Do we meet the pending qualifications for State Certified Instructors for IL Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) Permit? The pending legislation states one of the valid firearms instructor certification options to be «certification from an entity approved by the Department that offers firearm instructor education and training in the use and safety of firearms.» That certainly describes the NRA, but it is up to the Department of State Police to make the formal approval.

History

Established in 2013.

After years of waiting, Illinois became the last state in the nation to allow Concealed Carry. This created an overwhelming amount of pent up demand by law-​abiding citizens. 2^nd Amendment Defense Inc. was created to respond to the needs of those individuals with the desire to exercise their newly expanded rights. We realize that Concealed Carry will be scrutinized under a microscope by those who appose that right. That, the safety of our patrons and the safety of the general public are some of the reasons we determined a responsible company needed to be established. Our focus on knowledge of gun handling and gun laws, and safe storage and handing of guns sets us apart from those who merely desire to see well-​equipped citizens.

Business Owner

A self-​described «plinker» (informal training and target shooting for fun rather than competition) for many years, Brian took his first NRA class primarily as a way to get his wife to receive formal training. The revelations during that class and from the training that followed, combined with the changes to state law to allow concealed carry, created several A-​Ha moments set this latest venture in motion. Brian is a lifetime resident of Rockford. He received his Small Business Administration degree from Rock Valley College and owned and operated a limousine company locally for several years. Always an entrepreneur at heart, this latest project is sure to have a positive and meaningful impact to the community.
