Our color reduction line tones down grey hairs to naturally blend with your hair color. Keeping up with today’s trends are important to us and solving any hair issues that fit your needs.

History

Established in 1981.

Best Head has been in this location since 1999 that is now called The Stripe Pole. We are more than yesterday’s barbershop with services focused on the lifestyle of today’s man. Barbering is our passion and never stop learning. We also share our knowledge as educators to other professionals in our field across the nation.

Now accepting debit and credit cards! Future or same day appointments are preferred but walk-​ins are always welcome.

Probably the best barber shop in the Chicago area. I’ve been coming to Sofia for a few years, and every time I’m still impressed with the quality haircut I receive. The shop is exactly what a barber needs to be. The select number of talented and experienced barbers insures you’ll be happy with the style and cut you get. Don’t go somewhere where all they can advertise is how many tv’s they have to distract you from the terrible haircut you’re probably getting.

Had my 6 year old sons hair cut by Marty. He did a wonderful job! I love it. My son looks very handsome. It cost $ 18 and worth every cent. I have had trouble finding a place that would cut it even or the way I wanted it. I like the short clean side ms and longer front. When I say longer — it’s still short just longer than the sides. The cut was clean, even and perfect.
The shop is clean and friendly. Looks to be family owned. The atmosphere was great. I will definitely be brining him back here from now on.

Husband got a great cut by Marty. Credit card machine was down. We had to try 3 ATMs and then went to the bank to get cash. I read this in another review as well. Bring cash… Only drawback!

I walked in on a Sunday and Rita was the only hair stylist there. I didnt had any reservation but luckly Rita had me waited for only 10 mins. She does a great job and really cares about what you think. We had a great conversation and I really liked how she cut my hair. Will go back for her for sure.
P. S. She used tea tree shampoo from Paul Mitchell that I like :)

Recent price increases for Sofia have changed what should be a 4 or 5 star review to a 2. I’m not sure why prices increased 33% from $ 24 to $ 32 but that now prices her higher than Tricoci for a mens haircut ($ 30). Perhaps I’ll give some of the other stylists a try, as their prices are still the listed $ 24, though I’m guessing if one increases, more will follow suit. While I do understand you get what you pay for, I’m just not sure in the span of a month what I’m paying for is suddenly worth 8 dollars more for the same result.
This review is in no way a slight on her service, she does a great job.

After Rita listened to the type of hairstyle I was going for she asked a few questions and started cutting away! Everything came out exactly how I wanted! First time here and came based on reviews. Brief wait for Marty who asked what I wanted. I told him to clean it up, make nice, and that a #3 guard is usually used.
He free-​handed this using a comb and clipper. This was impressive, until the following day when looking with two mirrors at the back. On right side only, looked like I had a very short «bowl cut» with obvious horizontal line about four inches separating two lengths. He also left long strays on my temples. Didn’t seem like much care taken. I expected much better for $ 24 and could have gotten the same cut from an imbecile for free.
Before sending me off he told me to blow dry my hair and use my «fingers to floof it up for the illusion of fuller hair.»
When I came back the next day they were very nice about correcting the mistake. As I was seated with Rita to do this, Marty insisted he be the one to fix it. This was fine until he asked me if I went somewhere else for a haircut, as if he didn’t send me out like that, at which point I got out of his chair and asked Rita to even out the cut.
Hair will grow back, but the hassle wasn’t worth $ 24 for end result buzz cut.

Personable and professional service. I have been coming here since fall of last year on a consistent monthly basis and have never been disappointed. Sofia is extremely knowledgeable about men’s hair products/​styles and has a keen eye for detail with the work that she does. I tried other more expensive salons (including Mario Tricoci) in an attempt to get a quality cut. I ended up with a botched haircut (disconnected undercut) that was fixed by Sofia. Where has this place been all my life?! Absolutely outstanding service by talented professionals who are experienced and passionate about their craft.

As a greaser my haircut has always been a greater worry than it should be. My hair is kinda what makes me… me! I’ve been pooled to have great barbers no matter where I lived. The best barber shop in schaumburg and probably the suburbs. Its tucked away in the corner. This is one of those rare barber shop where they will make you comfortable, listen to what you want and suggest what will work or not work with the hairstyle that you want. Yes its 24 $ for the cut but would you rather pay 15 at a chain store for a mediocre cut and bland conversation or would rather pay for the experience and end up with a satisfied hair cut. Your choice. I am making this my regular shop from now on.

Ive been going to the striped pole for a few year now and I have been getting my hair cut by sofia. She is thw best! She takes her time woth the hair cut to make sure that she is cutting your haor the way you want it. if you want a fantastic hair witha barber that talks and gets to know you and remembers your name well then go to the striped pole.

I’m 31, and for the previous 18 years or so thought of getting a haircut as a chore prior to that it just sort of happened like things do when you’re kid and your parent make you do stuff.
I’ve been going here for my haircuts for about a year, and enjoy it every time. I get a great cut reliably, and while I’m there it feels like a different world. Time slows down, and it’s relaxing.
If I were to classify good barbershops and experiences into two categories– ones where conversations make you laugh At the people in the shop and ones where you laugh With the people, this is definitely one where you laugh With the people. A subtle difference, but important.
Doing some nice renovation upgrades too! Also has online appt booking and availability.
