Blade Runners

I needed to post another review for this company, for the recent 24−30″ of snow. we use them at our HOA and they are the company where I have a rental property. In comparison, I do not think the recent reviews are fair. This snow was out of control, I saw them visit the property many time… and was receiving email alerts /​updates.
I just had to say in comparison to the other property I live by and have rentals in, there service was comparable and was happy with what they did and the leave of communication and replies to emails when we had questions.

Our community renegotiated our contract with them for snow removal after the 2010 blizzard that his us. This past weekend with 24″ of snow in our area, they «claim» to have come out several times during Friday/​Saturday and plowed our area. This is a total lie as everybody in our community was home and nobody saw them at any of the times they said they plowed. After that, they said they do not own any bobcats or heavy equipment for Snow Removal. Which is what we paid them for. Their answer «we are not going to purchase 40 bobcats on the chance that we will have 2ft of snow again, and the rest of the time they just take up space». Well here’s a suggestion, don’t offer something on your web page if you’re not able to fulfill your contract. We were finally dug out last night around 6pm but there are still other members in our community that still haven’t seen a plow since Friday. If I didn’t think I would lose even more money I would take them to court since I was blocked in for several days and lost wages. I know that our management company has fired them for breach of contract, and I’m hoping other communities are doing the same. If you know NOTHING about business today, you don’t screw the customers when your unethical business traits can be posted for others to see.

Blade Runners completely screwed the pooch for the recent snow storm in January 2016.
Instead of removing the snow, they piled up an ice barrier five feet high, blocking in six to eight cars at each end of the parking lot. Then, they were unreachable by email or telephone, and did not stand by their commitment to remove it in a reasonable time.
Landscaping and other services have been mediocre at best. Often not one English-​speaking employee on the crew, so directions, such as «Don’t remove that tree,» or «Leave the shrub alone,» have gone unheeded.
I’ll be lobbying our HOA to ditch this zero satisfaction company in favor of one more professional and reliable. I can think of thirteen or so other residents who are likely to join me.
If you’re shopping for a landscaping or snow removal company — Stay Away. Blade Runners is a take your money and run operation.

Blade Runners are in the business of ripping of people and especially property mgmt companies. I am not sure how, but they received a $ 100K+ bid on our Neighborhood for Snow removal. It seems that they have gotten the bids at other various places as well. This of course resulted in them NOT cleaning ANYTHING for 4 days after 30″ of snow. They are not responding to peoples calls and quiet frankly not giving a damn since they are already paid.
Blade Runners are basically con artists who rip off people. DO NOT USE and DO NOT FALL for their BS.

One of the most unethical company I’ve ever seen before. Their staff is very unprofessional and owner of the company is the worst. This company is past garbage. One of their drivers (David Brown) hit my car last Thursday. At that time David was driving without a license and also insurance. He had to call one of his work buddies to get the insurance information. Not until I tried to file a claim with their insurance company because my insurance company said I’m not at fault. I find out that they haven’t been insured with them since 2010. 5 years ago. After a day of diging, my insurance company finds out who their actual insurance company is and so we file a claim. But due to the damages not being over a certain amount the officer couldn’t make a report and now their insurance company has to speak to them and verify the vehicle that was involved. After 6 days of trying to reach them. Their insurance and company haven’t had a reply yet. I went to their office and spoke to the owner. After telling me «I’ll call them when ever I feel like it» he kicked me out of his office. I will be filing a report with BBB and small claims court and go forward with that.

