Paul’s Pool Magic

We were a bit horrified by some of the reviews posted here, but our neighbor who has used Paul’s for 10 plus years recommended them highly.
We had also had a problem with our heater, a Pentair Minimax NT. Paul and Mike both came out to check heater, our filter and pump system. This was on Friday May 20, 2016. We did agree to the 75.00 trouble shooting/​service fee. It was explained that it they did the work they would deduct the fee, which they absolutely did, here’s the breakdown.

The 175.00 we were charged to repair the heater was phenomenal! They deducted the service fee… We were told by a friend/​electrician we needed to replace it? See cost below.

Just yesterday I walked out back and Pauls Pool Tech that comes every Friday had our filter apart. «I hesitantly asked what was wrong now and how much will it cost.»?
He said nothing, filter cleaning is included with the full service fee?
These fella’s are legit! I am so happy I listened to my neighbor. We’ve had 6 pool guys in the last 13 years, none have displayed the professionalism, follow-​up and honesty of these fine gents.

Having to replace the pool’s pump was not on my mind when Paul and Mike arrived. They surveyed the leak I was having and provided me the pros and cons of servicing my current equipment. I appreciated the frank information they gave, and although, for me, the replacement amount was substantial, the fact that they took the time to explain the situation and allow me to size them up (honesty/​competency) made my decision much easier to take.
My pool runs like a champ, and it hasn’t been so clean in years. I plan on using Paul’s Pool Magic very soon for other replacement/​service issues I need done.

We hired Paul and company to assess what was wrong with our leaking spa and fix it. They came out, tested it, and determined that the skimmer needed replacing. We paid him almost 3k to replace it, and they assured us that they back their work. The spa continued to leak, so they came back out, did further tests, determined that there was another problem as well, and did what they determined needed to be done to fix that. When we notified them afterward that the spa was still leaking, Paul came out and, smiling, told my husband «If I were you, I would just cover it and put a table and some chairs on it.» My husband was appalled by his attitude. The upshot of it is that we are out almost 3k and have a spa that is still leaking and unusable.

Words alone can not express my gratification for these guys. I had another company, refurbish my pool. Re-​plaster, re-​tile, and install new equipment and some plumbing. DE kept piling up in my spa and polluting my pool. I contacted the company that did the overhaul and, they sent someone out to check out the filter. This Pentair guy, did all he could. He replaced the internal parts, cartridges, and even the filter with a brand new filter. As everyone from the pool contractors, to the Pentair people were stumped and months and months later, I finally called another pool contractor. Paul’s Pool Magic. After 10 minutes of looking at my pool, spa, and equipment, a $ 30 part, this seemingly endless problem was finally resolved!!! The funny thing? Nothing wrong with my filter… I love the way these guys analyze the issues, consult with each other, and come up with their plan. The other pool contractor, well, they looked, and looked, and wanted to look some more, just making a huge mess, etc. I highly recommend Paul’s Pool Magic. I have never seen my pool and spa look so beautiful. I don’t know what Paul would have charged for this one fix, however, they also replaced old valves and plumbing that should have been done during the refurbishing. Also, the other guys left a huge mess of DE all around my pool equipment, down my driveway and in front of my neighbors. Without even asking, Paul cleaned up the mess, leaving our home beautiful. The price was remarkably reasonable. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Initially we thought we had found a good company to work with. The other day the pool servicemen came to the house and took apart our whole pump and filter with the intention of replacing it. They did not ask for our consent for this replacement project that would end up costing over a thousand or two thousand dollars. We had asked him to come back and replace everything he had done but he refused and hung up the phone in our faces. I don’t think this is a very trustworthy company. They seem to be taking advantage of customers.

I wish we had found him earlier. We’ve used his services for the past year and have a beautiful sparkling pool. Our pool was frequently green and murky. A once a week visit by someone who knows what they are doing has made all the difference. Paul and those that work for him are knowledgable and professional. We have actually saved money this past year by using his services. No more costly trips to the local pool store, Paul takes care of everything. I find his prices to be competitive and more importantly I trust him.

I had a very good experience with Paul pool magic had a problem with my pool pump called him up came over the next day and resolved my issue. I have read the other review about not being able to diagnose the problem over the phone and charging 75 dollars for a service call… what did you expect? $ 75.00 for a service call seems reasonable to me. you must work for the government or have no idea what small business cost are for fuel, insurance, equipment, government licenses, taxes, payroll and so on. yes I’m starting to rant.

I love this new equipment it was totally worth every penny.

I had an extremely reputable company come out and charge me $ 300 to detect that my pool was leaking and i needed to replace the skimmer… would of cost me $ 1900 and they needed to rip up my stone work and they would try to save the stone but i would still have to cement it back in myself. I decided to get a second look and boy am I glad I did. Pauls pool magic came out and did a pressure test and another test with dye… the discovered there was a gap between my concrete and skimmer and they sealed it. no need to replace the skimmer and didn’t charge me any where near 1900. thank you for your fast, reliable and clean service! They came out within 24 hrs of my call, showed me everything and explained it all in great detail. I now know who to call for all my repairs.

I had him come out and give me an estimate for the cost of replacing my Pentair Minimax NT. He gave me an outrageous quote of $ 3500. I couldn’t show him the door any faster than I did. Estimates cost $ 75! He was at my place for 15 minutes — a quick profit on the way home from the other job he actually wanted to do.
I ended up getting the work done for $ 1300.

Very unprofessional. Said he couldn’t diagnose over the phone. Wanted 75 dollars just to come out and look at it. He did tell me over the phone that my equipment was outdated and I would need a completely new system. I called another company that told me what was wrong right over the phone and how much our would cost. Basically i needed a higher voltage timer for a new pump I had just installed (125 dollars). Paul assured me they don’t make parts for my system anymore, etc, etc… consumer beware! Bad business!
