I came down on my day off to get a house key made and the women working behind the counter was very quick and helpful. I don’t quite remember her name but I think it may had been Becky or something like that. Overall it was a good experience all around. Not to mention the awesome batmobile they have in the store!

Called at 11am on my only day off to get my safe opened containing documents I needed under crunch time. The «helpful» person on the phone was unable to provide me any information on the their rates and assured me hurriedly that she would have the locksmith return my call as soon as he/​she returned. I unbolted my safe and loaded it up (with the help of 3 people) to unfortunately never recieve a returned call. A courtesy call back would have been nice had he been unavailable. «Thanks» for appriciating my time. Will not be contacting them again.

I agree with Ivan. I called and the lady was very rude as if she had something better to do. I also told her I requested a quote online and no one called me back but she really seemed to not care. She also quoted me $ 80 but I decided to call someone else and they said they will come to me. he also quoted me $ 60 and was very nice! Wow horrible customer service gets you no where! Thanks Rebecca you are lame!

So FAST! This place was great. They came to my location in less than 20 minutes, and it took him 3 seconds to open my car. Friendly staff.

Just used B&B…Chris was awesome… Extremely helpful and saved me a lot of money. Was quoted by another company $ 80 for a programmed key and Chris did it for $ 50. Very nice. Friendly… Knowledgeable… And went out of his way to make sure I was happy. Nice job Chris.

Called first to get a 2^nd GM key fob programmed. Rude lady on the phone practically accused me of stealing my own vehicle but eventually quoted me a price of $ 60. I was putting off going down to this place but eventually I did. Guy asked me where I bought the key fob from «eBay it’s suppose to be genuine» he made a remark «they always say that» grabbed his scantool from his truck and after several minutes told me his scantool doesn’t even have my vehicle and rattled off some long dead GM models.
Maybe if you bought less Batman Crap and had modern or updated scantools you could have completed the task that the lady on the phone lied to me and said you could do it.
I despise people who quit and give up.

It took 60 minutes for the guy to show up and instead of calling me to ask where I was he circled the parking lot for 10 minutes and the vehicle he was in was unmarked or I would have called the company to let them know where I was. It was 75. It took him 2 minutes to unlock. Wasnt friendly but neither was I because I thought it was stupid that it took so long.

This is the best locksmith. buddy very kind and I only had to explain to him what I wanted done once. He was very professional, checked all the locks he replaces and worked very neat. He changed every lock in my home in less than 30mins. I am very happy with the service I receive from Dons locks and the locksmith Buddy. Thank you very much you made a family feel safer in their home

Wow! I was amazed with the customer service from the «get go» to the finished product. My truck was broken into, and the tow truck driver for AAA told me to give Don’s Lock & Key a call and that I wouldn’t be disappointed with the service. He was absolutely «spot on!» The cost was extremely less than taking it to the dealership, and they came to me which helped out tremendously!
Thank you to the crew member who helped get me back in the «seat» again, literally within minutes!

I own a newer Ford that uses a «chipped key» (which starts the car), and needs to be programmed by a locksmith, or with a $ 100+ device from Amazon. We lost the first (or second?) car key and needed to get our spare both cut and programmed. A technician happened to be available/​in the office when I visited Don’s on a Monday afternoon, and programmed the chip in the key for $ 30. If you are a AAA Premier Member, read the fine print. The AAA website states the Premier membership will cover the cost of a «lost» or broken” key, under the Locksmith provision, up to $ 150. After I called AAA the day of the programming, they refused to help with our lost key. «You can still drive the vehicle — so it doesn’t count», was their response. Even through our first key was lost, AAA fell through and failed us today, but Don’s Lock & Key helped us out for a reasonable amount.

After 8:30 on a Saturday night after a 12 hour shift I locked my keys in my trunk. The trunk I manually locked from the outside AND locked the backseats because I work in a sketchy area.
I called AAA who dispatched Tom from Don’s Lock & Key. He was very professional and efficient. He called when AAA said he would. Confirmed he’d be there in an hour and was on time. He quoted me the same price as AAA (I’ve been ripped off before by people AAA sent) and told me exactly what needed to be done. In under 25 minutes he made me a new key, unlocked my trunk and verified it worked! Thanks so much you were very appreciated!

After an exhausting 13 hr shift at work, I accidently dropped my car keys into trunk and closed it! AAA said since I had a BMW that they would have to use an independent contractor… Don’s Lock and Key… it did take 1.5 hrs for him to arrive but he was awesome! Explained exactly what he would have to do, risks etc. but he was correct! Would use them again in a heartbeat!

After hours and hours of searching for my car keys I had to admit that they had vanished and I was not getting them back. I drive by this place all the time so I figured I’d give them a call.
The experiences started with the gentleman on the phone. Very nice guy, upfront and honest. He immediately told me the price range for the key and that it would be up to an hour and a half before they could get there. It’s late at night and I expected a wait so I wasn’t worried about it.
They weren’t even a minute late. They arrived well within their quoted time in a nice clean fully equipped van. The man was professional, courteous and helpful even indulging my kids when they asked questions.
Staying true to the experience, he was upfront with us from the beginning telling us exactly what to expect as far as end results and price. He was finished within his estimated time.
For fast, reliable, professional locksmith services don’t go anywhere else. Believe me we have used a few and they did the job but we will never go anywhere else again!

