Hilton Garden Inn Rochester Downtown

This hotel is not worth the money or Hilton reputation. The manager that greeted us was very condescending and not welcoming at all. There is no place to park, but you can pay a valet service to take your car for you. Also, the valet drivers don’t know how to drive a stick-​shift. The wood laminate on the beds were peeling off. For the price, you would expect a free continental breakfast to be provided, but instead your charged an additional $ 12 for their «breakfast buffet.»
The only thing we appreciated about this hotel was the convenient shuttle service to and from the Mayo Clinic.

Incredibly friendly staff. I had so many positive encounters with staff during my two night stay that I couldn’t even list them all. Most notably, I asked the town car driver if he had a knife or scissors I could use to remove packaging from a new stroller, and he proceeded to remove the packaging for me and put the the wheels on! Every staff member I encountered, whether a housekeeper in the hall, someone in the elevator, or the guy changing trash out front, seemed happy and made a point to greet me.
I was impressed with the cleanliness. I had to lift the bed mattress to attach a child safety rail. I was afraid of what I’d find when I did. To my happy surprise, it was perfectly clean between the mattress and box spring.
I was very impressed with how quiet the room was. I was even in the room closest to the elevators and ice machine, yet I have no sound complaints. This is coming from a mom who put her baby to bed at 8pm. They really must have built some sound-​proofing into these rooms.

You do have to pay for parking and breakfast, but these things were clear to me upon booking. You can choose to park yourself or use valet. There’s a tiny lot behind the hotel, but most parking takes place in a ramp less than a block away.
Located right downtown. I didn’t check out the bar scene, but there were plenty in walking distance. Easy walk to Mayo. I recommend walking to Panekoeken for breakfast. There’s also a Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks and a local coffee shop all in easy walking distance. The location definitely felt safe.

They need to check their housekeeping. I really wanted to like the Hilton Garden Inn… my team and I come down and stay in Rochester every week and we used to stay at the Holiday Inn and finally got to move to what I thought would be better. However, first stay I had dirty hand towels like they thought «looks clean enough» and were too lazy to change them out but I noticed they were obviously used. I also had a stain on my sheets. Gave them the benefit of the doubt but this second stay, the housekeeper did an incomplete job. They left all the drawers open in my room, the pillows on the bed looked like crap, and there was a dirty washcloth with hair in my sink. Very turned off and sad this has been disappointing. I seriously think they need to review their housekeeping staff and standards. Pics are posted.

This was one of the hotels that we had room blocks at during our wedding weekend last summer. To my knowledge everything went well with the guests that used this hotel. We did have a shuttle service setup to pick our guests up and bring them to the Mayowood Stone Barn for the ceremony. The first shuttle did not show up. I never discussed this with them, but we had trolleys at the end of the night and I think it may have been to makeup for the missing shuttle. My uncle was shuttling some guests because of this mishap and missed the family picture time. Other than that our experience was good.

One of the nicest and cleanest hotels in Rochester. Front desk service was very helpful & and breakfast staff very polite and helpful. Connects to the skyways but make sure you have your hotel key or you can’t get back in via those doors. Close to anything you need, so it’s honestly not necessary to have a car. They do offer a sedan that will take you anywhere within a 2.5 mile radius which would get you to a convenience mart if you needed.

I dont suggest anybody to stay there at that hotel. The first reason is the management stuff. They are not nice epople, problems solver. They care just about money. The second, i have noticed that soem duvets are not changed even if the rooms is clean. The third, i have seen a housekeeper drunk. She smells bad really bad in the morning. She was on the fourth floor that day. The best thing there is the kitchen.

First a member of my travel party «did not have a reservation» and was asked to stay elsewhere. We booked at the same time. Then they locked me out of my room after one night. Evidently only one night of my 3 night stay was reserved. Of course this irregularity was not reviewed during check in. I was asked to move for the first time in over 20 years with Hilton properties. I will never stay at this hotel again.
This episode was upsetting enough for me to download Unilocal and give my first ever online review.

We have been to the Mayo for years for our annual physicals and have stayed at this hotel before, but it has really gone down hill. This hotel needs a new manager, a décor redo, and employees who focus on customer service. The hotel is stingy with bath products, slow with car valet service (we waited 45 minutes to find keys still at the desk, it took1 hour to get our car). Room was second from elevator, heard the elevator go up and down all night. Will never stay here again. Lee W, formerly of Minneapolis, currently residing in SC.

