Hyatt Place Roanoke Arp/Valley View

I’d have to give this location 3.5 stars — not 3 per se and not 4 but a solid 3.5
I stayed here for two days last weekend using my Hyatt rewards points and have no complaints.
The location is pretty good as it is right off the interstate, near the mall with tons of food and shopping options, and is near the airport and provides an airport shuttle.
We checked in late on Friday night because we’d driven in from Virginia Beach for a hiking weekend. Check-​in was smooth and easy, our room was ready and I was quickly and easily provided the key and info on how to find our room and where breakfast would be the next morning (it’s included with the room).
Our room was on the 6^th floor — in a corner — away from the elevator as requested. The room is spacious with a seating space, the bed in the center, a closet area, small kitchen space with a sink and fridge and coffee stuff, and the bathroom. The tv is nice because it has all these updated HDMI plugs and a charger area so you can easily plug your laptop or media devices in and run them on the tv or charge them. It’s nice after staying in a Hilton last weekend in Savannah that clearly has not embraced new technology yet. Go Hyatt — good job.
I was concerned that a large group of people staying in the rooms surrounding ours would keep us up but either they quieted down or we were too tired to be bothered…
I will say that the cleaning staff does not at all try to be quiet when they start stomping around and slamming doors at like 8am on the nose… I realize things need to be cleaned but either the doors/​walls should be a bit more soundproof for those not staying a single night, or they need to try to be quieter. GEEZ! There was no amount of sleeping in before our hike started happening on Saturday bright and early I can tell you!
We didn’t get breakfast either day because we had plans outside the hotel but it was going on as we left. I did snag an orange and it’s the standard basic free hotel breakfast fare — some breads, cereals, yogurt, waffles, juices, etc.
My husband always has flowers delivered to my room when I travel so when we returned Saturday afternoon from our hike around 4pm I saw them sitting on the front desk — having NOT been brought to my room — in fairness I don’t know how long they’d been there it could’ve been brief but I’ve had hotels leave my flowers downstairs a full day before bringing them up when they’ve been delivered by the florist before so it always irritates me when they leave them around for hours and hours before bringing them to the room they’re meant for. I grabbed them myself in passing and took them to the room myself. Not exactly how that should go unless they’d only recently been dropped off.
Parking was easy and the wifi worked fine.

Great location with great service! The hotel seemed to have a very calm realm about it. There is free wifi along with free parking and free breakfast! I would definitely recommend.

Loved staying here! The service was excellent! Asked for an early check in and it was no problem checking in at 11am for no extra charge. The room was very spacious, luxurious, and we loved the floor plan. Loved that the room service was cheap! It was a ²⁴⁄₇ service with very reasonable prices just had to go downstairs and get it which was no biggie. The rooms were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The free breakfast was delicious! Looking forward to coming back here and staying here again!

We stayed one night in this hotel and it was a pleasant surprise. Clean, spacious room. Friendly staff. Breakfast was included in the room rate and it was gourmet. The downside of gourmet is of course the wait… but it was worth it. A great value.

We love this Hyatt!!! Have been here three times now, and have had a pleasant stay each time. Beds are comfy. Its newly renovated. Staff is nice and helpful. There are a ton of restaurants and shops nearby. The breakfast is great too. Would highly recommend this hotel. Oh, and they allow dogs :)

This was a great stay driving through to Tennessee. Front desk was attentive and helpful.
The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and we highly recommend this location. It’s not the least expensive one but it was what we needed.

I used Hyatt points for this stay, so it was free and I might be bias.
We were allowed to park the bike on the curb by the front door so this was nice.
We arrived very late and were welcomed.
All I wanted to do was sleep. The shower was HOT and the bed was nice.
We were up by 0600 had breakfast and back on the bike by 0700.
There was another guess at breakfast who enjoyed Corvettes and we had a nice meal discussing our cars.
So this nights stay will leave a nice memory about this particular location.

Staying at Hyatt Place was a good experience. Room was clean, staff was very nice, breakfast was good. Hotel is in a safe area with restaurants near-​by, so good location. Pool was fine.
Only negative the sub-​par fitness room. No free weights, no dumbells, no universal machine. Just a couple of treadmills and a stationary bike. They need to improve the fitness room it was weak.

I stayed here for 2 nights for short business trip. Rooms were ok but couch was sticky and filthy.
I ordered a small pizza and a cup of soup as soon as I checked in after midnight which was very convenient but it was bit pricey (You can get a nice steak and a beer at the Longhorn steakhouse just across the street for the same price).
2 weeks after, I noticed that they charged me $ 150 for damaging couch by spilling oil substance which I never had in my possession during my entire trip. I called the staff for explanation. She directed me to her manager but it goes right into the voicemail without rings. I left a message for a call back but they never call back.

Decent, near airport. Problem is that the airport shuttle doesn’t start till 6am, while the first flight from ROA is at 5:45am.

