I only go here to see my barber Zhana! I stumbled in here one day when I decided that I needed a barber rather than going to same old corporate and supposedly inexpensive salon. First time I was here, I met Zhana. She is and will only be the only barber I will let touch my hair here at Jim and Gary’s. She has over 40 years experience and does my hair perfectly every time. I have only met one other barber that happens to be there every time I go see Zhana but I will definitely not let her touch my hair. See Attached pics I post of the before and after. She does exactly what I want whether it’s the same haircut or if I want a little change and show her a different style. She always pulls out the straight razor to clean up the edges. The prices are perfect at $ 14 a cut and end up dropping $ 20 with tip every time which is comparable to other salons and bit cheaper than other barbers. Don’t expect much with the décor or the size of the shop but your not there to admire that but simply to get a haircut. I’ve always been able to walk in and out 30 – 40 minutes max without any appointment. I’ve gotten a beard trim(always perfect) but never a shave so I cannot comment. Yes they only take cash, but is that really a big deal? I’d recommend it every time.

I get shaves here every so often and the lady always does an amazing job. She is very thorough and precise when giving an outline shave. It is reasonably priced as well!

I received the worst haircut of my life here. I came in wanting to support a small local business instead of one of the chain shops that are so prevalent here, I came out worse off than if I had cut my hair in my own bathroom. All I wanted was a #0 on the sides faded to a #2 on top. The«barber» that cut my hair was one of 3 old guys that were sitting out front, he brought me back to the last chair in the shop which happens to be terribly lit with the mirror relatively far away. He spent a few minutes doing the cut and it looked fine at first, I paid him and was on my way. When I got to work later that afternoon, I looked in the mirror in the well lit bathroom and nothing was even anywhere. There were big patches that were longer than others! I spent my entire shift looking like an idiot. The next day I went in and talked to the owner, he said«oh wow, that is bad. If you wanted a short haircut, you shouldn’t have gone to him» how the heck was I supposed to know that, and why do they even have someone there that can’t cut hair?! The owner did«fix» my hair by shaving everything down to zero and returned my money, but it was still the worst haircut I’ve ever had. They also don’t accept cards, this IS the 21st century, right? I would urge everyone to stay away from this place

I took my two sons here for haircuts and am definitely not impressed. First was the realization that they are stuck in the 19th century and do not accept credit cards. I had to run across the street and pay a $ 3ATM fee to get cash. The barber was cutting one of my son’s hair while I ran across the street and it looked rather strange when I returned. It was oval shaped in front, almost like a bowl cut, or maybe a helmet, couldn’t quite tell. I reluctantly sent my second kid in after and watched the barber literally butcher his head. Apparently he never trained on scissors, and instead used the electric trimmer freehand on a 7 year old who was clearly not enjoying it and kept squirming around, resulting in some pretty good size cuts all over his neck. I will never come back here again and highly recommend you find somewhere else.

What I was looking for was a beard trim and a head shave. What I got was a beard trim and my hair buzzed. I had to ask twice to have my head shaved. She started to trim my hair and I stopped her and reiterated that I wanted her to shave all of my hair off of my head. She buzzed it all with the trimmers and said, «All done.» I just didn’t have the energy to explain myself yet again. Plus I didn’t really want the shave after that. I was disappointed she didn’t listen to me. Although, the beard trim she gave me was very well done. I was happy with that. Overall, I probably won’t go back. There are other barbers in the area. It’a nice place. Decently priced. Can only say they give nice haircuts but can’t speak on their shaving abilities.

I’m really particular about my hair, and how it’s cut. I’ve really only gone to three people to cut my hair for the past 20 years, but they’ve all been stylists not traditional barbers. I’ve always wanted to get cut up by a barber, but there’s a very limited selection of traditional barbershops outside of the city limits now. And a lot of the places out here claiming to be barber shops are too modern and stylish. Places that specialize in bald fades, and shape ups, but don’t really know what to do to shape it all when you bring them a long head of hair and want to keep length. It’s a cool place, no frills, no excessive decoration, no shelves excessively filled with styling products, just nice and simple. I was seated right away, and the barbers were old and cool, just what I expected. I went in with the intention of getting my taper cleaned up, I asked the guy to clean up the back and the sides. He said okay, looked at my head as I sat down and asked if I wanted to keep the taper, and I was happily surprised to find that he noticed it. I almost always have to re explain that to the people that regularly cut my hair. He cut it really quick, shaped it all really well, and cleaned up my edges with a razor. His razor work was clean, and when I went home, I styled it up as I usually do with a pompadour, and it went flawlessly. They can definitely expect my business again.

Jim and Gary’s is an old school barber shop that is almost from a different era. I walked in, had a seat for a couple minutes then stepped up to the chair for a fresh cut. I did not make an appointment, actually I am not even sure if you can, but it might be a good idea if you want to make sure your guy will be in that day. It seemed like there were about 4 people on staff(though I am just guessing). Hair cuts are $ 14 which is not too bad considering the detail work they do compared to the major chains. These guys were old school and payed attention to the details. I got my cut short on the sides and a little longer on top and they did a nice job. The fade up was perfect and it was nice to see that they busted out the straight razor to clean up the sides. I have never seen a professional use one in my 28 years. Ever since I lost my super hair cut connection, Hair Junk, I have been cutting my own hair or get a home hair cut… however it has gotten progressively worse and worse. The last cut I did to my self was a real piece of work. Jim and Gary’s took care of the mess and didn’t give me too hard of a time for looking like a slob. They were classy guys just looking to have a laugh and give you a good looking cut. I will definitely give them another shot as they seemed to be stand up guys.

Went to this place once — I am in constant search of an «old-school» barber shop that, when I walk out, I think to myself — that’s a reallly good haircut. Jim and Gary’s is old school — no doubt. But the haircut I got was just OK — nothing to write home about. So my search continues.
