First timer report:
Father’s Day afternoon. Busy but service was attentive as could be on this busy day. Chips and salsa were good. Not amazing.
The homemade smoker on the patio made us smile. This restaurant offers plenty of choices. And for that, 4 stars. I ordered taco truck tacos. One pastor one Asada. Pastor was yummy, sweet and tender. Home made tortillas. Amazing. Asada was smoked (I would’ve preferred prior knowledge that the Asada was going to be smoked. But duh, there IS a smoker in plain view) skirt steak, different, but good.
Hubby had chili Colorado, not spicy enuf, but next time he’ll ask if they can serve him the spicier version?
All in all, we’ll return.

Absolutely amazing! Food is exceptional, and so is the service. Sal, the owner, is extremely warm and friendly, and he makes sure that you are happy. We happened to come in on Father’s Day, and there was also live music! Such a wonderful little spot. Highly recommend you stop here if you’re in the area. If you don’t, you’re missing out! They also double as a BBQ spot, serving ribs and Tri-​tip. We are definitely coming back!!! The chile verde, and grilled shrimp tacos are to die for! Thank you Sal and team for an incredible Father’s Day dinner.

Good food and great service. They offer unique style Mexican food along with BBQ and pizza so there’s something for everyone. The two times I’ve gone so far the owner and his wife are there and the service is great. Love helping out a local business!

So after the rave reviews I decided to give this place a try instead of our usual. I generally steer clear of places with excessive signage and I should have listened to my gut.
First of all there are a million Mexican food places in Riverbank so one can set standards high. This place needs to work out their theme. Mexican food, pizza, and BBQ is served. The staff is friendly, the place is a little dirty. We ordered three dinners, taco plate, flauta plate, and enchilada place and three ala carte items for $ 50! A little pricey. Food is average, nothing special. We will return to our usual. Oh and fried items taste a bit like old oil was used hence not super fresh.

We went for the first time on Saturday and we had to go back today, just 4 days later! It is so good! We had shrimp tacos and taco truck tacos with skirt steak. DELICIOUS! Their sauces are yummy!
The tri tip is our sons favorite of anywhere around. I hope they get very busy because we would be so sad if they ever closed. The owners are super friendly too. Very welcoming. My husband said he could eat there every day.

Okay, we gave it one more chance and it was a complete mistake. I feel sorry for the wife because her husband is a complete arrogant you know what. It’s sad that because of the poor service we will NEVER be returning, but that is the truth. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. There is far better food and superior service just down the street. It sucks because we used to really like this place, but it has consistently disappointed lately.

My bf and I uncovered this place randomly a couple months back while visiting my family in Modesto.
The salsa that the serve FREE with the chips is soooo good. The amount of heat in the salsa is not too hot. My bf can’t bare any spicyness.
Bf’s order: carne asada tacos and chicken tacos. He rave about the asada being so tender full of flavor. Fantastic.
My order: camarones a la Diabla (spicy shrimp) Fried fish taco. The spicy shrimp was ok, not bad. I would eat it again if someone else order it, lol. But the fish taco is really really delicious, must try. I will def order that again.
Another visit: Also, def try the chicken malenesa. Fried chicken with chipotle sauce. Mmmmmmmmm… Yummers. The bf ordered it but it was on the spicer side for him so I ate it up!!! So good.
Overall, will def go back. The owners are super nice. And would to chat with you to see how everything is doing. Great place!

I’m sure Riverbank, CA isn’t on your bucket list, but this place should be!!! So glad my work drove me past this little gem with the best fresh corn tortillas I’ve ever had. The proprietors take good care of their customers and follow up to make sure you’re happy with what you got. The salsa is fresh and spicy. The chips aren’t anything spectacular but that’s only because everything else is straight up amazeballs! Had the grilled chicken salad (also known as their taco salad) with pinto beans and jack cheese. The chicken was juicy and you could taste the grill marks. No matter what you get, order the grilled shrimp taco a la carte! Worth every penny of its $ 3.95 price tag! Juicy, fresh and loaded with avocado and chipotle crema. Couldn’t ask for anything else. Except to be serenaded by a mariachi band. Guess we all have something to strive for.

