History

Established in 1960.

Parkleigh, Rochester’s favorite gift shop, is considered a «landmark» and a must-​see for visitors. Located on Park Avenue in the heart of the cultural district for over 50 years, Parkleigh has many times been voted «Best Place to Find a Unique Gift.» Once a grocery store, and later a pharmacy, the building Parkleigh calls it’s home has seen many incarnations. In the 1970’s Parkleigh Pharmacy envisioned new ideas in merchandising unusual products and began carrying cutting edge items that were fashionable, trendy and fun. The selection of items grew to house ten distinct departments throughout the store which eventually led to saying good-​bye to the pharmacy in the late 1980’s. Perfect place to find someone (more for females) a card, buy some chocolate, or browse other selections for gifts! Great variety and always updating their merchandise to fit the season.
Can be expensive but this is my go-​to place to browse for gifts!

I was at Parkleigh on Saturday for Shop Local Saturday working on my holiday giving list. I found Thymes lotions for my mom, herbal tea for my MIL, local Keuka Coffee Roasters coffee and a locally made soup mix for my FIL, and a cool adult coloring book for my sister. Parkleigh has a great assortment of products. They gift wrapped all of my purchases and gave me free Vera Bradley perfume samples. They also had a person outside directly the parking which was nice because parking can be tough there. I would recommend Parkleigh if you are looking for interesting gifts to give this holiday season.

I’ve been here enough times and I thought in all honesty I wrote a review. My mistake… Ok I found this place when we were here on a visit in November 2014. I thought it was great. Lots of fabulous greeting cards for ALL OCCASIONS NO JOKE! Candles, all sorts of lotions and potions. Mugs, Coffee, cookbooks, jewelry, handbags, candy… Ornaments OMG so much stuff and they also opened a «part two» across the street. I’m lucky to have this place in walking distance. If I need a card, small gift or whatever they will pretty much have it. Lovely locally made things with other things. If you can’t find something here you are pretty silly. Granted certain things are a little pricy but somethings are just perfect. Join their list and they will email you their monthly schedule and you get discounts too. Go visit and support local!

I stop by Parkleigh every time I’m in Rochester. When it comes to cards, candies and a unique variety of gifts Parkleigh can’t be beat. It’s also clean with everything arrange in good order, just perfect for browsing out gift items. Their gift items extend from the useful to the novelty, and just browsing them out can be enjoyable. The staff is also very good, up to date and informative about everything, so if you have a question, need some help or want some good suggestion on what to purchase, all you need do is ask.
I managed to find some various kitchen items for gifts which were not only of top quality but of a unique type and design I had never seen before and have never seen since. Indeed, Parkleigh seems to specialize in having items you won’t find elsewhere.

Fantastic boutique with a lot of fun and unique products. They are a little pricey but they have a lot of different products and some stuff you can’t get anywhere else.
They used to have terrible customer service — very snooty and rude — but they have definitely improved over the past few years and now nearly everyone that works there is friendly and helpful.
Go when you have the time to explore each different section of the store. Their store is laid out based on their merchandise so it’s like several mini-​stores all in one.

I like Parkleigh. I don’t LOVE it, but it’s a great little gift shop, and has been on the corner of Park and Goodman for as long as I can remember — I even remember my mom talking about how she and her coworkers would walk from Genesee Hospital on their lunch breaks back in the 90s when she moved here. Definitely a Park Ave mainstay.
I usually come here for their chocolate/​candy selection, as they have several different local options as well as Godiva, etc. Saves me from making a separate trip to Hedonist, which is helpful. I love that I can find Kiehl’s products here as well.
They have a mix of fun, funky gifts, joke gifts, pottery, coffee and specialty food items, and a pretty large jewelry/women’s accessories selection. They definitely cater towards a female clientele, and some of their offerings are definitely overpriced.
The staff I’ve encountered is pleasant, but you usually need to approach them for assistance, not vice versa. I’ve picked up good stuff here over the years, and the unique cards and chocolates keep me coming back. Definitely stop in if you’re in the area!

It’s always fun to poke through Parkleigh and check out the stuff they’re carrying. Lots of awesome, kitschy stuff that you definitely don’t need but totally want. There’s usually yummy coffee to sample in the back! Prices are a little high for some of their items ($ 12 for novelty socks? Kthanks, going to Target, bye), but it’s definitely fun to browse! They have great, cute chocolates too.
Careful visiting this store during holiday season. You’re taking your life into your own hands!

I really like this store! so many unique gifts to choose from. The store is very well organized and put together. I love how they gift wrap items free of charge it adds a nice touch and saves some money. The employees are also very polite and helpful. The thing that bothers me are the prices some times are just so expensive. Also since the last time I was here they have updated the place with so many gay pride items it’s over bearing. Maybe pump the brakes a little and possibly offer a wider variety of less expensive items like a $ 10 and below section. All in all a great place to go Christmas shopping!

Great place for card shopping and a nice selection of high end chocolates. Some fun, goofy gift items here but I liked it better when they had more of this and less of the clothing, handbags, etc. This place is now more geared to the female shopper.

My spot for fun and creative Xmas gifts. I can realistically find presents in this store for everyone in my family, even the difficult ones to buy for. The candy counter is splendid and gazing at the chocolates behind glass are the frosting on top of this cake. Twin cherries gummies were introduced into my brother in law via Parkleigh, he who now is an addict of them thanks to me. When I am in town and want to splurge on myself they never let me down here. From the creative kitchen gadgets to the blingy jewelry and delicious tea tastings they have I’m in heaven on Park Ave when I visit here. This store dishes out all the variety I crave when I stroll through the door. A trip here is worth the plesent surprises you will find.

