Specialties
Owned and operated by the Wirth Family, Digger’s Ales N’ Eats is Downtown Riverhead’s premier Irish Pub celebrating their 20th Anniversary. From the freshest local ingredients used in the daily preparation of every delicious dish, to the exceptional pints of Guinness and local Long Island Craft Beer, which now includes their own Crooked Ladder Brewing Company located right next door. Digger’s is where «Irish is a State of Mind.»
At Digger’s Ales N’ Eats Irish-style Pub & Restaurant, we’ve created the atmosphere, spirit and charm that allows our patrons to feel at home, unwind and enjoy good conversation, «there’s no strangers at Diggers, just friends you haven’t met.» Revel in live entertainment or simply enjoy a quiet moment, Digger’s 4,500 square-foot Pub allows a roomy place to meet for business or have a private event. Digger’s extraordinary menu of Ales and Eats is what makes them the essential Downtown destination.
History
Established in 1993.
Digger O’ Dells was relaunched in 2005 by husband and wife team, Stephen & Chéri Wirth as Digger’s Ales N’ Eats. Their main focus was to offer their guests a lively atmosphere, tasty food and an extensive selection of beer, spirits and wine, all served by a friendly and professional staff.
Digger’s unique business philosophy helped them develop a remarkably diverse customer base of really great regulars. From bankers to bikers to farmers, our loyal patrons defy categorization and made our success possible over two decades.
Meet the Business Owner
Stephen W.
Business Owner
Riverhead’s popular downtown eatery, Digger’s Ales N’ Eats was owner Stephen Wirth’s first job out of college. Stephen eventually purchased the entire building including Digger O’ Dells. Stephen Wirth believes in a hands-on approach to building businesses with customer service at the top of the list. A few years ago, Steven has an idea to build a microbrewery which recently came to life when he joined forces with brother, David and good friend Duffy Griffiths. Each adds a perfect individual element to the new Crooked Ladder Brewing company, Long Island’s newest microbrewery.
