Four of us had a Friday night dinner. Restaurant was busy but our service was outstanding. Fish fry, seafood chowder, chili were all excellent. Yummy bread. Good food, good service, fun atmosphere at a reasonable price.

Went for a late lunch with my sister and Aunt for her birthday. We had my 1 year old niece with us and our waitress was so accommodating and sweet with her. She was prompt, friendly and on top of refilling drinks. Probably one of the best servers I’ve ever had anywhere. The food was really fresh and tasty. Their soups are fantastic so be sure to check them out. I give 4 stars instead of 5 because I’m not a huge fan of the overall menu.

Cold, and Ice Cold. As usual with Park Ave, no where to Park Ave. Why do people come down here? Sorry, this place sucked. I attended here for lunch, and got the scowl from the surfer, hippy, dude, puddle of mudd, who must have instantly recognized that I was a Trump supporter. Well, that was a joke, but that’s the look I got. We can start with the 1 toilet, which can have you twiddling yourself by the door as long as the person is in the bathroom. I had ordered the Park Ave Sandwich, or something to that effect, I didn’t remember much of it. It arrived almost instantly after I had ordered it. Had it been sitting there already? It was cold, ice cold. Bacon was cold, turkey was cold, bread was cold, why was it cold? Fries were lukewarm, my ass was warmer. Top it off with a $ 38.00 for 2. Ridiculous for lunch. Never again.

I really, really enjoy Hogan’s Hideaway. It’s been a favorite ever since I first moved down to the Park Ave area when I was in college and my mom introduced me to it, as she used to go all the time when she worked at the once nearby Genesee Hospital. She’s since moved away, but whenever she’s in town, we always go, and this past time was no different. We ended up going there for an early NYE dinner before I headed out. The service here can be hit or miss. I’ve never experienced some of the more smarmy examples people have mentioned, but it can be supremely friendly to aloof. It can also be very slow, but I know to expect that going in. I agree with others who’ve mentioned to eschew the traditional dinner entrees, which don’t always live up to their price, and to stick with their salads/sandwiches/wraps. My mom and started with some wine, of which they have a fairly nice list. We had a meritage; it was good, nothing too memorable. We decided to start with shrimp cocktail, one of the appetizer specials, and they were listed at $ 4/shrimp. Very pricey, but hey, it’s a holiday. We got four of them, and my goodness, they were positively HUGE. Plenty for the two of us. They were served with a slightly spicy cocktail sauce that we both really enjoyed and polished off. A treat, but worth it. For dinner, I debated, as I love their crab cakes(nicely crisp with sizeable chunks of lump crab throughout the cake), but ultimately went with their steak salad: flat iron steak, apple, onion, walnuts and goat cheese with a balsamic vinaigrette over mixed spring greens. I always ask for the goat cheese on the side. It’s a beautiful salad, really well balanced and the steak was cooked at the requested medium rare. Yum. My mom had the steak sandwich, open face, on their gluten free bread, as she’s a Celiac sufferer. I really love that they have(edible!) GF bread, and the ability to turn any of their sandwiches GF. It’s really nice for people. All in all, I’ve always been very pleased with Hogan’s. Maybe that’s partly due to nostalgia, but I think it’s a place definitely worth trying out. It’s right next to Parkleigh, so it’s a couple blocks down from the restaurant hubbub of Park Ave. They have a small parking lot behind the restaurant, but be warned, it fills up fast!

With visitor’s in town for the holiday we stopped in for lunch at Hogan’s on Black Friday. It was relatively busy but we were able to get a table. It had been quite some time since last dining here… we got out of the habit after a number of so-so meals. Back in the day this was a reliable go-to dining option. Our waitress was almost running to keep up and she did a very good job being attentive despite the crowds. The Rowley Reuben, the Cubano, and the burrito were all good — nothing exceptional but good solid fare. The seafood chowder had ok flavor but it was a bit thin. We will have to give Hogan’s another shot for dinner. I will be interested to see what is on their standard dinner menu compared to their chalkboard specials. And I wonder if they still have the peanut butter pie — that was always very good.

I haven’t been to Hogan’s since it came under new ownership. I stopped by to get my boyfriend dinner(he works nearby and was working a 13 hour day). We didn’t want anything too messy or that required too many utensils, so I ordered an eggplant parm sandwich and a spinach salad to go. Both were delicious; the strawberries in the salad were surprisingly sweet considering it’s November. Also, the people were super, super nice. They addressed me by my name and checked in with me to tell me how long the order was going. Even though it was busy, the wait time was reasonable. The only part that can be an issue is parking; carpool if you’re planning on going with a bunch of people!

Great casual, relaxing spot for quality American grub — some of the best burgers and sandwiches in the area. Why only 3 stars? Despite an improving beer selection and quality food, the service was always just«meh.» I always felt the vibe that I wasn’t welcome to stay and that the staff didn’t like their jobs. They also have a parking attendant that is extremely unkind, to say the least. When you get a negative experience from the moment you park your car, before even entering the establishment, you know that something is just amiss. But the burgers… so good.

If you’re ever looking for a neat place to stop and eat at come here. I have been coming here for years(once in a great while) but every time I come I have a good time. The food is good but I think it depends on what you order. Sometimes hogans has its off days.

I’ve been here in November 2014 while on a fact finding mission and now today. We now live in Rochester. Food seems to be pretty solid, nice staff, you can sit outside. Parking is pretty good and lots to see in this area. They usually have good specials, you can have a beer, wine or whatever. This is a casual place and I believe even the pickiest eater can find something to eat. I usually get the quiche whichever is available is always good. Service is not in your face and they are pleasant. Cheers!