I just found out that Blade Runners was contracted by our Condo Management Company, First Service Residential, to clear the snow from our parking area, Lake Ridge Pointe Condominiums, in Lake Ridge, Virginia. I was told that an initial pass was to be done to assess the severity of snow fall and then the snow removal will follow. I was told by several that a truck came by, Friday evening (¹⁄₂₂), as the storm was commencing. Unfortunately, that was an inopportune time to make any assessment, as the storm’s worst happened overnight. The best assessment should have taken place Saturday (¹⁄₂₃), before or after the blizzard (before the blizzard there was already 18 to 21 inches on the ground). Today, Monday, January 25^th, our Condo development still has mountains of snow, as each of us has tried to dig ourselves out to return to work today, we still have not seen a single snow plow. I hope they have a front loader and a big dump truck to haul our snow away. I have had to call out from work because there was really no where to go, even though my car is clean and ready. My time is money too! I don’t think this company is reliable or able to handle the amount of work they may have contracted themselves out to the community.

Blade Runners failed spectacularly in removing any of the snow from our townhouse community in Arlington. They failed to shovel walkways as contracted, so we were forced to do it ourselves. Late Sunday night they finally sent a Ford F150 pickup to plow more than 2 feet of snow. The truck couldn’t push the snow out of the way, so it just kept driving over it to pack it down. The truck did manage to block in my neighbors and me behind 2 – 6 foot walls of snow. We have been digging out all day, and are still barely making a dent due to the packed down snow. They still have yet to respond to multiple requests from our management company and neighbors to send more trucks to help. Cannot recommend them for snow removal given that they had a week to prepare for this event, and were still woefully unprepared.

I have recently had some work done on my individual unit… I contacted Blade Runners as they do the main work for my community. They do the mowing, mulching etc and take care of trees as well.
I just needed some plants that were planted here trimmed, I think they had been in for many many years. The rep came and met with me and told me what they could and couldn’t do. they warned me that it would be a major reduction and to be prepared. I agreed and went with the cheaper option and they trimmed the plants the following week. They were right it was really different and I don’t like the trimmed look, and I should have listened and had them removed and replaced the first time. I emailed again and told them I would like them removed and replaced. They gave me a great cost to remove (I think they felt bad since they were just trimmed) and plant new!
All this is now done and it looks great, amazing what you can do with a little space and with someone that acts like they care. Very happy with them…
I shared my thoughts with my community board and they expressed the same as they do all the work for my HOA, they mow, trim, edge. prune and mulch as well as snow. Our HOA board said they planned to renew with Blade Runners again.
It makes me happy to find a local company that cares enough to help and in tied to our HOA where I feel that if something goes wrong they have the invested interest to help me the individual home owner.

Blade Runners does all the landscaping in my neighborhood and always do an excellent job ! The workers are all very polite and never inconvenience us. Definitely recommend!

Blade Runners brought beauty back to my front yard. Re-​sculpting and mulching my flowers beds after a winter beat-​down, creating color combinations of plants and flowers that complimented the hues of the bricks and shutters – I was proud to present such a lovely picture for my neighbors to enjoy.
We also had to have a tree removed. The stump was ground down completely and professionally, the spot was re-​sodded and voila! It was as if the tree had never been there.
Competitive, reasonable pricing, courteous professionals who pay attention to what the customer desires – this is what I look for in a landscape maintenance company.
I highly recommend Blade Runners to all my friends.

We have been in our house about 10 years and as our trees matured they were causing big problems in our backyard. We kept putting off doing something because we liked our trees very much.
We finally decided to have it taken care of last year. We had a few companies come by to give an estimate. We decided to go with Blade Runners because their design was the only one that allowed us to keep our trees. They truly listened to our wants and were very professional.
The work was done on schedule and at the price initially quoted. Great customer service and follow up skills.
Would highly recommend Blade Runners.

We had a huge tree (which I don’t know the name of) in our backyard and it grows beyond the entire yard. I called Blade runners and they gave us a bid that was lower than three other companies I called. Their proposal look very professional, so is their work. They spent three days cutting the trees and make sure everything is safe and the tree look perfect after it is done. My wife and I are so happy with a cleaner and better looking tree!
I saw there are other negative comments about the customer service but I didn’t meet any problems by myself. I would 100% recommend these guys for any tree work.