This property no longer has a functioning kitchen onsite. Food service is available at the bar but the food is prepared off site and brought to the hotel via skyways.
This information is not provided to you if you book through the Hilton website, so be aware of this major downfall.
Parking in the hotel lot is also a headache which is a joke since they charge you for parking.
I don’t like being nickel and dimed but obviously the manager at this location does.
Food carried in, nasty parking lot, bad info from the Hilton website make this a place to pass over. Management of this hotel is looking to capitalize on captive Mayo customers but I will not be among them.

Hot tub and pool were ok. Breakfast better than most. Fitness center way better than most hotels. Room service is through two places next door or a delivery service. Staff friendly, but oversight is missing. Flat screen TVs are installed if that’s your biggest worry about a hotel.
Monday morning is garbage truck hell if you’re in an even room. The banging starts around 430 AM and continued past 6 AM when I gave up and left. Never had this problem in other hotels in the area.

For the price I expected more. Connected to the mayo clinic so if you are here for that its a better setup but for the business traveler its kinda below average. Valet service is nice but they park a ways out so be sure to request it at least an hour before you need to go.

I was not a guest at the hotel but I went there to meet some friends. The staff behind the registration desk was rude and acted like we were annoying them. I would not stay here or recommend it to friends staying in Rochester.

WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE IN ROCHESTER EVER! I’m sitting in the squalid lobby of this hotel as I write this review. They have a serious house cleaning issue here and the staff seems to have a different definition of customer service than the other franchises in this chain. Some of the highlights from our 6 night stay include, no in room movies and spotty cable reception, a house cleaning crew that left dirty dishes with two day old food out in the hallways and failed to properly clean and tidy our rooms, a 4am jam session with a bunch of under age drinkers banging bongos and playing guitar and a night manager that was unfazed about it. I had to drag my post surgery butt out of bed at 4:30am in the morning to confront the roving hotel room party above us after the management failed to address the issue. When we complained about the house keeping they comped one night of our stay. When we complained about their inability to contain the party, they just shrugged their shoulders. There are way better options in Rochester including the Holiday Inn across the street. AVOID THIS DUMP AT ALL COSTS!!!

This is our 3^rd trip to Mayo clinic and not only was this our worst hotel experience in Rochester, but I would say of all time! To the point, where we will never stay in a Hilton garden inn ever again…
Here r some of the reasons why this stay was so bad:
1. Rooms not serviced well at all w/​beds not made well, trash not emptied, old newspapers left on the floor, empty wine bottles and dirty empty wine glasses left, 2day old eggs left in room
2. When we finally reported this, dirty dishes just left in elevator hallway for all tenants to be disgusted by
3. Main lobby area needed to be vacuumed and tables/​seating area always had crumbs to be cleaned up personally
4. At 4am, we were woken up by the sounds of drunk teens banging bongo drums, singing, and paying guitar… My husband had to personally track down the culprits to put a stop to it when the hotel did nothing post our complain to front desk
It’s just a little concerning when u r trying to recover from surgery and trying to prevent infection by staying in a place that is so filthy! We should of checked out the first day we got here vs hoping it would get better.

A very nice hotel, good amenities, and attached to lots of restaurants, shopping, etc. I would happily stay here again.

I had an above-​average experience here, given that it’s a generic hotel chain and all that.
The place was under construction, yet still managed to be quite restful. The small exercise room met my needs, the pool was pleasantly warm, even if the whirlpool was out of order. The staff was a little overwhelmed when we got there, but proved themselves to be otherwise helpful, friendly and not-​annoying.
The coffee and tea in the lobby were much appreciated. The bed and linens were cozy, the room was warm and had a nice new thermostat. The room also had a mini-​fridge and free wireless, two little extras that helped us save money, get work done and find our way around Rochester.
I’ve stayed in similar places and been less comfortable, for sure.

Great hotel with nice rooms, updated amenities, and comfy beds. The rooms are good size too. I was in a king room with the standard Hilton Garden Inn bed (adjustable firmness settings). The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly.
The only thing missing is a flat screen TV. The TV was an older style, but the channel lineup was sufficient.
