Specialties
From Zagat 2012:
«There’s ‘something for everyone’ at this ‘upscale-funky’ Rosendale New American offering ‘affordable’ eats from ‘straightforward’ sandwiches and burgers (the veggie version is «fabulous») to ‘inventive’ dishes with an Asian ‘spin’; a ‘thoughtful’ crew adds to the ‘comfort vibe’, so factor in ‘couture martinis’, a ‘fantastic beer list’ and an ‘inviting’, ‘breezy’ garden and ‘it’s the kind of place you want to be a regular.’ «

History
Established in 2006.
Stop into the bywater bistro & lounge for the best regional craft beers on draft, snacks or when you are hungry for dinner! Open Thursday through Tuesday 5pm to closing. The menu boasts old favorites (crab cake portobello, red cabbage salad with cranberry vinaigrette, and vegetable burger) in addition to full dinners and new specials every weekend. We have outdoor deck and garden seating. So, come out and see us, whether it is to have a glass of wine while admiring Mimi’s green thumb in the garden or to enjoy house cocktails & appetizers in our lounge, or to sit on the deck to taste one of Sam’s newest creations featuring locally grown produce — it’s well worth the trip.

Business Owner
Bywater Bistro chef Sam Ullman, previously worked as sous chef at The Old Mill Restaurant in South Egremont, Massachusetts, Bizen in Great Barrington and The Northern Spy Café in High Falls. For the summer season he has assembled a menu that uses local ingredients to create everything from Asian influenced flavors, to bistro classics with a twist. A sampling from the menu might include as appetizers the citrus
glazed smoked salmon wrapped scallop over micro-greens with an orange vinaigrette. For entrees one might find Lamb lion chops over soft parmesan polenta accompanied by sautéed rocket and shallots. And for dessert try an Earl Grey infused chocolate ganache in a shortbread tart. The food is very much a reflection of the overall approach of this
family, «more then anything, we want a friendly place where everyone from the community can come and enjoy the best of what our little town has become».
