Best Western Plus Inn at Valley View

Disappointed and creeped out. We stayed at this hotel 3 years ago on out fall road trip and thought we’d return for an overnight. Our first room had 5 ants on the leather-​ish chair. The front desk quickly switched us to another room. Have you had problems with this before, I asked. «I don’t know» was the response. The second room had what we call a «stink bug» on the same chair.
We decided to leave and went down to the front desk to make sure we weren’t charged. No apology. (We also overheard a call from an arriving family we passed in the hallway, who’d called down to say that some items from a previous guest were still in the room.)
Too many issues for it to be a coincidence. We switched to the Comfort Inn next door. I don’t think we’ll be trying this Best Western again.

Great hotel. Will stay here again when traveling down 81.
We got in late and out early. No problems and a quick check in. The breakfast was great and we checked out in no time at all.

Very clean. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly. We were visiting roanoke for the fire up 611 train excursion and we’re just passing through. Staff was very helpful and courteous.

WONDERFUL example of bang for your buck! Clean hotel, nice staff free breakfast/​wifi/​parking, big rooms! Definitely will stay here again when in Roanoke.

Rooms were nice and seemed to had been recently remodeled but the front office staff was rude. Don’t include the continental breakfast as a plus because it was not very good. Very small pool.

Stayed here this past weekend. The place is pretty nice. I will stay here again. Rooms are roomy with a fridge and microwave, and seemed clean. The staff was nice even let me check out am hour later. Breakfast I think is the best breakfast that I’ve had at a hotel. Great prices

I can’t help it. I just really like a hotel with personality and some worn spots. It’s not a brand new hotel, but it’s clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly, John, one of the desk clerks, is amazingly patient and kind and goes out of his way to make sure people are comfortable. The Dir. of Sales is friendly, funny and personable, as are the female desk clerks – all of whom have helped me with directions and various things.
Breakfast is free and the food isn’t restaurant quality, but it is free. The waffles you make yourself are incredibly good. There’s also cereal (individually boxed), milk, yogurt, fresh fruit, bagels, toast, biscuits and sausage. Okay, so the hockey puck eggs are strange, but they don’t taste bad, just not freshly scrambled. In the morning people crowd into the small breakfast room and lobby and talk, it’s like being on a school bus trip, very friendly and family oriented. If you’re an extrovert you’ll enjoy it!
It feels good – it’s not like you’re there on business and no one cares about you. It’s more blue collar to middle management folks there. Lot of retired baby boomers on motorcycles seem to be there when I’m going through. I met very friendly couples and families from Canada, some managers in the area training for work and even a couple of sour-​faced Homeland Security Types in green with guns on their hips. It’s not a frou-​frou hotel, but it’s clean, the rooms are really nice, the beds are so comfortable and it feels like you’re staying in a place that cares about the people they serve.
Don’t like staying at the far end of the hotel as it’s a long, long walk to the elevator if you do. The stairs are great, but I’ve got a bum knee and it’s too much to climb to the 2^nd or 3^rd floor.
Great pool. Clean, almost always filled with kids and family at night. There was a dog poolside last time, which was kind of cool if you’re a dog lover. I love the free coffee in the room, and the towels are big, fluffy and luxurious, as are the bath mats. Parking is awesome… always spots available even when you come in late. No long walks.
Very quiet. Incredibly quiet. I don’t think I’ve heard any noise in the hallways, or outside ever. LOVE the beds, high thread count sheets, just like the Cambria. The place smells okay, even fresh, although not new. There’s no tobacco smell that I’ve ever smelled. Is it outdated? Maybe, but it’s very comfortable and clean, and feels friendly and safe. I like it.
Best thing ever is there are like a dozen restaurants within half a mile of the hotel, including a great Chinese place within walking distance, and the mall is about a mile away if you like to shop. Location is everything to me. If I want to lay around in luxury for the weekend, I might go to the Cambria, but for business, pleasure, family stuff… love it!

Eh. I’ve experienced better. If I was able to choose where I stay for work, then I would. But because my work chooses it I have to stay where they put me. I feel the need to go next door to the Hyatt place. Those are really nice. This place is outdated. Sort of like an 80 year olds house.

I really like this place. I don’t know why it got a couple of bad reviews. The staff is always friendly. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are clean and quiet. They have an indoor pool that stays open til 10p. The location is great. The breakfast isn’t spectacular, but what do you expect for free? You can get bagels, yogurt, or waffles if you don’t like the egg hockey pucks. The coffee and juice are good. I go to Roanoke a lot for family, and this is my go-​to place. I’ve checked prices on other hotels, and for the value, this place can’t be beat. I don’t think I’ll stay anywhere else on future visits.

Very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room and the hotel. The floor of the bathroom felt greasy-​slippery, there were crumbs and dirt on the carpet around the bed and the surfaces of the furniture in the room simply felt slimy. It was like they had used a cleaning product for every surface that left a greasy residue.
In the morning the breakfast area was the same, compounded by the fact that there was one person to manage both the food service and the checkout desk. None of the serving trays were hot and the waffle makers were apparently broken.
I would stay away from this establishment… not up to BW Plus standards.

We liked it so much we stayed twice on our way down then back up. Rooms are clean and have everything you need including mini fridge and microwave. The pool was refreshing and clean, I didn’t care if it was small I enjoyed it. Location is good next too many nice places to eat. Breakfast was included was more than enough with fresh waffles and sausage, biscuits and gravy. You can’t beat it for the price.

I was very pleasantly surprised the first time I stayed here. I did not expect marble tops on the tables and counters and a leather reading chair in my room. I was upgraded to a king room that included a very nice elliptical exercise machine.
The marble top desk in the room is a very nice workspace. It has a heavy lamp, power outlets, and a very nice leather secretarial chair with pneumatic adjustable height. The desk surface is abnormally high, so I had to raise the chair to work comfortably and that made my legs sore, but I put something under my feet for support.
The hotel manager, Kathy, and all of her staff are exceptionally nice.
There is a small pool and hot tub as well as complimentary access to the small fitness center in the Comfort Inn next door.
You even get a small rubber duck in the bathroom to take home to the grandchildren.
The location is excellent. A large shopping mall is nearby as are a plethora of excellent restaurants. When you visit, try Cheddars outside of the mall. The food and atmosphere are good and the small croissants served when you are seated are wonderful.
I am delighted to know that Best Western includes such nice hotels in its properties. Save cost but still enjoy comforts.

I stayed here with my boyfriend on our drive back from New Orleans. While I do admit the beds were comfy and the sheets were clean, there were some things about this hotel I couldn’t let slide. The breakfast was HORRIBLE, there was an extremely limited selection and nothing was fresh. The eggs were egg hockey pucks, which I did not touch, but someone reported were still FROZEN SOLID. Not only is that unsafe but it is also gross. The cabinets in our bathroom were falling apart and the carpet was stained in several spots. The pool was so small it was a joke and so gross looking that I would never swim in it. Overall, you could stop here, but, for the price mine as well downgrade a little and get the same experience with maybe a slightly less comfy bed for a way better price.