Guys, be ready to never see your wife/​girlfriend ever again. there’s all sorts of great stuff in here, FOR THEM. That’s my main problem with it, if I don’t want chocolate there’s not much here for guys. And I do get I’m not their target audience. Also, parking is a chore, but I don’t need to tell anyone that.

Rochester’s go-​to gift shop.
Every town has their unique gift shop that hosts a conglomerate of the cutest, weirdest, and most useless items to buy for your loved ones. It was no surprise the store was bustling with Christmas fever a few days before gift-​giving. Like everyone else, I wandered in for a few last minute ideas.
Parkleigh’s strong suit isn’t price but rather selection. Chocolates, purses, fragrances, toys, furniture, kitchen appliances, cute cards, cultural items, music: they have literally every type of gift out there. It was hard making a decision, but I finally made up my mind and got out of there.
It doesn’t hurt that the staff is delightfully cheerful. Despite the stress in the air and the long checkout line, the cashiers were so friendly, patient, and put me at ease as I was freaking out over my long to-​do list before the holiday. Check it out on your next walk down Park Ave.

How in the world did I not ever visited this place before?
The ultimate Gift Shop and spoiling one self store! I was really impressed with the stationary selection and novelty items. They seem to carry a lot of themes, many are humorous. I suggest that you shop for your boss or coworker with ease on any budget. There is always something that will put a smile to any face!
I really loved the novelty items in the back for dining and kitchen ware. I am a fan of Fred products both for personal use and gifting. I tend to stick to stores like Home Goods for these and was surprised, and yet not, to see they were carried here. Naturally I was very giddy!
For some reason I always thought of this place to be more of a mature nature. I am so happy to be proven so wrong. For goodness sakes, they carry Poo-​Pourri! I thought this stuff was a myth! SRSLY, there are a few pple in my office building that can benefit from this.
Skip the mall. Forget Barnes & Noble. Get your gifts here!

I come in here all the time for GIFTS.
They’ve got great:
CARDS both serious and funny
CHOCOLATE some locally made like Hedonist and some globally made like Moe’s and Godiva
ACCESSORIES they have really reasonably priced scarves, slippers, and headbands.
They have a food/​kitchen wing of the store that often has samples and demos
They don’t have too much in the gifts for dudes department.
They carry an excessive amount of Vera Bradley which I can’t afford anyway.

No matter how many times I go into this store I consistently find new things that I have never seen before. It is almost like it is several small stores inside of one store. They always have someone giving samples of coffee, candy, or really anything they sell in the store. If you need to pick up a card and don’t want the standard run of the mill Wal-​Mart card this is definitely the place to go. They have all sorts of different little gifts that I haven’t seen anyplace else.
The coffee selection is amazing, so many different flavors from a lot of different vendors. A lot of different place settings, mugs, and all other things that you could need for the kitchen.
There is always staff in every department that can answer any questions you have and will spend as much time with you as needed.
If you need a gift, or just want to spend an hour or so looking at interesting and random things, there is not better place to go in the area.

Parkleigh is a very unique gift shop. It was a pharmacy until the late 1980’s but now they only operate as a gift store. I go mostly for the candy shop and the Crabtree and Evelyn. They have shaving soap and shaving brushes which can be difficult to find, and some very nice soaps and lotions. They have nice coffee and jewelry sections, and the candy selection is quite extensive. They have Godiva, Moonstruck, and Hedonist chocolates. As well as beautiful petit fours and many other deluxe style candies. They are a bit pricey, but if you’re looking for a special treat for yourself or a friend it’s a good place to go.

Mom wanted a Vera Bradley wallet for Mother’s Day. Google told me to go to Parkleigh. I had no idea that I’d be in for such a treat. The day before Mother’s Day, it was an understandable madhouse. But the staff kept on smiling and being helpful. They even had a parking assistant in the parking lot.
Inside we moseyed through a surprising array of unique gifts and trinkets, and beautiful case of decadent deserts, household decorations, costume pieces, glorious socks that I simply must go back and purchase for my collection, jams, jellies, and even unique incognito drinking flasks that I really wish I had in my possession during my college days.
We were even offered a sample of coffee that totally rocked my world. We found exactly what we were looking for, received free gift wrapping, and went on our way…

I went into Parkleigh today to kill time before an engagement. I spent a LOT of time in the card section. They have a selection of cards that I could actually buy without the really lame birthday jokes, or a father’s day card all about golf and ties… found some funny ones that didn’t make me want to gauge my eyes out. They also have a lot of cards and postcards with gorgeous illustrations of Rochester on them.
A lot of the stuff like Mackenzie Childs, Crabtree and Evelyn, Vera Bradley, etc. isn’t my style but they have funny gag gifts and books too on the left when you first walk in.
Lots of beautiful summer scarves are out now. Also a good selection of jewelry.
The coffee shop section is mad cool. The barista/​bean grinder man offered me a sample of the banana crème blend and it was delicioso. I would totally go back to Parkleigh to give someone a pound of their coffee-​20+ blends to choose from.
I like the staff here because they are friendly and helpful but not the kind that attacks as soon as you walk in the door, breathing down your neck making you feel like you have to buy something before you leave. Props.