I have used this company twice in the last 12 months to rekey the front door of my office building due to employee turnover. Both times they came out within the window they specified for a same day appointment and did exactly what I needed them to do for a reasonable price. On this most recent order I shopped around a little bit and found other locksmiths in the area to be a little more expensive than these guys. I would definitely recommend this company if you are in need of a locksmith.

5 Stars Plus! Had a great experience with Damon from Don’s he was awesome and so helpful. I had to rekey my business and add our new location next door. It could of been quite confusing but he handled it and made a ton of keys quickly for our salon girls. How great is it when u can call on a Saturday at 11 and have excellent customer service by 2pm. Just so u know even my neighbor at my place of business in Riverwalk Plaza the other lock and key place could not give me a definite time or appointment due to the fact that they put Triple AAA CLIENTS before anyone else, all they could say is matbe next Tuesday. SO GLAD WE USED DON’S!

I have mixed reviews for this place. Last week, they came and rekeyed a friend’s house. They did not know it was due to a domestic violence incident. Last night, the aggressor came to the house and changed the lock. The police advised us until the temporary restraining order can be served (it has been ordered) to change the locks again just in case. Don’s REFUSED to come help us unless there is a court order. I explained what the police said and that we have a restraining order against the one who came in last night. The police said we don’t need a court order. They said well, our policy is that you have one. Couldn’t believe it. Ladies, don’t use this place. They don’t support women when they get abused…

WOW! I had to create a Unilocal account just to review these people.
I only had 1 remote key for my car and the key broke off the remote. I did extensive research on what i needed to do, the cheapest way. Found out that i could buy a blank key remote from amazon and just put in the old button/​chip combo from my old remote. It cost me about $ 8 and all i had to do was get my key cut from a locksmith, and bam it would work.
So i called dons and they said it would cost $ 40, i thought this was expensive as i was quoted $ 5 at ace hardware (Ace gave me run around that they were scared to cut my key do to the «complex» cut). I left. So i just used a rubberband to hold my key to the remote (only way it would start the car). One nightt i lost my key and all i had was a remote to open the doors.
So, i finally go to Don’s lock and key and tell them i just need a key cut, but i don’t have a copy. Now they come out that it will cost me $ 60. I had no other choice and needed to move my car. The lady working there (50’s hispanic looking) said okay, until a bit younger caucasian guy comes in and says that there is a «special chip» my key needs to start. This dude had the most serious look on his face, and i almost believed him (but i remembered my research). I told him no, it will work. After trying to get me to budge multiple times and charge me $ 150+ he finally stopped trying.
It was a horrible experience, the guy’s tone was all wrong and talked to me in a condescending way (maybe cuz im in my early 20s). Once i paid i told the lady and the guy thank you, only to get no response and not even a nod. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place based on pure customer service. I do not care that they are part of AAA, their customer service is crap.
I suggest you try anywhere else in this area.

I’ve had some problems with my ignition on my Jeep Grand Cherokee locking on me and not being able to start it. Today my son was stranded and could not get it started. I called AAA and they sent Dons Lock and Key out. Not only did they show up in the amount of time they promised the woman I spoke to was very helpful with my payment since I was not where the vehicle was and the locksmith was quick and helpful and got my son back on the road in no time. I will definitely use them again!

I recently bought a used car that came with 1 key and an after market remote that barley works. I bought a new blank key & remote (OEM parts) online and need to take the car to either a dealer or locksmith to program. I called 2 dealers first and got quotes, then sent a request to Don’s (online). I got a call back within an hour, so was happy about that. The prices, though, don’t seem much cheaper than going to a dealer. Hmm, not sure which way I’ll go at this point, but I was happy to get a call back quickly.
NOTE: The company I bought the parts from advised that locksmiths should be a lot cheaper than the dealer. I guess I need to shop around a bit before I decide.

I’d purchased a used Yakima cargo box for our SUV, which didn’t come with any keys. I took the thing to the Don’s Lock & Key storefront, on the corner of Indiana and Arlington. Within 30 minutes the locksmith there made 2 keys for the existing lock (not copying from an existing key) for a great price.
I dinged them one star because I called the Saturday before, left a message, and didn’t get a call back. Perhaps understandable because of my odd request & lack of urgency in the message, but still not the best over-​the-​phone experience.

Called to get pricing on changing locks. When they answered they mumbled the company’s name, I didn’t understand him so I said hello, and waited then they hung up! I called back and once again a mumble and I said hello is this Don Lock and Key? I then asked about pricing. He said we are closed today you will have to call back tomorrow after 9am. I said you don’t have to do it today I am just curious about pricing! He asked where are you and then gave me pricing. $ 55 for service and $ 20 per lock. I said thank you and then he hung up. Maybe a grumpy moment for the guy, but very rude!

I locked my keys in the trunk of my 2010 camaro. Called triple AAA 2 different trucks came to help and couldn’t get the door open. No luck. I called a locksmith they showed up 3 hours later and wanted 379.00 to make a key. That’s when I called Dons and they sent Frank the locksmith within an hour he was there opened the lock without making a key and it was covered by AAA. Thanks Frank great job!!!

I was leaving to San Francisco and I accidentally left car keys in the trunk with my luggage. I had to get to airport asap so It this point I searched a locksmith and found these guys. i have to admit they are fast and efficient got me a replica of the key literately in about 15 mins it is a bit pricy but I guess I can say its worth it otherwise I would of been late and had to buy another ticket saved me a headache. I highly recommend don’s locksmith they are fast !
