We design and expertly craft by hand meaningful pieces of fine jewelry. Our specialty is engagement rings, interlocking wedding bands, and men’s bands of matching design. What is truly unique is the fit of our rings. They contour to the shape of the hand at the base of the finger. Therefore the rings turn less saving the settings from wear. They are comfortable, and the functional design adds a simple element of interest to enhance the beauty of the gems.

History

Established in 1972.

Gudmund Jos Olsson, owner of the studio, started out in an old produce barn on Shoen Place by the canal in Pittsford, NY. The area grew to become known as Northfield Common, hence our name, Northfield Designer Goldsmiths. About 20 years ago we moved into the city on Rochester’s historic Park Ave where we have made our reputation creating custom engagement rings and wedding bands.

Business Owner

Graduated Upsala University, majors Art History, Sociology. Graduated Grafiska Institutet and Institutet för Högre Reklam of Stockholm, Sweden. Co-​founded Swedish business for college wear leading to marketing position at Rochester’s Champion Products. Founded Northfield Silver & Goldsmiths, Inc. Studied with Prof. H. Christensen (formerly of Geo. Jensen, Denmark) at School for American Craft at Rochester Institute of Technology. Designer at Northfield since 1972. Enjoys his Japanese garden and bonsai design.
