5 Stars ONLY because of the SUPERIOR customer service that I received from ASHLEY! Ashley went above and beyond her duties to try her best at meeting my needs. I needed a specific fabric print and this store only had a bolt of 8 yards. I needed 11 yds. Ashley helped me search other stores to find another 3 yds. She kept in contact with me to help me locate the print at other stores. I went to the Elk Grove store 3 times and was told they had the print but it was still in the stock room needing to be unloaded. Ashley called the manager to search for the bolt and had it placed on hold for me. If she had not done that I’m sure I’d still be waiting for them to unload their stock room. Ashley showed a sincere interest in helping me gather the 11 yds that I needed. This is the kind of customer service that should occur on a daily basis. She has tremendous dedication to her job as a Joanns employee. I hope she will be considered for advancement opportunities with Joanns. Joanns can use more dedicated employees like Ashley.

Ashley the manager of the fabric dept is an exceptional employee! I had an issue with a young lady cutting my fabric and it had a huge crease in it. (it was home fabric I was going to have put on a roll) and I told her I don’t want it with that huge crease. She just said ok and took the fabric and walked away! No offer to get another one! So I walked back to get another one. And Ashely asked if I was finding everything ok. I explained what happen and she was more than happy to cut my fabric for me. I was very pleased with the outcome! Line was long for check out but cashier was sweet.

I agree with many of the comments here: The service can be hit or miss, but yesterday I got lucky: Betty helped me out, and she was wonderful. I made sure to tell her manager, Ellen, whom I’ve talked with before. I get the feeling things have improved greatly (I’ve been coming here for 10 years) since Helen became manager. The cashier was also terrific; I didn’t get her name.
Also in agreement with others: Avoid Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays; be prepared to wait in line at the register (they have magazines to read); and when you need fabric cut, take a number from their little machine BEFORE you are ready so you don’t have to wait so long at the cutting table.
And be sure to take advantage of their coupons; they are VERY aggressive about getting you the best deal they can. Load the Jo-​Ann app into your phone before you get to the cutting table and/​or the head of the cash register line for a better experience.
I’m from SF, so for me, the fabric inventory here is NOT amazing; can’t compare to Britex of course, but then what can? Jo-ann’s does have an interesting new display of Cosplay fabrics, which are a great addition to their stock. I bought some.

Waited my turn for the cutting table, the bolt I brought up did not have enough fabric so I went to get another bolt (is that the customers job?) off the shelf, when I returned a few minutes later the person helping me is now helping someone else and I’m told the the gal next to her would help me (really!) not only did the new gal not even acknowledge me she helped others and just left me standing there. Just another day at Joann’s

Don’t ever call this place. Rude as hell and lazy. Was on hold forever. And I know places get busy, but maybe let me know I’m going to be spending 20 minutes waiting on the phone. Called

And the woman’s response, «well I don’t know.» Well I’m calling before I drove all the way out there!!! Geezes. Not shopping at this one anymore. Work
On your customer service people.

I get it, it’s the holidays, they have long lines. I don’t mind standing in long line, I have a lot of patience and Jew what I was getting myself into when I walked in the door.
What I don’t have patience for is a rude cashier. My credit card was not working when I swiped it through the reader. I tried again and again and it just wasn’t reading the number. Since it’s a newer card and has a chip, I asked her if I should place it into the chip reader? She said «we are not set up for chip yet!» She then said in a snippy voice «the machine just DOES NOT LIKE your card!» (Mind you, the card itself is perfectly fine, just used it at another store and another after Jo –Ann’s) basically, she was ready for me to just walk right out of the store at this point without a sale. No alternatives were offered, no ofter to punch in the card number manually, try another register/​card swiper. She just put her hands up in the air clueless. Luckily, I had just enough cash to purchase an item I needed that day to finish a project. Of course she was upset that the transaction had to be suspended and she had to re-​ring that item.
I’ve never had a problem at this Jo-​Ann location before, in fact, I’ve even used this card there a couple weeks prior (though it was at a different register)
So what I’m saying is, just be aware if you have a newer credit card with a chip, it may work, it may not. Bring cash to save yourself from aggravation:)

Katie at the fabric counter is amazing. She is super helpful and sweet. She had the right attitude about customer service. My sister and I always ask for her. She really takes time and doesn’t get frustrated about how many customers she helps. A ++++!

Making NFL pillows for my grandsons and they had just what I was looking for!

JoAnn’s…ya either like it or you don’t. Personally, my experience here is pretty hit or miss. Some days its great and has tons of stock and other days it looks like a tornado hit and there’s nothing on the shelves.
I’ve picked up some pretty good deals here over the last few years and its always worth it to check out their clearance section.
Parking is no problem and there are spots usually right in front of the store.

Being a teacher and someone who likes DIY projects, I have gone to Jo-Ann’s often. I always asked myself why I go back after leaving the store. The line is always SO long, yet no one calls for backup. It’s a hit-​or-​miss with customer service; however, many times I get a rude employee who seems too busy to help me out.
Today, I went with my mom to get some random items, one of which was fabric. After waiting for a couple of minutes, I got a girl Kiki to help me out. She was fantastic! She talked to us about the coupon policy (which is very lenient, by the way) and was more helpful on this one trip to Jo-Ann’s than the other 20+ trips I’ve made there, put together. Thank you Kiki for restoring my faith in quality customer service at Joann’s Fabric in Roseville.