Hogan’s is the walkable place we go to if we cannot come up with a better idea. That’s sound terrible but it always ends up being the right decision. Most recently; I enjoyed the veggie burrito — amazing!!! My sister had the turkey Rueben which also looked great. She loved it. Our server was friendly, stayed on top of my water(!!), and interacted just enough with us to let us feel like she appreciated our business in a slow weeknight. We’ll be back!

I’ve been here many times, and both the food and the service always range between meh and great. The location is lovely, beer selection gets better every time I come here, the women’s bathroom is adorable and they have a nice patio. However, the big glaring con to all those pros is that the menu has always consistently been unadventurous, vanilla and forgettable. ^ That, and I’m pretty sure the only time I’ve been here in the last 6 months, last Sunday, I got food poisoning that put me out of commission for three days so proceed with caution.

Not bad at all! But for the prices which are definitely inflated, I think this is a solid choice for dinner on park ave. We went with the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. would skip this in the future. It was ok, but kind of not ok too. They have a nice beer and wine list, the alcohol is reasonable priced but food not so much, I had the chicken alexander… tasty albeit a bit too salty but overall very good. The airline chicken breast was incredibly moist and well seasoned. the mashed potates seemed real and the gravy and spinach completed the dish nicely. My date went with the steak and also recommended it. Service was a little only the slow side but well intentioned, and all the staff there were very friendly. Will definitely return to this place

Service was so bad we actually asked for a to go box and bag the second our food arrived. Server was incredibly unpleasant, which was odd because the first time we were here we had a fantastic experience by someone else. Not wanting to offend this person, we decided to sit at our awkward table that didn’t even have a caddy like the others. She never bothered to bring us one either. Lovely. She brings us over our appetizer, and never asks us how it tastes. Then she plops my cup of soup at the end of the table, not saying a word. Were we really deserving of that for wanting to sit at a table with a caddy with a decent view because we were getting rained on? Did I mention it wasn’t busy at all? Yeah, never again.

I have not eaten here in years and I forgot how much I enjoy it. The menu is on the somewhat healthy side however there are plenty of fried items as well like chicken tenders and other stuff. I had a veggie wrap with avocado and homemade hummus. It was pretty good and came with homemade mac salad which was also pretty tasty. Other people I was with had a club sandwich that was huge as well as another wrap and a turkey Reuben that looked delicious. Sandwiches were all about $ 10 they also have beer and wine and more expensive entrees. Cool art on the walls I am assuming is available for purchase. Very reasonable prices. The salad dressing definitely tasted homemade. I will be coming back more often.

Hogan’s has been my go-to for lunch or dinner on Park Ave for some time now, even as the owners have changed over the years. The menu has changed slightly during that time, but their superb vegetarian chili has never been affected(thankfully). I don’t know why the chili is so perfect, but I’m dying to get my hands on the recipe after many delicious yet failed attempts to replicate Hogan’s version. My other half also enjoys the veg chili, but sometimes will mix it up with a cup of Hoganstrone. I typically go for my standard soup and salad(get the house made cucumber yogurt dressing) or their veggie lentil burger, but occasionally I’ll switch it up if their specials sound good. I know I won’t be disappointed with my usual order, where sometimes their specials are just ok. Joe works behind the bar a couple of days and makes an awesome ghost pepper bloody mary. I wish they still had the parking lot party with bands during Park Ave Fest, that stopped a few years back. I like that they have a parking lot attendant to tell you when it’s full or vacant. Even with limited space I’ve never really had an issue finding a spot. Hogan’s vegetarian chili, do it.

The Good: It’s only a couple minute walk from our apartment, so it’s effectively the default on nights when we’re too lazy to drive anywhere. That said, it’s nice inside with lots of eclectic artwork on the walls and the service is always attentive. I also like that they have a good mix of higher end and cheaper options in case you’re not looking to break the bank. The Bad: The outside seating area is pretty small and nothing special. I’ve Gone: ~10 times I Usually Order: Buffalo Cluck and Mac

The food here was really tasty and the service was great! I ordered the chicken and guac sandwich with fries for lunch and it was very flavorful. Everything was cooked well and the fries were the right mix of crispy and soft. For dessert, I had the Mississippi mudslide pie. Also amazing! Its was super chocolatey and the addition of toasted pecans was great. Definitely a must-have.

This is a friendly neighborhood place. The service here is excellent, and the food, though somewhat uninspired, is solidly delicious. Steak sandwich — The bread was too thick for the filling. This is a case where they should either slice their bread thinner, or use more(or more flavorful) filling. Seafood soup — Very good. Thick and creamy with lots of seafood chunks. Would get again. Spinach and artichoke dip with nachos — Yum! Use the provided spoon to top your nacho instead of dipping it. It will make your life so much easier. Mudslide Cheesecake — Good, but exceptionally sweet. Only order if you have a real sweet tooth. :)

Hate to be so harsh but… The time before I went Hogan’s had diffrent owners. Homemade food that couldn’t compare to anything. Now it doesn’t compare to what it once was. They for rid of certain menu items that I liked. The food doesn’t seem to be homemade or even cook to order. Very dispapointed. I don’t think I will be returning. It’s a bummer when it seems cost is more important then quality. I am better off going a block down the road for a better meal.

Hogan’s delivers good food consistently. Their prices are mostly reasonable. Stick with the sandwiches/salads and you will do just fine. Their menu is solid, safe and appealing to a wide range of palates. I usually get the crab cake sandwich with french fries(really, they are potato wedges) or the steak salad(delicious!) Service can be really warm to really smarmy(you know, the kind where you ask the server who just listed several salad dressings if they have this one type(thinking maybe they forgot to list that kind) and the server goes«No we don’t. Because I didn’t just say it.»). They do have parking in the back but it tends to fill up rapidly. Overall, Hogan’s is a good, reasonably priced cozy choice for a weekday lunch or dinner.
