Tristate Moving and Storage

I’ve had the WORST luck with movers (trust me I’ve moved quite a few times). Our last movers destroyed our furniture. My cousin referred me to tri state movers after she told me she’d used them twice before and had nothing but good things to say. I booked everything with the company a week prior to the move and everything was handled on POINT! They were fast and efficient. They wrapped all of our furniture. JC was the lead mover and he was super professional and helpful. We trusted these guys so much that we left them at our condo while we went and started unpacking things at our new place. I highly recommend them to everyone :-)

After a long search for a good moving company a friend of mine recommended Tristate moving. I called them for a free estimate and the person that picked up was really nice and helpful. On the moving day A Tristate truck showed up on time and the crew leader came in first to see what we have to get the move started. As he walked around he explained the process and what they were going to do with preparation before moving the stuff out. He answered all my questions then got the move started. The guys were really fast and careful with our items. They moved everything to our next location without any real issues. I’m thankful that I found this company and will use them if I ever need to move again. I highly recommend these guys !

I’ve used them a couple of times now, and I’ll be using them again if needed, they’ve always been polite to me, very careful with our belongings, the pricing is competitive but the service was outstanding.

It is obvious why this company only has one star. If I could give it 0 stars I would. I entered an online quote for a move on Wednesday. I received an email quote from Tom Parcells. But I spoke with Marcus before I had received the email. I shared all of the details with Marcus but when I called back on Thursday to set it up, I didnt realize that Tom was the one who had sent the email but who I didnt talk to. I went ahead and scheduled the move for today. Tom asked me for my credit card but didnt take any further details from me. I asked for an afternoon appointment and he said that he would send me the time in an email along with the price of the move when he had a chance. Tom said his guys would finish a job in the morning and call me when they were on their way. On Saturday, I called at 3:30 pm to find out if they had an approximate time they would finish their first job. He said it would be approximately 445pm or 5pm and then they would give me a call. I told him that we live almost an hour away from the storage unit and that it would be nice to know that it would have been almost evening before our move would be started. He started telling me sob story of the move prior to ours but that is not my problem. I told him that it would have been nice to have had a phone call around 12 noon or even 2 or 3 pm that they encountered problems at the first site. I told him that I was concerned about the movers moving the treadmill around to our basement entrance and he said that he didnt want to endanger his movers and put them at risk. I told him that I had emailed him that the movers would have to go around back to move the treadmill and that there was grass. He was argumentative and said that he could not control the rain and apparently didnt put the two together that if there is grass and it rains alot that it could be muddy. So because I didnt specifically say there could be rain and mud and that I didnt give him the weather forecast, he didnt want his movers getting hurt and suggested that I cancel the move. After he hung up with me when I said let’s cancel, I called him back and asked for a written cancellation and an email saying that I would not be charged the deposit.

I called directory assistance for another company’s number, and was given their number by mistake, (or perhaps they are the same company as AAA movers). The guys were very slow and frequently took breaks. One spent almost an hour in the bathroom and I got charged for the time. They took twice as long to move my furniture out of the storage locker into an apartment than another company took to wrap my furniture and move it to the locker.
They were very rough with the furniture, even the lady at the storage company mentioned it. I was told that I had 3 guys at $ 125 per hour, but at hour 6 they started to charge overtime. They charged a huge amount for fuel.
In fairness, there was one Latino man who worked very hard. I hope he finds a job with a more reputable company.

Room mate moved out and hired these people. They started out fast but ¹⁄₁₂ hours into the move they came to a crawl. I asked one of the movers to not drag furniture across the floor. Later I heard what sounded like large metal objects being dragged. Later I looked in the office and saw that my brand new wood floors were scratched up really bad. Later in the move that drove across the yard. They parked it in the yard and chewed up the ground pretty badly. I called to talk with Tom and all he does is hang up the phone. I would steer clear of these people. Also, be aware that the cost didn’t match up with the price quoted. Not trustable.

First off, we hired this company because I saw the BBB emblem on their website. I find out now they are not with the BBB.
There was multiple problems and I will list them below but they problem I was writing about is the movers broke my stone cocktail table. The movers told us when it happened, took photos with their phone cameras and contacted there boss immediately. We called the company about it the following day where the employee told us «you should have called yesterday.» I explained we were in the process of moving and the workers did not leave until 5:30 and we wanted to contact Havertys Furniture about the price of the piece of furniture first. The company said they would email a form that needed to be filled out. The email never arrived even after multiple calls. I ended up calling and and was told they already mailed a check to us. That check never arrived. The table alone was about $ 350. The part that was broken was about $ 30 and the hardware is about $ 15. All we were asking was for the $ 30 and I even said I would install the part myself.
Other problems with this TERRIBLE company:
–The workers arrived unprepared. They asked for knives and scissors to cut the tape and boxes.
— Once arrived to the new house on post, before unloading I had to sign the paperwork. I ended up paying an extra hour by them doing this.

The movers broke some of our lamps. When they saw it, they just threw them away. We only found it out after we gave them a quite generous tip.
The company charged a lot more than they originally estimated for us. It was a complete ripoff.