I was down the street at one of my sites and the work needed to download a large file… so lunch time it was! Wasn’t sure of where to eat but I didn’t want fast food. Saw this place on Unilocal that was close so I wandered over. I was immediately greeted by the owners and was told to sit anywhere. She sat down next to me and asked what I wanted, which I thought was cool, it makes it a little more personal. I ordered a simple carnitas burrito and was showered with chips and salsa which were amazing in itself. The burrito was great and satisfying.
They had things I wouldn’t expect from this place going by the name. They sold pizza and he mentioned barbecuing for dinner. Very interesting venture for a place like this. I wish you guys the best! Next time I’m in the area I’ll be back!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time on the recommendation of MANY people and was finally able to on a couple occasions recently. We have tried the flank steak flame-​broiled burrito, fajita chicken burrito, the fajita burrito’s. It’s all been absolutely delicious.
I realy like their unique take on combining Mexican cuisine with a little fun taste of California — for instance, they have a California burrito.
On my first visit, I had a chance to chat with the owners brother, Sal, and the owners wife while I waited for my order. They seem like really great people and a welcome addition to Riverbank’s choices of awesome Mexican food. We will definitely be back!

We went here about 3 weeks ago, I must say service is fantastic. You can really tell the owners care about their customers, I heard a lot of regulars coming in and ordering the usual. Atmosphere is also relaxing and welcoming. The food is superb. Boyfriend got an al pastor wet burrito which he loved. I got the seafood molcajete which was delicious. I believe the owner and his wife were the ones serving us and goodness were they attentive and kind. Telling us the specials and offering to refill drinks before it was even necessary. They exuded customer service. Never skipped a beat. The old man and I have been dreaming about the place ever since. I prefer a spicier salsa but theirs was delicious with a smokey, roasted flavor. You’ll be seeing us again for sure!

You are greeted with Bien Beniedos right away We had Menudo it was delicious and shrimp enchiladas. Got to come back and try more stuff on menu. The Michelada was also the best and homemade corn tortillas also very clean in appearance.

Great Hawaiian burrito and you cannot go wrong with the Carne Asada. Very friendly owner.

As soon as you walk in, the staff say «Bienvenidos» (welcome). Self-​seating, this little cute restaurant has great food! Seating both inside and out, their staff is very friendly and attentive.
I had the seafood Molcajete, which was amazing! My God-​Daughters had a burrito and carne asada tacis. Both were very yummy.
They also have pizza available!
Will definitely return again.

«Under New Management» signs are up and this place is still fantastic! Anything with their creamy chipotle and shrimp is perfect. Drinks are fabulous. Service is great can’t wait to come back.

Great food! So happy we have a local place with not just mexican food for myself but burgers and chicken for my picky eaters.

I ordered a super burrito and it was awesome! Minus …
I asked for no pico de gallo and I got tons… For a $ 8 burrito I’d like for my burrito to come exactly how I asked for it.
The sour cream and Guac was a bit cold and all on one side.
The flavor of burrito was good tho! I just had to pick at my burrito:(…but I basically ate the whole thing!
I’d come again!

We used to really like this place but not so much any more. The food was flavorless mush during our latest visit. My wife’s chile relleno burrito was heavy on the rice and beans. The chile relleno was so small and flavorless – just awful. My burrito had dry, chalky, flavorless shredded beef and, again, heavy on the rice and beans.
When the server checked in on us, we told her the food wasn’t good. «I’m sorry,» she said and walked away.
So are we. Later that afternoon, Montezuma’s revenge struck me. I spent most of the day in the can, sick as a dog. There’s something wrong in La Salsa’s kitchen. The food is not stored or prepared correctly because you shouldn’t experience the reversals I experienced after eating here.
Never again.
