I’m new to cycling and I’m approaching this review as a consumer/customer. Yes, the owner is chatty. However, I haven’t been disappointed yet with the quality of service I have received from College Cycles. The owner has answered my newbie questions patiently and with grace. He’s not snobby or condescending, which I have seen from other cycling enthusiasts and shops. I realize some folks are put off by the owner’s verbosity, but you can tell he loves his jobs and loves interacting with his customers. I’ll take that over rude or haughty behavior any day of the week.

My wife consigned a bike through the human chatter box here. Whenever she called to check on it, she could never get an answer. He said he’d list it for $ 250 and they keep 25 percent. Told us if we sold on craigslist we would probably only get $ 100. Nine months later we finally go in to ask about it and it had sold… months before and they had just never called. Only gave us $ 115…multiple trips, calls, and exhausting conversation for an extra $ 15 bucks? No thank you. Two stars because he does seem to actually know what he’s talking about… experience as a buyer may be different

The owner does like to hear himself talk but he fixed my boys bikes in an afternoon. The work was great and he didn’t overcharge me.

While the owner has, in the past, tended to be a bit of a rambler, I have never known him or anyone else that works for him not give me great service or be intentionally underhanded in their performance or pricing. They are a little pricey but it’s a small business so that’s expected. They have always called and followed up with me about whatever I have needed.

I was selling my Bianchi and had to dismantle it and ship it to California so I took it here. The first reason you should never shop here is because this guy has poor time-management. He told me he could do it in 3 days. It took him 2 weeks, which brings me to reason number two why no one should ever do business with this guy, lack of follow-up. he never called me to update me on how lomg it was going to take or the progress made. i had to drive down there to check up on him several times. reason number 3, he talks your ear off about stuff that does not pertain to the mission at hand. i do not need to hear about his exes or anything else going on in his life. now reason number 4, and this really should be number 1. he stripped my crank shaft. i babied this bike when i had it. i got a message this morning from the buyer that it is indeed stripped and that it cost them $ 130 to fix!!! this guy lost me money by not following through with what he said he would do and he damaged my bike. NEVERDOBUSINESSWITHTHISGUY.
