History

Established in 1979.

We chose the name «Planning/​Communications» thinking that cities and counties would like their planning documents and zoning ordinances to be written so they’d be user-​friendly and you wouldn’t need a lawyer to understand them. How naïve we were. In 1985 we added legal services through the Law Office of Daniel Lauber. In 1997 we started conducting Analyses of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice which have revolutionized the genre.

Business Owner

Daniel Lauber, AICP, is a professional city planner and attorney whose planning work has won 4 awards. Merging fair housing law, planning, and sociology, Lauber conducts in-​depth Analyses of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice that meet the standards of the Westchester County settlement. He brings substantial expertise to housing needs analysis, zoning for group homes, comprehensive planning, and preserving affordable housing. He has appeared as an expert witness before both houses of Congress and in numerous zoning hearings and in court. The only two-​time President of the American Institute of Certified Planners, he also served as President of the American Planning Association.
