I have gone here twice now and the food is really good. Not all barbecue is created equally. All of the meat here is really tender and their baked beans and other sides are what I really like. It’s just a low-key relaxing place to get barbecue. I noticed that they were not on Unilocal when I was looking for their hours, so I added the business. I hope this business does well because it is so difficult to find good barbecue. None of the chain restaurants do it all that great. It’s sort of like a lost art to make good barbecue like brisket, sausage and pork shoulder. I’m a real fan of their baked beans. They have a few different types of beans but the ones I like are more sweet and flavor. The prices are very fair for what you get.

Very friendly atmosphere and helpful. Good sized portions of brisket cooked perfectly! Great smoke ring. Recommend the baked beans. Would have been nice if they threw the Rollin the oven for a hot minute. Overall a great experience.

I have to say we were a bit disappointed trying out the food. On a good note the Polish sausage was very tasty and baked potatoe was very good. That is were it ends, we asked if the full rack was baby back ribs, told yes, and they were not. Coleslaw only ok, missing vinegar. Were out of corn for the plate, did not have the Kevy beans I had read about. Settled for the BBQ Beans and they were nothing to write home about. The sauerkraut needed to be cooked longer so it can caramelize and brings out the flavor more. All in all not worth going back unless just to have a sandwich. The individual working to take orders need a to step their game and know their products.

So, pulled pork and the tri-tip sandwich was good. The meat was tender, fries were good. Nothing to write home about. But not bad.

What the heck is going on in Rocklin, there are soooo many BBQ joints popping up. Located right next to Sierra College Heavy Kevy’s has a lot to offer. We ordered the 3 meat family meal togo. The family meals come in all sorts of sizes ranging from 2 meats to 5 or 6 with the price increasing accordingly. The 3 meat family meals comes with choice of any 3 meats: pork ribs, brisket, chicken, tri tip, hot links and I think pulled pork. You also get 4 sides and 4 drinks all for $ 39.99 We choose: Brisket: 8 ounces of long slices of fatty brisket. We like our brisket fatty because otherwise it is just to dry. The brisket had great smokey flavor. Tri Tip: Wow, super smokey and tender great tri tip Pork Ribs: baby backs slathered in a sweet tangy sauce decent but not great. For our sides we got the famous Kevy baked beans which tastes more like chili than baked beans. Macaroni salad and french fries all the sides were average. The hits for us here at Heavy Kevy’s were the brisket and tri tip. Like all BBQ joints the Family Meals are always the best value so order more than you need and take some home for later :) Heavy Kevy’s also has a decent amount of indoor seating something you don’t always see in a BBQ joint.

Pulled pork sandwich. This place is amazing. I don’t know why it’s not packed. What’s wrong with people in Rocklin? Good BBQ is so hard to come by in the bay and this guy has it down. Not to sweet and not too tangy just right on the money!!! Ithe setup this guy has is great and will get you in and out with freshness.

DISAPPOINTINGEXPERIENCE! We decided to try it out due to all those 5-star reviews. And quite frankly, I have no idea how those many customers ranked this place that high. OK, here’s my take. Food quality: 1⁄5 — Way bellow our expectation. We ordered the 4-rib and tri-tip lunch combo with salad, onion rings, and macaroni salad. The salad were OK, everything else were disappointing. My ribs were extremely dry. Some of the meat were even crunchy, I don’t think they’re suppose to be crunchy. They smothered the poor thing with sauce in an effort to make them taste good, but they failed miserably. The tri-tip were semi-moist but tasted wrong. Both the macaroni salad and onion rings tasted wrong too. OK, the soda was great. Price: 2⁄5 — We paid $ 21 something(not including tip). It’s not that expensive but it’s definitely not cheap for the quality of the food we got. Service: 5⁄5 — OK, service was outstanding Restaurant atmosphere: 5⁄5 — The place is clean and well lighted. Plenty of parking too. Like I said earlier, we were disappointed because we had high expectations from this place because, again, of those high marks from other Unilocalers. But based on our experience, we definitely are not going back. Of course, everything that I have written are solely based on my personal experience and are solely my own opinion.

SOGOOD! I’m picky and this place has the best BBQ that I’ve had in NorCal. The smoked chicken breast was really tasty and their BBQ sauce has a spicy kick that is addicting. Even their side salads and beans were great. They have $ 5 specials and the meals are reasonably priced. The family is friendly– I definitely want to support this family-run joint. I’m hoping they add a few southern desserts like sweet potato pie and cobbler. They’ve only been open for 2 months and I’m glad I found them. You can also buy smoked meat by the pound to go.

