VIP Salon and Spa

I have been getting my hair cut with Christy since I moved here about a year ago. She is awesome, and I highly recommend! Most of the time, I just tell her to cut my hair the same as the last time she did it because I loved it so much. When I do want something new, I usually can’t easily visualize it myself, but she will suggest what she thinks, and it always comes out amazing! Every time I leave the salon, I want an excuse to go out and show off my new styled ‘do!
Recently, I asked about VIP’s eyebrow services, and Christy recommended Heather, who does Christy’s brows, too. Heather is amazing, as well, and I’m in and out in 15 minutes with my eyebrows looking polished every time! Ever since I started seeing Heather, I have been back to her every month. I highly recommend both Christy and Heather!

I’ve been going to Bonnie for almost a year. My hair is always impeccable. She is great at coloring and cutting! I love this place!

Let’s just say Karen S. is the best stylist around and this salon is very lucky to have her! The customer service here is great as well and price point is right.

I went to VIP Salon and Spa on two separate occasions: Once for a fill, and the second time for a full set. I was far less than impressed with the quality of service I received both times, though the fill the first time was adequate and the only reason I returned for a full set, which was subpar. The plus is that the front desk staff is friendly and accommodating with appointments, and the salon appears clean, though the décor is dated. If I were rating the salon on the fill only, it probably would get 4 stars, but the full set appointment turned out so terribly that I can barely justify 2.
It started with the behavior of the technician, Na (what she went by, not her real name). I like to enjoy my appointments by reading a magazine quietly, as my nail appointments are the only time I get to pamper myself, but she was insistent on talking the entire time, even when I prefaced the appointment by saying that I enjoyed these appointments «for quiet time» and was reading. It wasn’t simply that she wouldn’t stop talking, but the topics of conversation that she chose. She was extremely intrusive in her questions on my personal life, and when I politely declined answering certain questions or answered vaguely, she would ask over and over again. Just one example is that she asked if I had children and I answered no, she then pressed on by asking when I was going to have them, how old I was, that I shouldn’t wait too much longer, if my fiancée was okay with not having children, and then telling me that I would change my mind and it was my job to have them! This on it’s own is RAGINGLY inappropriate, but she approached every topic like this, in an intrusive, inappropriate, and judgmental way. I was extremely uncomfortable the entire appointment.
As for the service: I requested a full set of gel nails, but the technician did acrylic instead. When I saw her do this on the second nail, I immediately brought it to her attention, but she said it was too late to change. She continued with the arylics, which I do not like but figured I was better off just dealing with to get through the appointment. The nails appeared fine when I walked out of the salon (otherwise I would have immediately complained to management), but it was how they grew out that was beyond appalling.
After I got home, I noticed that the acrylic on many nails was over top of the cuticle, when I thought it was just up against the cuticle. It took several days before I could get my cuticles out from under the acrylic, and after about a week of growth, I could see the real problems– because she ran the acrylic over my cuticle instead of next to it, it left a sharp and extremely noticeable ridge at the bottom of my nails. My nails grow very slowly naturally, so for them to look like this just 5 days in was shocking. I called the salon and asked to speak with a manager, however was told first that I had to return within 3 days if I had a problem, then told no manager was available to speak with me. In total, I made 5 calls and never spoke with the salon manager.
To make matters worse, at the 8 day mark, my nails started breaking, something that has NEVER happened to me in all the years I have had false nails. I work an office job that is not hard on my nails, so there is absolutely no reason for this beyond the fact that it was a poor quality service with quite possibly poor quality products. I live in the downriver area, however I work out of state and was unable to physically come into the salon, so this was not resolved whatsoever. On top of that, the cost of $ 50 is absolutely a joke!
I do not recommend this salon, but if you do go there, do not get a service with Na. If something goes wrong, don’t expect it to be handled appropriately by the manager, who (if the front desk staff is to be trusted) is never in the salon to take complaints or concerns… though in retrospect, who knows if they were being honest about when the manager was there or not. Very disappointed.

Sabrina (mani/​pedi) and Jeanette (massage/​waxing) are still the best… but if Sabrina is busy… Alicia is the #1 backup… she gives an awesome foot massage and I love her mani/​pedi too!

I first want to start off by saying that this salon is very clean and the employees are very friendly. I had my eyebrows waxed here and they were perfect. However, a couple of days later, I got my nails done. (A full set of acrylics, to be exact.) I did not like the way they looked. You could see bubbles underneath the acrylic and they were unusually thick. The nail tech also did not clean up my cuticles, like they’re description says they do. It was $ 50 for a mediocre nail job. I think that is VERY overpriced. I got red tips to my french manicured acrylics and the paint was not very clean looking or straight. My sister also got her natural nails done with shellac and mentioned the same thing about the bubbles underneath. I was not impressed

I love coming here, I’ve been a client since 2008. They have great waxers and massagers; I see Heather. She is absolutely amazing! Their salon and spa is very relaxing and priced decently. The people who work here are very friendly, nice, and always have something to talk about! I’m always satisfied when I leave!

I absolutely LOVE this salon! Here is why:
1. Sherry is one of the best hair stylists I have ever been to! (She is really good with highlights and she knows how to «trim» hair when you want to grow it out). Plus, she is super friendly. I mean, I fly in from San Francisco, California for her. Enough said.
2. I’ve had my hair done in an up-​do for a wedding, Loved it.
3. I’ve had my nails done there & no one talks about me in another language with another nail tech across the room. They pay attention to you :)
4. They use Moroccan Oil products in the salon.
5. The staff at the front desk are always friendly & helpful.
They also do make-​up and massages here. And, they provide coffee, tea, or water for free. I’m having my wedding party of 10 get their hair done here next summer.
Here is one last tip: Bring cash for tips, you can’t add it to your credit card when you pay. If you forget to bring Ca$h with you, there is an ATM inside the salon.