In my opinion, this is a terrible and very irresponsible company.
It was hired to clean up our community grounds and they do more than a TERRIBLE job!!!
Their workers are stepping onto other home owners’ properties, flower beds and lawns and have killed many of my plants, while all they had to do was to blow the leafs off the parking lot and streets.
Every single time they come out here to clean up the parking lot & street, they blow all the dirt + leafs from the parking lot onto my lawn (to leave it there!) — They also blew off all my mulch off my flower beds (WHO does that??!). I will now have to replace all my mulch, hoping that it will stay where it’s supposed to be!
And who will compensate me for that?
In ADDITION to that, they do not clean up after done blowing the dirt around.
Instead they blow the dirt with the trash that has collected into the surrounding bushes, (plastic, cigarette butts and paper included).
Luckily I have proof of that via video (which I made just a few days ago while they were screwing everything up out there).
I’ve tried to talk to the workers already a few months back, I’ve called our NRP and they promised they would resolve the issue, but nothing has changed.
I am so angry that I will call the police the next time they step onto my grounds. I will also report this company to our city, because they are blowing the dirt/​leafs/​plastic/​paper into the bushes of our golf course here, and I’m sure that is considered as littering.

This company hires people who don’t seem to be trained at all and who did not understand a word when I tried to talk to them (about what they were doing wrong).
In addition to that they don’t respond to any complaint and do things that I find to be questionable.
STAY AWAY from this business.

They have done a fantastic job in our community. They make the neighborhood look so polished, alive and green. The workers have always been professional, hardworking, and courteous. I am always impressed by the care and detail in their work. I highly recommend this business because I have seen the work they do. They have made such improvements in our neighborhood. It increases my enjoyment in living here and our property values.

Wow, another year that they trimmed hostas that were just about to bloom, not forgetting the potted pansies! Every year and they react in the same way to this complaint as other reviewers have stated; misdirection, obfusaction and denial. These people are experts at denying! My hostas were fine when I left at 7:00am and when I came back to weed wackers and blowers my plants had been bizarrely trimmed. An area that had no grass just hostas and mulch surrounding had been wacked. I called the company and their first response was a well rehearsed «we don’t really know what happened.» I live in a townhouse and the association hires these people, otherwise I would never be use this company. Bizarre service… who trims perennial plants like this? Avoid if you can!

I don’t Unilocal much but I when I get excellent service, pricing and follow-​up, it needs to be noted. I have lived in several communities over the last ten years where Blade Runners does the maintenance work. Always, their crews are fast, efficient and careful. I can’t speak to the cost for the HOA service but I can to their pricing for landscape work at my home and no one can touch them. I have had trees removed, I had flower beds installed, retaining walls built and all have been the lowest cost and the best quality. I did have an issue where (possibly) a limb from one of the trees they removed fell on my neighbors shed. Neighbor complained to me and within 24 hours, BL’s manager had solved the issue by repairing the shed, no questions asked. I have interfaced with most all of Blade Runner’s staff and have had nothing but professional, courteous and pleasant encounters. I would recommend Blade Runners to anyone who needs a one time cutting or a major contract. They do it all and they do it well.

I hope this review will sensitize Blade Runners to the fact that blowing leaves off of a neighbor’s roof, gutters and yard for more than an hour with leaf blowers that sound like they are cutting down a tree inside my house should not be happening at 8 am on a Saturday morning. Waiting until 9am would have shown greater courtesy so that some of us could sleep in. I’m still waiting to see whether they will actually clean up all the leaves they blew into the street that will block the gutter in the next rain storm.
I’ll ditto the negative stars…