We arrived very late at night, after midnight so check in was easy. However, the lady at the front desk was overcharging for basic items and I wasn’t convinced it was $ 10 for a deli sandwich. I ended up getting a candy bar because she didn’t seem capable of ringing me up for much else. The room was just okay and the AC/​heating system was very old for what I considered a nicer hotel brand. It was loud and blew only very cold or very hot air. I eventually just turned it off. The bathroom with the toilet and shower was tiny. The room was just smaller than I remembered the average room being for a Hyatt Place. Towels were thin and we only had 3, which seemed odd even if it was only for 2 people. We went down for breakfast and it wasn’t crowded. Seating in the lobby was very nice. The breakfast was adequate but that’s the usual for these type of mid range hotels catering to business travelers. The coffee was good. Check out was quick and painless. All in all, it was a decent deal for a quick overnight stay. I wouldn’t pay more than the $ 100/​night base rate based on what I experienced.

Rooms are dark. The hallways and elevators need to be cleaned more often. NO plugs by the beds, really? Staff was very nice!

Staff is quite friendly here and the rooms are pretty nice which is the reason for the stars. Breakfast is complimentary and pretty good. Now for the bad… The fitness center was just as it sounds… A fitness center. The worst part was that the air conditioning was broken and it was unbearable to be in. I talked to the front desk staff and they said they would follow up with maintenance but I’m not sure if it ever happened.
Not happy about it. I would probably look elsewhere to stay next time.

I was not happy with my stay by far I gave two stars because the room was really nice but the staff were rude and disrespectful I was appalled by the way that staff spoke to us considering one of us is a employee of hyatt place in Charlottesville Virginia. I will not be returning to this hyatt unless they do a full 180 with the rude and unprofessional staff I suggest finding another hotel considering how many are in one area that shouldn’t be a problem

This place is grungy and the facilities in a state of disrepair– particularly the elevators which don’t really instill confidence in guests. On the plus side, staff has been nice.
Not what I’d expect from a Hyatt Brand Hotel. Thinking I’ll move across the street to the Hampton Inn tomorrow night.

We love Hyatt Place, but this location has seen a few guests. For the most part, the rooms are clean. I wouldn’t sit or lay on the couch without a clean blanket as a barrier. The bathroom (separate potty and shower from sink) was «clean» but not inviting. Frankly, the room stood it’s purpose and was mostly comfortable. Just not a glamorous experience.
Although the room was subpar, the staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and on point. The lobby has a small bar with a menu of fresh baked items, fresh salads/​wraps and a menu with soups/​apps/​entrees available ²⁴⁄₇. Five star staff, three star hotel.

Would have been super happy if guy at front desk would have recommended a room further away from elevators when traveling with small children. Guests are really noisy and constant ding of elevator is keeping us all awake. Doors slamming and a stench from the kitchen can be smelled from inside the room. Linens on fold out sofa were dirty, obviously made up several guests ago and never changed or checked for cleanliness. Arrived to a room with only one bath towel, which was remedied immediately upon my mention.
I’d skip this place unless I was traveling alone or without kids. I would also ask for a room away from elevators and on a higher floor. Away from the kitchen.

Stayed here recently for the weekend when we were in town for a wedding. Roanoke has limited options for decent places to stay according to my fellow Unilocalers, so I was thrilled to see a Hyatt Place, which is my go to when I find myself in such a situation (New Haven, CT is the same way. See my other reviews.)
This Hyatt Place failed to impress, however. I immediately noticed the outside of the building was in disrepair. There was bird shit everywhere, the fountain needed cleaned, and little things like broken lights on the building exterior made the place look run down.
Inside was everything I expected, as they all have the cookie cutter layout.
We made our way into the lobby to check-​in and were greeted by a group of loud and obnoxious people in the sitting area. Not sure what the deal was, and I couldn’t figure out why we needed to be so loud as they were seated four feet away from each other.
Checked in and great, we are on the first floor at the very end of the hallway, right next to one of the other two building entrances. Awesome! This didn’t last, though. I parked the luggage by the door and began my Anthony Melchiorri room inspection. As soon as I pull back the duvet, I see not one, but two, giant, black hairs on the sheets. For added measure there were also two stains. FWIW, I don’t think the room had been turned over. I think that it had been serviced as though the last occupant was going to stay another night and didn’t. Buh-​bye!
I tracked down the gentleman who checked me in and informed him of the situation. I politely asked for a different room on the top floor and as far away from noise as possible. The next room was much better. Anthony would have approved.
The rest of trip was fairly uneventful. The loudness in the lobby seemed to persist the whole weekend. This place is by the airport, so there is a lot of restaurants close-​by, as well as the mall. Never heard airport noise on the inside of the hotel, so that isn’t a problem. Breakfast has lots of hot and cold options. Good coffee too!
Pros:
* Huge rooms with sitting areas and a wet bar.
* Big, comfy beds.
* Huge flat panel TV.
* Great water pressure.
Cons:
* Poor maintenance on the outside.
* Poor attention to detail concerning housekeeping.
* Failure of management to keep rowdy guests in check.
Might try Hotel Roanoke the next time.

New, modern decorations, huge rooms with couch area, great mattress and comfy pillows. The large screen TV has an external wall panel so I could watch YouTube and Netflix from my iPad.
Basically you’re getting a high-​end mini-​suite for the price of a regular crappy hotel room. In fact, these were the cheapest rooms available in Roanaoke. I’ll be looking for other Hyatt Place hotels the next time I travel on my own dime.
My only complaint is the location, next to a shopping mall, when I would have preferred to be downtown, but downtown hotels were 50% more.