This is the only place I can go to get my eyebrows waxed. I’ve had my eyebrows waxed since I was around 13 or 14 years old, and let me tell you, I’ve hated the turnout more times than once. I’m always very specific with what I want – defined arch, not too thin, not too much off the sides – and until I found VIP, I’d always walk out of the salon with eyebrows that were too thin and too short. I hated it.
I’ve never had a bad experience at VIP. They always look exactly the way I want. The girls who work here know what they’re doing and they’re knowledgable. I’ve tried to find other places because it’s a tad pricier here than other places I’ve gone to in the past, but I don’t mind paying an extra 4 dollars for great looking brows.
I’ve also gotten my hair done here many times and have had no complaints. :)
Bottom line, they only hire well-​trained people here at VIP. All of the girls I’ve ever gone to have done a great job.

I grew up going here here. And I miss the smell of it. My Mom is a fantastic skin care specialist and massage therapist, and I’m not saying that because I have to by mother daughter laws! Go see Heather. Also, I still can’t get a hair cut because I’m afraid no one will be equally as perfect as Ashley.
Writing this makes me sad. I need a full spa day.

I scheduled an appointment to have my horrible gel nails revmoved after getting them put on at another salon. My appointment was with Kelly and she was the best! She was able to get all the terrible, thick gel off my nails and gave me a really good manicure with the Gelish polish. I will be going to Kelly from now on for my nails!!!

Knowledgeable staff, very friendly, hardly any wait, great product selection. Brazilian blowouts are a must for unruly or frizzy hair!

Being a pedicure virgin — (who would have thought??), I made an appointment with a friend. I can’t say I was honestly looking forward to this, but I gamely showed up. What struck me first was that all the nail techs were right there smack in the face when you walked in, along with the acrylic smell…
But the receptionist was very friendly. We had a private room and let me tell ya, the chair alone was worth the $ 40! I was a mass of limp noodles 10 minutes into the visit. My poor neglected tootsies jumped for joy at the warm foot spa. Next came a wonderful foot massage and all the normal pedicure treatments, finished off with a mini-​leg rub and moisterizing… Rachel was WONDERFUL and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!! Unfortunately, I am now hooked. Sigh… I seriously wanted to take her home with me… who knew pedicures could be sooooooo relaxing…

Loved this place. I was referred here eons ago, but never went. It is usually hard to get into spas in the area for services and I usually need last minute appointments. A co-​worker suggested after work pedis, and we wanted a nicer kinda place, so I called here and they had two appointments at 6! Whoot! Showed up and we were taken right back, earlier than our appointment time. Room had two chairs and a door for privacy, and the massage chairs were amazing. We were offered drinks, picked our polish, and off we went. Were there about an hour, all for $ 40! The girls doing the pedis were super nice, and I found out during the appointment that I indirectly knew one of the girls, she was a customer at my office like 7 years ago. Crazy. They told us about this new treatment for nails while we were there, and I think we will def be back. The one negative that annoyed me was not being able to leave a tip on credit card. I was glad my co-​worker ha cash, because I rarely carry any on me, and I did not have my checkbook. Anyway, highly recommend this place.

I scheduled an appointment here after a dreadful experience at Pure NV Salon in Taylor (head over to their page for my review).
As soon as I walked in everyone was extremely friendly and had great personalities. My stylist, Sam, was available right away and took me right back. I came in because I had long hair that was cut the day before by the long-​lost sister of Edward Scissorhands (who hasn’t yet figured out how to use them) and resulted in my hair being about an inch shorter on one side than the other, as well as chunked out layers that went all the way to my shoulders. Sam told me several different options, and I ended up going for an inverted bob style at shoulder length. I wanted to cry because I was cutting off about 8 inches of hair, but figured might as well go for something new if I was going to have to make a big change anyway.
I absolutely love my hair. Sam did an excellent job, and even showed me several different easy ways to style it since she knew I hadn’t had short hair in years. It’s rare for me to go into a salon and leave absolutely LOVING the results because I am a picky brat and stylists never seem to understand what I want. However, this place is perfect. Everyone was super nice and my hair turned out EXACTLY how I wanted. She didn’t take long at all either, which was nice.
Aside from the great style and customer service, they have one of the best selections of products as well. One of my favorite products for my hair is Moroccan Oil, and there are only about 5 places in southeast Michigan that sell it. VIP has the whole line of products, along with a huge selection of other brands. They even have jewelry, purses and flip flops available for purchase which I thought was a fun addition. I will definitely be back.

Precision, precision, precision. The pedicures here are perfect and they take a lot of pride in their work here. The owner runs a tight ship and the work shows it. They offer quality service every time. I joined their mailing list and they periodically have some really nice specials, which is great when you are a bargain following salon hopper like me.
VIP is awesome for a solid pedicure or manicure experience. They have a ton of techs on hand so you can get in no problem and a wide variety of price ranges from basic to deluxe, I really like that. Plus, they have great pedicure chairs and even neck wraps yay.
They offer european and organic facials, a variety of body treatments (wraps, scrubs, detoxes) and a whole list of massages too. So far though I am just a pedicure girl.
It is a hike from my house or I would be here more often, I usually only stop in if I have something else in the area. There are more glam salons but I have never gotten anything but stellar, professional work from here.