If there were an option for negative stars, this company deserves it. With extreme displeasure, I report that Blade «Butchers» has continued to hack away at my morning glory plants again this year. TWICE ALREADY THIS SUMMER! I’ve absolutely had it with them.
Today, their crew came by to do the landscaping and once again, my once beautiful flowering vine which had climbed to the top of the light pole was destroyed. All the flowers cut off around the entire vine, now depleted of all blossoms, it sank to the bottom of the pole in a heap of worthless, unsightly, flowerless, disconnected vines.
I repeat, this is no deer! I vouch my well-​earned Unilocal Elite status on it!
The company’s excuses about «sensitivity to residents’ needs» is a crock of B.S. They did absolutely nothing to rectify this with me, only made outlandish excuses, and with it now having happened two years in a row to my flowers, I will be spreading the word about their disservice to everyone I know (Yes, and I mean everyone!) and resubmit my complaint to the HOA cluster.
Last year, in addition to the owner’s pathetic excuse about deer, his other excuse was that their crew had been confused about where the garden started and where the lawn surrounding it ended. This year, I not only put large rocks around the light pole but even a small wire gate around the edge of the bottom of the morning glory to shield it and make it blatantly obvious.
Despite all of this, their crew must find it a funny joke to continue destroying this. Its quite obvious this is no weed but a flowering plant on my property. I can’t emphasize enough how frustrating it is to come home each night and have to see the destruction caused by Blade Runners. Please do not use this company!

Blade runners takes care of the grounds for an office building I own in Farifax Va. After having bad experainces with other landscaping companies. It was refreshing to find a company that does good work and a reasonable cost. I can trust what they are doing.
This is a good company to use.

Fun times trying to get your weeds pulled and treated.
I first contacted Blade Runners in April to take care of the weeds on my property after having the winter blissfully deposits seeds and having spring rain ensure that Sherwood Forest would sprout up from the soil. Of course, it was bad for the dog since he would go and eat the weeds and get sick.
So on Tuesday, April 28, I faxed in the forms that their receptionist, Tatiana, sent to me. After a couple of phone calls and emails during the week, I was told that their folks had already gone out to the property to survey what needed to be done and they would get back to me.
Fast forward to the next week and a few overcast/​sunny days in between. I ended up receiving an email from their guy, Peter, on Wednesday, May 6^th asking me what the issue was since had a note on his desk to call me and didn’t have recollection of what the issue was. So I sent him an email back explaining that it was to get the estimate for the spring clean up package ($ 100) and what it would cost for a weed treatment (no estimate provided). I got no reply.
So finally, I call the office again on Friday, May 8^th around lunch and told them that if I didn’t get a call from Peter to explain what needed to be done by that afternoon, I would cancel the job. Of course, Tatiana said she would pass the message. No phone call.
So after 3 hours, I finally got tired of it, went to Home Depot and got the mulch and a couple of hired hands to help me with the work. Of course, when I show up to the house, a guy shows up in a Blade Runners truck to start working on another property. As he approaches me, he tells me that he came out to perform the work — I told him it was too late since I didn’t get the phone call back that I wanted and better luck next year when I need service.
After trading a few more emails that afternoon with Tatiana, I found that there apparently was some miscommunication going on. The owner, Eric, called me and left a message informing me that they sent someone out after I called and told them I would cancel if no one went out (they told me someone would be there Saturday but that’s beside the point) but then I refused the work. So to him, after getting the estimate and making a «good faith» effort to perform the work, they felt they were still owed something for the work.
WRONG.
I called him back today to explain to him what I said and he, of course, sided with him employees (what a good boss, right?). Well, here’s a snippet of the conversations:
Eric: (Irritated) I guess we’ll just have to let this go.
Me: Well, sorry. Maybe next time. Thanks. Goo—
Eric: *hangs up the phone*
Well, Eric, congratulations, you just earned your first review and it was a one-​star. Oh, and never mind the fact that you’re our yard service for the common areas who leaves grass clippings in the gutters, on the side walks, and allows our grass to get up to six inches before cutting it.
Unilocalers, steer clear of these guys. I guess once you get to being an established service, you think that you can jerk your customers around and forget courtesies. I’ll stick with our neighborhood kid who faithfully cuts my grass every Sunday for $ 50 a month. You @$$holes can just pound sand.
