Established in 2011.

Attorneys Edward A. Smith and Stephan M. Brown along with Eric T. Welch, Legal Administrator forms the team at The Bankruptcy Group, P.C. Together they built the firm, which specializes in bankruptcy, and focuses on client service. The firm is responsive to client needs and accessible when clients need us most. The Bankruptcy Group offers evening and weekend appointments, in order to accommodate our clients work schedules and family responsibilities. The firm provides each client with a direct contact cell number, email addresses and direct dial office phone numbers to enhance communication. The firm offers flat fee pricing for all bankruptcy cases. It a simple concept, yet it is lost in most traditional law firms. Our passion for client service guides us and is reflected in the results we are able to achieve for our clients on a daily basis.

Edward A. Smith is licensed by the California State Bar and has been in continuous practice as an attorney since 1989.

Mr. Smith has a wide breadth of civil law experience, including civil litigation in State and Federal Court, bankruptcy, probate and estate planning, real property law and in formation and representation of small businesses.

With the down turn in the economy, rise of unemployment, state employer furlough pay reductions and the housing crisis, all in the last decade, Mr. Smith has steadily increased his law practice emphasis to represent consumers in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies to help consumers keep their homes.

Bankruptcy is awful. It’s better when you’ve got someone on your side who knows what they are doing. From my first phone call to their office, the initial consultation, through all of my annoying e-​mails, through to the discharge of my case, they let me know it was gonna be OK. The price was in line with others I checked, they set up an easy payment schedule and Eric was always available. Thanks guys!

Stephan is very knowledgeable about both personal and business taxation and bankruptcy. I came to him with a client who had the IRS and Franchise Tax Board breathing down her neck, and she was deeply considering bankruptcy for herself and her business. After meeting with Stephan and helping my client weigh her options, we were able to avoid bankruptcy and reach a resolution with the IRS and looming creditors. I can truly say that Stephan is a rarity. Unlike most tax attorneys, Stephan has hands-​on experience due to his background as an Enrolled Agent. Eric, Steve, and Ed of the TBG have been excellent throughout our BK process. Eric has spent countless hours answering our questions and all patiently and with a smile. They never judged or made us feel bad for having to go through this process; it was a very respectful process and they provided the facts for us. When we went through the 341B meeting, Steve met us there and we had to sit through 8 other cases before ours was called. It was very obvious from the countless issues other debtors were having that TBG dots every I and crosses every T. We had one minor question (pulse check) and we were on our way. They are very professional, knowledgable and you can tell they truly care about their clients. I would recommend TBG to anyone who has to go through this process.

I really can’t say enough about Amir Javideyan and everyone at The Bankruptcy Group. Never in my life have I been so satisfied with a product or service that I felt inclined to write a review, but the level of service I received during my bankruptcy process merits a sixth star on a five star scale, and so here I am.
Coming from a background in fine dining where service is the name of the game, I can tell you with great confidence that you simply will not find a better attorney to guide you through your bankruptcy. Amir is a true professional from start to finish and highly knowledgeable about bankruptcy law (which benefited me greatly on more than one occasion), but what really impressed me was his level of compassion and the great lengths he went to in order to make the whole process as painless and easy as possible. I could tell that he genuinely cared about me as a person and wanted the very best outcome for my case and my financial future.
From my very first phone call and consultation, all of my many questions and concerns were addressed promptly and thoroughly (including questions I had weeks and months after my official discharge). Whenever I met with Amir in person, I always had his complete and undivided attention. When communicating by email, I never waited long for a response. Filing for bankruptcy is not a fun process, but I actually looked forward to my meetings with Amir and always left with the feeling that my case was being handled with great competency and care.
There is a reason that The Bankruptcy Group is rated five stars across the board on Unilocal.Do not be tempted by the lowest bidders and two-​line ads in the newspaper. I honestly could have paid twice the amount I did, and I still would have felt like I underpaid for the service I received. Amir is a rare individual in a world full of people trying to make a quick buck for doing the least amount of work possible. He is not in it for the money ladies and gentleman. He truly cares. So I found TBG on Unilocal and thank God. People If your in need of filling bankruptcy these are the men you need to see. Thank you Eric Welch and Amir from TBG these guys put up with all my stupid questions and more importantly they put up with my last minute adds to my bankruptcy. Folks I wasn’t able to come up with the total cost and so TBG took and will take your payments til paid and will get you set like they did for me. After 2 years of laboring to make a decision I knew I had to make, I choose to file bankruptcy. After much research it was critical for me to choose someone that only specializes in bankruptcy. Financial trouble is quite possibly the most stressful situation to be in. I knew I needed to do something but wasn’t sure if bankruptcy was the right choice. This was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, deciding to file bankruptcy. I was sure it would be awful… I was wrong. Eric and Amir helped me through an extremely difficult decision and time. I had gone to another firm, but was advised by a friend to go in for the free (hour) consultation. Eric and Amir looked over all my paperwork and discussed with me all my options, coming to the conclusion what would be best for my situation. I never felt rushed in the consultation. They took their time, discussing between each other the pro’s & con’s of each option. They practically held my hand the entire process.
I never felt alone, in fact, they made me feel like I was their only client (but I know that isn’t the truth, they are a very busy firm). From the moment I met them, I felt that they cared about my situation and my goals to retire sometime in my life. Amir took the time, after our court appearance, to sit with me and let me know what would happen next. Although, they both did that with me the entire process. If I had a question, I called or emailed and they got back to me in a very timely manner.
Oh, most importantly to me, I am anal about my paperwork and we were the ONLY firm that had our paperwork in order on my court date. The other firms looked so unprofessional, missing one document or another, not completing the entire packet, etc. But my TBG paperwork was impeccable! Their eye for detail is a reflection of how they conduct business. You can expect nothing but perfection from Eric and Amir.

I recently had to make one of the biggest financial decisions of my life…
I had to make a very serious and important decision and consider Bankruptcy and I set out to find the best firm that would understand my needs and my overall situation. After researching several firms I decided to reach out to the TBG The Bankruptcy Group.
When I contacted TBG through their website and I was promptly provided with a pleasant response from Eric and we scheduled a time to meet and go over my situation. I meant with Eric and Amir and during the meeting I noticed that they were very focused on my needs and providing me with the information and confidence I needed to make the right decision. I felt very comfortable and actually had a sigh of relief knowing I finally had people that understood my situation and best of all they treated me with respect, dignity. I felt so confident that upon leaving the first meeting I clearly understood my options and had the ability to make a sound decision and at that point there was no doubt that wanted to hire Eric and Amir to assist me.
After hiring Eric and Amir of the TBG I was absolutely blown away by the level of professionalism, and the care that displayed in handling my case and best of all they were easy talk to and very accessible and worked around my schedule.