Great selection and always have great coupons! Makes crafting very afforable

I recently purchased 10 total yards of cheap fabric for a project. I was disappointed that the fabric station would not cut my fabrics into half yard increments. I don’t have utensils or equipment to cut a perfectly straight line down three feet of fabric. It was a small task that required a little more effort for them. There was also nobody behind me in line so I could not see a logical reason that they wouldn’t be able to do that other than laziness. The girl just simply said ‘we don’t do that’. She also murmured to a coworker that she was off in ten minutes, which seems like she was just being lazy. As a paying customer I felt like it wasn’t too much to ask. The girls at the register were super nice though!

This place has everything a crafter could possibly desire! Seriously! Come on and take a look. I was in here for scrapbook items recently, a lot of the spots were out of stock though so that was disappointing. Luckily though there was a 40% off sale for the items I was buying! They also have an app for your phone which has coupons so that’s worth downloading if you’re going to pop in here for some items! The lines can be long here so just be patient :) if you’re looking to save some money Wal Mart has a much smaller but cheaper selection of crafting supplies. If you’re lazy like me and want a one stop shop, don’t waste your time and just head here!

#1 reason I hate joAnn fabrics. 11am on a Saturday there are 3 people working the registers for a 40 person line and there’s no one else working in the store. Don’t go with questions you’ll be there for a week. Send snacks.

I went to Joann expecting bad service like I always get at Michael’s. I’ve been to 1 million fabric stores at this point in my life and no one has been as wonderful to me as Campwest here at the Joannes fabric store. I will come here over and over again even though it’s not in my hometown, simply because she treated me better than I have ever been treated before. She saved me money, She helped me to create what I needed to create an overall made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I would shop there again and again!

Visited the Joanne’s on Five Star three times in two weeks. Each time I was helped as I am sure that I looked lost. I wrote down all three ladies who assisted me and will personally write a letter to the store manager.
I love this store, merchandise is always good and with all the coupons, it is a great buy for this family.

It’s a great place to get some fabric. We also come here for some of our scrapbooking needs. Great prices and they take competitor coupons. I have not had a bad experience here but I also haven’t had a great experience. It’s usually way to busy to get some help, but I guess that’s not a bad thing.

I went tonight hoping to get some craft items. I only saw 1 employee and when I asked her about an item she looked confused and told me to ask the lady at the register with the long line of customers.
Overall, I like Joann chain since they usually carry everything I need. But if I have to search all over the store to find crafts that’s a big problem!

I LOVE this store. I rarely shop at any other craft stores because this store is THAT amazing!!! The employees that have worked there a long time are all very friendly. Some even recognize me and my kids and always say hello. They don’t carry everything that some of the other hobby stores carry. But there is still a HUGE variety of things. And the biggest bonus… they will take pretty much any coupon, stack them and price match!!! I save soooo much money by shopping here and that makes me happy :)

I cannot imagine a reason that I would go back to Jo-​Ann Fabrics on purpose. I have always remembered it being kid of a dumpy chain but that experience was reiterated this past weekend. Rainbow Loom — it’s the current rage. I gave them a call to see if, by chance, they carried this product and accessories. Their response? «Yes!» Me: «Do you have lots of bands?» Them: «Yes, TONS! We even have extra hooks.» Great. So I drive myself and steppish daughter over and guess what? They do NOT carry Rainbow Loom, they have a SCANT selection of cheap knock-​off brand looms and bands and the extra hooks that they have? Yeah, they’re crochet hooks. The information I was given over the phone was a complete misrepresentation of reality and caused me to make a wasted trip. If you are in the market for Rainbow Loom, stick with Learning Express.
Aside form this, the store is a poor representation of a craft /​fabric store. I would def go elsewhere if I needed anything along those lines.

Love all the teacher supplies here! And i always use their coupons. However, the line is always so incredibly long to check out. That is definitely a downer.

I really like this store! The employees have always been super helpful and great about helping find merchandise and using coupons! Only once a girl got bitchy with me about what order of coupons I gave her and «it was too late to do the competitor coupons after the Joann’s» … But ever since then I have not had issues with the coupons.
They have a fairly good selection of crafty goodness… Unfortunately they are missing quite a few important kids activity stuff like colored sand, and other random stuff like that …

It’s your average Joanns which means completely understaffed. It’s hard to keep a store clean, in-​stock, & employees happy to help, when there are never enough employees in the store to do so. The higher-​ups make this call, not the store.
With that said, it’s good for what it is. Expect to find many items out-​of-​stock, the store trashed (especially during the holidays), long, slow lines, & no one to help you if you need assistance out on the floor. And again, this is NOT the fault of the employees/​management. They do what they can with the VERY limited resources given to them by Corporate.
I’ve never had an issue with bad customer service at this store, at the register or the cutting counter. If you want an employee to have a long, gabby conversation with you & consider it bad customer service when they don’t, then don’t complain about lines. I prefer them to move quickly & efficiently, being courteous but not chatty with me so that the line moves & I can get on with my day. So far this is the experience I have had with their employees & I’m fine with that.

Good ol’ Joann’s Fabrics. A mainstay for the creative types and crafty stay at home moms. This place is set up like most with the required assortment of crafts, fabrics, decorations, wedding needs and framing.
I mostly come here for canvases and painting supplies, and they are usually on sale, which sometimes makes it even cheaper than Blick Art Supplies in the Bay Area. The variety and depth of merchandise can be lacking, but the customer service and friendliness more than make up for it. Solid four stars all the way.