After getting a haircut next door, I decided to try Heavy Kevy’s for dinner. I had read the great Unilocal reviews and was really hoping this would be my new favorite place for bbq. And the prices seemed great. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich and the Kevy beans. The quantity of tri-tip in the sandwich was disappointing — VERY small portion of meat. Why can nobody replicate the $ 9 tri-tip sandwich at Firestone in SLO??? The Kevy beans had only one element — a smoky flavor — that’s it. I’ll be going to Dobson’s or Dickeys for my BBQ fix. I can’t help but wonder if these 5 star reviews are from the owner’s friends.

Nice family-run place here locally, with delicious bbq sandwiches. We tried the beef brisket, tri tip, polish dog, and pulled pork. All were excellent, though the pork is dry style, which some do not prefer. The bbq sauce is tasty and makes the pork juicy if that’s what you want. I like how the owner/chef comes out to serve you and the whole family makes sure you have what you need. For an extra $ 1 you get a nice bowl of green salad or cole slaw/potato salad AND a drink. You should try it. Beats dickeys, and you support your local economy.

Good ribs! Very casual family owned BBQ joint. Ribs are good — not the best, but certainly the best in Rocklin! We got one order with sauce on side and one on the ribs — preferred on the side. Tri tip flavor was excellent. Kevy’s beans are delicious. I would do without the potato salad. Only suggestion is to add some veggies to the sides menu like greens or green beans. Owner was super nice.

Came in here because it smelled so good. My family pretty much order everything off the menu. We love bbq! I love how they don’t drown the meat in sauce. I like the taste of good meat and less sauce. The flavors were perfect. Please get the beans! I am so happy that we found this place. It beats Lucilles bbq!

Just had dinner at H-K BBQ and loved it. Both my partner and I had the pulled pork combo. What a great value. We got nice sized sandwiches, a side, and beverage for around 9 bucks. What’s important to say here is that my partner is from Memphis and grew up on BBQ, so he has high standards. He really liked the pork. So, did I! My only criticisms(and certainly not enough to take away a star) are these: I wish they had more traditional sides like greens or mac & cheese. I also would like the pork to come without the barbecue sauce already on it. I like a little less sauce. But, I was really pleased with the food regardless. The service was excellent. It’s a family run operation, and it’s really cool to see that. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, but the place has a certain charm. I know we will be back.

Having lived in the Kansas City area and also spent considerable time in St Louis, I’ve had the pleasure of chowing on some of the finest BBQ in the country if not the universe. Consequently, I’m constantly combing the streetscape for quality BBQ and considersider myself a «BBQ Snob.» There are so many places that seem appetizing at first, but ultimately end in dissappointment. Heavy Kevy’s is not, without doubt, one of those places. Kevy’s food, in short, is fantastic. The meats are smoked to perfection and sauce quite tasty. We had a whole slew of itmes on the table: babyback ribs, spare ribs, tri-tip, pulled pork and baked beans(Kevy Beans). All was great. Put the Kevy Beans on your«gotta try» list as they were extraordinary and nicely different from the beans at most other BBQ places. When it comes to ribs, I’m usually a baby back guy but totally loved the spare ribs. Kevy and crew offered great food, great service and also great pricing. My crew of five totally enjoyed our dinner there, and look forward to getting back again.

I just moved into the area, and was looking for a good, reasonably priced place to eat. I found it. GREAT food, at low prices. I was actually surprised at how low the cost of my dinner was, considering the amount of food that I got. I most definitely *will* be back.

Customer Service — 2⁄2 Food Quality — 2⁄2 Atmosphere — 1⁄1 Total — 5⁄5 We went back over the weekend to try some other stuff. We ordered the Tri Tip sandwich combo that came with a drink and a side of chili. The tri tip was delicious and will be a staple as we keep coming back. The flavor was rich and had depth and it wasn’t over sauced so you could enjoy the flavor of the meat and still get the sweet tang of the sauce. It doesn’t get better than that. The chili was also tasty. My wife was talking about how great the chili was and that she rarely gets chili made like it was made. She was ready to order a huge bowl to go. The place was clean and well kept. I rated 5 stars last time, I have to again. The sign of a great restaurant is not just the first impression but the ongoing consistency and deliciousness of the food.

A new BBQ joint in Rocklin is always welcome. I have only had the pulled pork sandwich and am already a fan. Can’t wait for my next visit. Bbq sauce is hickory style, not too sweet. I like my pulled pork dry and they were happy to comply. Then I can add sauce as I like. Gotta try Heavy Kevs beans, meal in itself.

I ordered bbq chicken sandwich, tri– tip sandwich and it came with a soda and bbq beef chili as a side Pros: Great value! Not as expensive as other bbq spots Super clean dining room Very courteous and friendly staff Not too long of a wait They have a tv with sports playing Cons: Beef brisket sandwich was a little dry. But still enjoyable Id like to see a Unilocal check-in promo or frequent buyer card! Overall i highly recommend you try this spot. Great for family and groups They accept credit card and cash
