go there *too* often).
My husband opted for the small blackberry concrete while I chose the coffee custard bar dipped in dark chocolate. Those two items totaled over $ 8. Ouch! The blackberry concrete was pretty tasty and you could tell they used real blackberries in it. My coffee custard bar was prepackaged and I could barely taste the coffee flavor so I won’t get that again. But they have a lot of options so it won’t be hard to find something else.
If you’re looking for a tasty treat and don’t mind spending a lot for it, go here. If you’re in need of something super cheap (but delicious) to cool off, head west on 79 to Paleteria La Selva.

I live for dessert. Sweets are my favorite thing on earth, therefore I was ecstatic to come here and try their popular frozen custard. I knew it must be because at 10 pm on a Friday night the drive thru line was 10 cars deep and counting. Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that it’s made fresh every hour?
I wasn’t sure what made custard different from ice cream so I googled it to feed my curiosity. According to Wikipedia, custard is made with cream and sugar like ice cream is but with the addition of eggs which I think is what gives it that silky mouthfeel.
The menu here is enormous making it possible to get any flavor combination you can dream up. I knew I wanted to try a ‘concrete’ which is what they call it when they take their vanilla custard and blend it with your choice of toppings. The name is unfortunate as that’s exactly what it feels like in your stomach approximately 30 minutes after eating it, but wow is it delicious!
Much like Dairy Queen blizzards, they have a featured flavor every month and this time it was Strawberry Shortcake. It has freshly baked shortcake, sliced strawberries, vanilla custard, and I believe a strawberry sauce. I was extremely tempted but being my first visit went for something more basic.
I got a «small» concrete with Oreos mixed in. I put that in quotations because the small here is about the size of a Grande Starbucks cup filled to the brim with custard. You’ve been warned.
It was probably the first time in my life that I wasn’t able to finish a dessert too. While it’s indeed heavenly, it’s also incredibly rich and not something I could eat everyday. As a once in a while treat though? You betcha.

TBH, they’re a bit on the pricey side. but their «ice cream» is DELISH!
I’ve not had anything bad yet. And with no Blue Bell insight, this will surely be on heavy rotation this summer.
